Ours had come on if it's own accord a few times, usually around 4am. OH had put it on a few times early morning

I had it in yesterday on manual and forgot to switch it back. Cue waking up at 2am as dry as anything

namechangeinamillion · 27/09/2020 08:46

Yes! Set at 18 degrees from 6am and kicked on this morning. Set at 14 overnight, don't think it came on overnight.

@popcornlover

Thought you were all against climate change. Turn it off, it’s not cold. Do your bit.
It’s cold here.

lynsey91 · 27/09/2020 08:50

Yes, switched it on Friday because it was cold. Yesterday was even colder and I was freezing when we went out even with a jumper and fairly thick jacket on.

No way am I going to be cold in my own home. Yes I put a jumper on and thick socks but if I am still cold or my hands are cold the heating goes on.

I also never take any notice of what the date is. If I am cold it goes on. I turned it on for a couple of days in June and July. Despite what some posters think we did not have a wonderful summer with hot days every day or certainly not where I live in the Midlands

dottiedodah · 27/09/2020 08:52

We have .Really chilly yesterday! (on South Coast, but cold ) Set at 21 C

HolyForkinShirt · 27/09/2020 08:52

Last year I went through a really tough time financially and didn't have the heating on all year. It was horrific. This year I have a new wireless thermostat thingy so as soon at the house gets to 20 it kicks in. I'm taking full advantage of being able to afford heating!

Saddest thing is one of my DC said this morning 'isn't it nice to not have to wear dressing gowns all the time' 😢

CandidaAlbicans2 · 27/09/2020 08:55

I get cold if I sit around for hours on here and my hands were like blocks of ice these past 2 days, so I've put the heating on for about half hour a couple of times to get the chill off. I don't have a thermostat (that I can find anyway) but I find that when the thermometer goes below 18/19 I get quite chilled if I'm inactive.

namechangeinamillion · 27/09/2020 08:57

I find it hilarious when people announce "its not cold" as if they've checked the temperature everywhere and know how well insulated everyone's house is

fussychica · 27/09/2020 08:57

Always on but set at 21, has clicked in a couple of times during the last few days. Our house is very easy to heat and we never really use the winter weight duvet, 4.5 tog usually in use right through the winter.

BlackeyedSusan · 27/09/2020 08:58

Nah,bi am contemplating finding a pair of trousers instead of shorts though. Flat is quite warm.

My mum's house on the other hand is fecking freezing. Heating goes on in August.

fussychica · 27/09/2020 08:59

Should have said night is set at 16.

BlackeyedSusan · 27/09/2020 08:59

Nah but I am

Ffs..

Angelina82 · 27/09/2020 09:01

I don’t really understand these threads either. If you’re cold put your heating on. If you’re not and can get by with jumpers, don’t. It really doesn’t matter what anyone else does or what temp they like.

I don’t really understand people posting on threads that they have absolutely no interest in, but hey it takes all sorts doesn’t it? 🤷🏻‍♀️

In winter I wear thermal base layers, and padded trousers and woolies. Heating goes on for children's showers but other than that we rarely need it.

MrsToothyBitch · 27/09/2020 09:02

Turned mine up yesterday from 18 to 21- my flat gets chilly and my bedroom is probably one of the coldest rooms!

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 27/09/2020 09:02

We have...for an hour yesterday at 17c
Tried to resist as it’s only September Grin
Had several layers on and sat with hood up on fleece and freezing so caved.
We were always told to layer up by my tight wad DF and it’s stuck!

BlackeyedSusan · 27/09/2020 09:04

I love these threads as it makes me feel better about living in a flat. It is one of the good things about it.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 27/09/2020 09:05

@Angelina82

i did last night, after dd complained

I hope you made sure she was jumpered and trousered up before putting it on for one person.

oh yes!
jessycake · 27/09/2020 09:05

Yes and it varies , I leave it on at between 20 and 21 and but if we are cold I will turn the thermostat up for an hour or two .

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 27/09/2020 09:08

i dont know the temperature, probably 20

ferretface · 27/09/2020 09:10

Ours came on automatically, thermostat is set at 18.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 27/09/2020 09:10

I must say it's one of the things I love about our new house. It's got thermostats upstairs and downstairs. Our previous house didn't; (skinflint landlord) we had to control the heating by flicking the 15-minute on/off settings on the 24hr dial on the boiler. So as the weather got progressively warmer or colder, we would have to change the settings every few days. Pain in the arse, TBH.

funtimefrank · 27/09/2020 09:12

I dream of having the heating on. Dh and dds are walking around in shorts, vests and T-shirts. I have thick leggings, socks slippers and a tremendously unattractive fleece dh bought me to stop complaining.

Snuggly Blanket on the sofa and extra snuggly blanket on my half of the bed.

It is metabolism thing. They are all active fidgety skinny regardless of what they eat types. I am 2/3 sloth with a knackered thyroid (being cold all the time is one of my main symptoms). At least my bills are low.

EatDessertFirst · 27/09/2020 09:13

I put mine on for an hour this morning to take the chill off and kickstart the drying of the washing that I couldn't put out yesterday because my pirate washing line snapped. The kids both have colds and are a bit miserable too.

I only need mine on about 18 as both my neighbours have theirs on really early (terraced house) and once warm, my house holds its heat really well. The three of us prefer a cold house overnight though so it'll just be mornings for now.

boomboomg · 27/09/2020 09:14

Me. 22.5 degrees
