I’ve got a Harry Potter one and I love it but then I’m a complete Harry Potter geek so not a surprise! I say I don’t care if some people think it’s tacky as I think it’s pretty, but actually threads where things I own are mocked as chavvy do upset me sometimes.

EuphieKat · 27/09/2020 12:25

I quite like them, actually. I don’t see how this is really an ‘AIBU’, though, as you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. I mean, I don’t like Arsenal but I wouldn’t start a thread to see if people agreed or not?!

ivykaty44 · 27/09/2020 12:26

no, its a money making spin and don't find the brackets attractive - each to their own

Bloomburger · 27/09/2020 12:27

I'm with you OP.

I like bracelets but hate stuff that is or was all the rage. DH bought me a Pandora Bracelet as they opened a branch near his work and people were queuing to get in.

He said he sat on the train and realised immediately why that in itself would mean I'd hate it and never wear it.

SBTLove · 27/09/2020 12:27

@EuphieKat
That could descend into a riot🤣🤣🤣

amusedtodeath1 · 27/09/2020 12:28

They're quite pretty, but I don't tend to go for pretty jewellery, however the real reason I would never own one is the price. Daylight robbery! (Disclaimer: I'm notoriously tight fisted) Grin

quest1on · 27/09/2020 12:29

Give over OP. You know exactly why you posted.., You wanted everyone to chime in with, “Oooh yes, Pandora is so naff .... blah, blah, blah..,, “

No good now, trying to shift it onto, “I don’t like bracelets in general.” Confused

Who actually cares fgs. I’d say, in this instance and seeing as you brought it up, it’s you who is naff for even noticing such things.

Newsflash .... jewellery is personal. I don’t wear Pandora, but there’s far worse things in life than a silver bracelet.

Yorkshirelass04 · 27/09/2020 12:31

God forbid Pandora makes money out of selling their bracelets and charms!

Also Uggs are foot heaven. I don't care if I look 'chavvy' in Uggs and Pandora, I have literally nothing to prove.

FippertyGibbett · 27/09/2020 12:32

I have one because they were all the rage at the time but I’ve hardly worn it, and never would now.

BluebellsGreenbells · 27/09/2020 12:35

I have one because they were all the rage at the time

I don’t have one because of this jump on the band wagon mentality. It’s over priced jewellery. They made a killing because the teens love the sparkle.

SantaClaritaDiet · 27/09/2020 12:37

@DollyDoneMore

I’m surprised some people see them as outdated. To me, they are just as beautiful now as they always were.
only because they became so fashionable at one point - which means they become outdated just as quickly. It won't take long for most people to get rid of theirs, so yours will become more unique again.
funnylittlefloozie · 27/09/2020 12:37

I like mine. My DD bought me a blue glass bead for my birthday, DP brought me a Mary Poppins bead when he went to DisneyWorld. I like bracelets in general, whether they are those leather wrap ones, or my silver ones, or my beautiful white sapphire one that i bought in Greece. I dont wear jewellery to impress other people, so i dont really mind if some people think i'm chavvy.

viques · 27/09/2020 12:37

I don't like them either. Buy I really admire the marketing brain behind them, I wish it had been me.

Viviennemary · 27/09/2020 12:38

I might have like them when I was a young teenager in a follow the herd kind of way. But let's be honest they are a bit tacky.

Justgivemewine · 27/09/2020 12:40

Yanbu to not like them
Yanbu to like them
Yabu to not like them
Yabu to like them

There you go, that should cover everyone, now all chill out and go and have a nice ☕️🍷🍸🍰🍫🍪🍩

draughtycatflap · 27/09/2020 12:40

I like them. My husband bought me a little twin-domed charm to celebrate the first time we went to Center Parks. He was so thrilled.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 27/09/2020 12:42

@GoldfishParade

The charm bracelets I think are quite a sad commercialisation of something that's meant to be a but free spirited - you find charms, you collect them, maybe of different sizes from different places, made of different metals, like a patchwork quilt pieced together from a mash up of memories.

With pandora you just browse online and click "buy".

This is my bugbear with them as well.

Added to that, the charms are eyewateringly expensive for what they are. Even a half filled bracelet would cost as much as a really lovely piece from an independent jeweller.

Plus how they’re marketed as The Easy Way Out for men to guarantee a gift idea for their other half for every birthday/Christmas for the next decade.

timetest · 27/09/2020 12:43

Some like them, some don’t. I’m pretty indifferent.

Viviennemary · 27/09/2020 12:43

I think Monica vinade r is the same I read a blog and ordered a necklace. It was dire so I sent it back. Total tat.

DollyDoneMore · 27/09/2020 12:44

only because they became so fashionable at one point - which means they become outdated just as quickly. It won't take long for most people to get rid of theirs, so yours will become more unique again.

I don’t have one.

ViciousJackdaw · 27/09/2020 12:47

Pandora, Troll Beads, Nomination, Thomas Sabo, Links of London etc. Some people like them, some don't. Some are to my liking, some are not. Who cares? They are not 'unique' though, let's not pretend that they are. Then again, what is unique? That pasta necklace the DC made is a one-off, a six grand Cartier jobbie (and let's face it, who would know it was Cartier if you didn't tell them or hand it to them to inspect the inside?) is not.

Benjispruce2 · 27/09/2020 12:48

Awful , overpriced hype.

Thecobwebsarewinning · 27/09/2020 12:52

I don’t like them either but I don’t think they are aimed at me. My adult children like them and have done since they were teenagers. I’m older now and prefer antique and ‘real’ jewellery to high st stuff.

Alexkate2468 · 27/09/2020 12:53

I don’t like them either... along with Radley handbags and Yankee candles... in my head I’ve lumped all 3 products together. I think it’s because they remind me of the taste of someone from my past who I’ve now gone n.c. with... although even without that association, I still don’t think I’d like those things.

Greysparkles · 27/09/2020 12:53

I don't understand people saying they're tacky? Can you elaborate on why you think so?
It's a silver bracelet, are all silver bracelets tacky now?
