and what you’re thermostat is set at?

86jabberwocky · 27/09/2020 00:19

I have it's bloody freezing

nhsnamechange · 27/09/2020 00:19

Me absolutely! Especially today and yesterday.

Set at about 21 but we adjust it if needed. I really feel the cold and the house has a real icy chill without it.

thatonesmine · 27/09/2020 00:21

Ours is never really turned off, thermostat set at 20 and it kicks in whenever.

BashfulClam · 27/09/2020 00:21

I’m in Scotland, what do you think?

Titsywoo · 27/09/2020 00:22

I normally have it at 18 but stuck it on 20 a couple of times in the last 2 days for a blast of heat as I felt a bit chilly. Don't like it on for a long time when it's not properly freezing outside as I end up too hot!

80sMum · 27/09/2020 00:26

We've lit our log burner for the last couple of evenings. Not put the central heating on yet, but I have decided it's time to put away the 4.5 tog summer duvet and dig out the 13.5 tog winter one!

Star81 · 27/09/2020 00:27

@BashfulClam

Same here that’s why these threads always make me laugh !!

5foot5 · 27/09/2020 00:31

Yup. Think thermostat is broke though it is just stuck on hot. Must get that looked at. Keep thinking "Oh no I feel hot I must have Covid. Don't be daft. You are doing the ironing, you have your big cardigan on and the central heating has turned on"

LaurieFairyCake · 27/09/2020 00:32

Yes, been on loads here in London today - it's 12 degrees outside

RoseMartha · 27/09/2020 00:33

Twice for an hour each time last couple of days. Not quite ready to put it on timer yet.

greenlynx · 27/09/2020 00:34

Ours is always on. We have it lower during the day and do top ups during the day. I can’t stand cold.

OldGhosts · 27/09/2020 00:34

Fuck yeah. Thermostat set to 24. Why the fuck not? It's cold.

I live in a fairly modern apartment so even at 24 it just clicks on and off as we are very well insulated and it doesn't take much to get to temperature. But, yeah, why the fuck would I want to be cold, indoors? Of course my heating is on.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 27/09/2020 00:37

We got our new boiler with a nest thermostat so have been playing with it on and off today. I know: sad!

But atm it's on 14 and I can pop it up higher in the morning without getting out of bed.

IndiaMay · 27/09/2020 00:37

Nope. I am enjoying the slight chill in the air and the excuse to wear jumpers and slipper socks at home. Plus i can borrow under the duvet at night and not get too warm

Ghosts2020 · 27/09/2020 00:38

It's gone on for about an hour in the evening before bed in the past couple of days and switched from light bed wear to fleece joggers and long sleeves

freeandfierce · 27/09/2020 00:38

Mines on at 17.5, thanks to being menopausal it feels like a furnace!

LeSquigh · 27/09/2020 00:39

Yes, all weekend. It’s set to 21.5.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 27/09/2020 00:41

No. Live in Yorkshire. Windows (except DD's bedroom) are still locked open. Our bedroom windows haven't been closed since February 2018 & we don't ever put our kitchen or bedroom radiators on either - DH & DD are naturally volcanically hot. We don't usually put the heating on until there's frost on the ground. I'm naturally cold but I am used to it, I just layer up. I think our thermostat is set at 18, DH sets it (so it rarely kicks in!)

I have just put the big blanket on the bed though.

Angelina82 · 27/09/2020 00:41

I would die if I had my thermostat set to 24! I’ve not had my heating on at all yet. Then again I am of an age where I have lovely hot flushes to keep me warm. 🥵

At least our gas bills will be low. Grin

Cooling is set at 25 and heating at 18.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 27/09/2020 00:46

It has to be quite hot before we turn the aircon on. (Not in the UK)
But 25 is blissfully cool on a 40 degree day.

I must say I am loving snuggling under the (summer) duvet, instead of starfishing naked and coverless and still sweating my tits off.

No the windows are open, NW England I love being slightly cold.

Itllbeaninterestingchristmas · 27/09/2020 01:14

Not yet, the wood burner keeps the how aired and the living room warm. Mid weight duvets are on. I’m going to try and hold off with the heating as long as possible.
