and what you’re thermostat is set at?

Can't stand to be cold. I will put a jumper on before putting the heating on though.

I lived for a couple of years with a friend who never ever put the heating on. It was miserable and cold. I'd wake in the morning and see my breath!! This back fired on
her one winter when her pipes froze and burst.

Gobbycop · 27/09/2020 09:20

I’m in Scotland, what do you think?

😂

Aberdeenshire hete.

Woodburner has been on first thing last couple of mornings.

I'm a weirdo that loves winter approaching.

Gobbycop · 27/09/2020 09:21

Here.

WestTen · 27/09/2020 09:21

Currently got mine on here. It's 7 degrees outside! 🥶

WatershipDown7 · 27/09/2020 09:23

Yes for the past ten days at night and now it’s going on during the day too. It’s a cold house at the best of times.

DeliasDinner · 27/09/2020 09:28

We aren't in the UK but autumn has very definitely arrived here. It was like a switch: swimming outdoors last week, wood burner on this week. Am hanging on to the 4.5 tog duvet in the slight hope of an autumn heatwave, but have resorted to a thick wool blanket on top.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/09/2020 09:29

Just put ours on.
Had it on a few times lately, esp. yesterday morning. When I came down at about 7.30 the temp on the thermometer outside the kitchen window read 5.9 - and we’re in SW London.

I always like a bedroom window open at night though.

CaramelEmporium · 27/09/2020 09:31

Yep thermostat set to 19.5 and kicked in. I’m awaiting delivery of a heated throw for the days I’m home alone. I’m not a skinflint but heating the house for one seems wasteful and I can’t be doing with changing all the rad thermostats all the time so as to just heat the one room.

LunchBoxPolice · 27/09/2020 09:37

It’s 9 degrees here but I can’t afford to put the heating on. Pregnant and unable to work due to Covid (self employed) and zero government help.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 27/09/2020 09:37

Mine is used all year, I work on temperature not the calendar month. Thermostat is set to 18 during the day and 23 in the evening (we are open plan so lose a lot of heat). I can't stand being cold and always wonder why people suffer just to tick a box that it's after a certain date (assuming they aren't on their arse end financially, most people I know who do this are just tight)

DominaShantotto · 27/09/2020 09:54

We don't have a temperature thermostat (old heating system) so it's either on or off. It's just gone on for a couple of half hour slots a day to keep the temperature of the house up - especially with people working from home and me having to decamp into the conservatory to work there because it's the only room with space.

AriettyHomily · 27/09/2020 10:01

Had it on all day yesterday. We don't have a thermostat it was on about 1/4. Came on at 6 and went off at 9 this morning, I'll be turning it on again soon.

Ginfordinner · 27/09/2020 10:08

@namechangeinamillion

I find it hilarious when people announce "its not cold" as if they've checked the temperature everywhere and know how well insulated everyone's house is
Yep.

They probably live in a well insulated flat in the South of England.

These sweeping generalisations occur frequently on weather threads on here as well. It has been a hot, dry summer in the South, therefore it has been hot and dry everywhere . Whereas here, on the edge of the Pennines July was cold and wet, and August intermittently hot, then cold and wet.

It is cold here right now - currently 8 degrees.

cyclingmad · 28/09/2020 14:58

This year i won't be turning it on too soon. If I'm cold it'll be an excuse to get up and exercise more esp now wfh. Plus slipper socks, jumper etc. And only then if I'm still cold will it go on.
