Fuck me. No wonder we are headed for a climate disaster. So if these answers. Put a fecking jumper on. 24, 27! I get quite cold as I wfh and can't move about at the mo because if an injury so use a hot water bottle and a blanket when working.

Feellikedancingyeah · 27/09/2020 08:01

#heating

Littered5 · 27/09/2020 08:03

There’s always one “T-shirt” weather.

Unless you have a naturally hot house. I don’t understand how your house is not cold not being heated up at all. Yesterday I walked outside near a river area it had a really cold breeze and first thing on a morning my house has been cold for a while now.

Angelina82 · 27/09/2020 08:03

Ditto @cliffdiver. Though I think the quite sudden drop in temperature sometimes makes it feel colder than it actually is!

It’s 2 degrees outside and I live in a single glazed Victorian house, what do you think 😂

🥶 Scotland?

ToastedEnglishMuffin · 27/09/2020 08:06

I did last night as it was cold, but it was only on for about 10 minutes.

recklessruby · 27/09/2020 08:08

No not here. It s 16c in the house and i m fine. I m from NE Scotland though, living in SE England so am hardly ever cold.
I did suffer in the heatwave!
But I m on my own at home just now and might put it on later when dd gets back from work.

Angelina82 · 27/09/2020 08:10

Not yet as we are struggling for money as it is. Neither of us had work since lockdown & no money from the government (I'm zero hours & DH is in TV & didn't qualify for self-employed help) sad Am dreading when it gets really cold.

Omg that sounds really tough. I hope things improve for you and your family very soon x.

Haha. Funniest thread to wake up to. Thanks for starting it.
The heating is set to 21.5. It's off in our room though with the windows open. I. Can't. Not. Sleep. Without. Some. Ventilation.

RefriedBeanz · 27/09/2020 08:16

I haven’t put the heating on yet, but I have swapped all the summer duvets out to winter ones and the kids put on their fluffy gowns when they wake up in the morning because it is definitely chilly. Ive also stopped leaving the windows on ventilate overnight as it’s too cold.

I usually only turn the heating on when it’s very cold out because our house overheats quite quickly.

Angelina82 · 27/09/2020 08:18

i did last night, after dd complained

I hope you made sure she was jumpered and trousered up before putting it on for one person.

OP posts:
Elsa8 · 27/09/2020 08:19

Yes, I generally leave it set to 20, down to 17 overnight. I don’t like being cold!

JassyRadlett · 27/09/2020 08:22

I’m sitting here in base later, jumper and dressing gown and still cold, so I’ve just given myself a stern talking to and turned the heating on. Shivering because of an arbitrary date on the calendar is fucking ridiculous.

unicornparty · 27/09/2020 08:23

No I've not put it on yet this year. My thermostat is currently saying 17.5.

lljkk · 27/09/2020 08:23

We cracked yesterday afternoon, set the heating to 21. The woodburner had been all day since 2 days ago but it really heats one room. DS comes home from paper round soon, in the wild winds, so will be grateful I put heating on an hour ago. Apparently outside temp right now is 12 deg C, but the 30mph wind chill must bring it down to feeling like 8-10 at highest.

toodlepipsqueaks · 27/09/2020 08:30

SE England. DP caved and turned it on on Friday evening but he was feeling a bit under the weather. We have quite a warm house though, so since then we've been ok even though it's been nippy out or relying on the neighbours in our terrace all having theirs on Grin

LivingLifeInPink · 27/09/2020 08:31

I am holding off until October, but tbh our hill only goes up about £30 a month in the winter months, £40 perhaps in January and February when it's really cold. In my eyes, £1 a day is worth it for the comfort- I realise some houses may be a lot more expensive to heat though

Clutterbugsmum · 27/09/2020 08:32

We've put ours on.

In a normal year it wouldn't be on as I would be the only one home, but as DH is working from home and DD1 is now at college but only has 3 lessons actually in college and the rest is from home.

BrazenlyDefying · 27/09/2020 08:32

Ours is set at 20c and will come on when the temperature drops below that level during the day, whether it's July or January.

Don't get this idea that it's somehow morally superior not to put your heating on until a certain date.

Clutterbugsmum · 27/09/2020 08:35

Sorry meant to add, with the weather last week Monday was 26 degrees and Friday was 8 degrees I'm not surprised people have found it cold.

AnneElliott · 27/09/2020 08:39

Not out the central heating on, but DH put the gas fire on last night.

Morgana7 · 27/09/2020 08:41

Yes we had it on yesterday and thermostat was at 20. We’ve got it on now for a couple of hours too and will then turn it off until this evening where it will go on for an hour.

Bramblecrumble · 27/09/2020 08:42

I'm holding out for October. It is so much colder outside with the wind chill and also the building is still holding some heat from our recent hot weather. Extra jumpers and socks but I do sleep well in a cooler house.

wannabebump · 27/09/2020 08:44

@BashfulClam

I’m in Scotland, what do you think?
Scotland here too... but heating is not on yet!
Bluntness100 · 27/09/2020 08:45

I don’t really understand these threads either. If you’re cold put your heating on. If you’re not and can get by with jumpers, don’t. It really doesn’t matter what anyone else does or what temp they like.
