Bloody Ocado!!

I had just about forgiven them for the lockdown catastrophe where I couldn’t get a delivery for months despite being a long time smart pass holder, delivery every week or 2, usually a reasonable amount etc etc.

They have cancelled my fecking order 2 hours before delivery because of a ‘surge’ in demand. I want my Colin fgs!!

iVampire · 01/09/2020 11:16

That sounds all kinds of wrong

They would have set the maximum number of slots some time ago

So unless they’ve got a lot of staff off (and the surge in demand is actually for staff Covid tests), this really shouldn’t be happening

JimminyCricketwhites · 01/09/2020 11:18

They just can’t manage change! We had 20 substitutions (on a standard weekly shop for 4 people). Hmm

MarshaBradyo · 01/09/2020 11:18

They seem to be in a bad place this week with M&S swap over. I’m going to give them a miss until it calms down.

PickAChew · 01/09/2020 11:21

Is yours the Hatfield depot? I've seen reports that it's been struggling, today.

ElizabethMainwaring · 01/09/2020 11:22

I had a reserved slot for last Thursday between 12 and 1
The driver rang me at 1 and said that he 'had run out of time' and that I had to call customer services.
My replacement delivery on Saturday was due between 12 and 1 and arrived at half past 1.
So it's not just an M&S thing.

championbags · 01/09/2020 11:28

My recent delivery came directly from Waitrose.com and was excellent with no substitutions - and I've just heard they have introduced a £40 minimum spend in October which will be great for me in a small household.
I saw on Twitter loads of Ocado orders were cancelled at the last minute which must have been incredibly frustrating.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 01/09/2020 11:39

Somehow this doesn’t surprise me. Ocado were useless during the lockdown - my login suddenly didn’t work any more (granted, I’d only ordered from them a handful of times but it was most odd that they suddenly had no record of me) and they refused to deliver to my parents despite them being over 70 and regular Ocado customers. They binned off a lot of customers only to start love-bombing them a few weeks ago.

Now they’re binning customers off again because they’re screwed up and can’t manage demand, when they’ve had a year or more to plan for this generally and nearly six months to plan in relation to The Covid Upheaval.

People aren’t going to tolerate being stung twice.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/09/2020 12:06

I might have to switch to Waitrose. I just like Ocado because their own brand stuff is cheap, and I can get a few fancy bits I like in one shop. Plus I was looking forward to M&S delivery.

They keep banging on about their state of the art warehouses, but what good are they if they can’t even deliver the food?!

OP posts:
WhoAmIWhoAreYou · 01/09/2020 12:08

oh no. Thats do frustrating. They really shouldn't be allowed to do that! Can you go out and get your Colin? I'm assuming you mean caterpillar cake?

Polnm · 01/09/2020 12:18

Ours was full of subs and missing items this morning. Not even m&s stuff- more generally

They are on borrowed time with me as m&s stuff is pretty poor apart from fruit and veg anyway.

SpaceOP · 01/09/2020 12:31

I tried to log on yesterday to get a slot for mid weekish - tomorrow or Thursday. No slots until SUNDAY. Then when I tried to log on today, I got put in a Covid-queue.

I've been impressed with their PR campaign ahead of the M&S launch but it's kind of mind boggling that they weren't prepared properly for the switch?

AgnesCastors · 01/09/2020 14:38

Hmm weird. I had a big delivery yesterday £400 (odd) and a small delivery today just for M&S goodies), no problems with either. I’m SE too...

Fuss · 01/09/2020 14:59

Lots of complaints on Facebook about cancellations. Bit shit OP.

DysonDiva · 01/09/2020 15:04

I had a delivery on Saturday that was the worst I've had in 14 years shopping with Ocado. Loads of items missing, and totally silly substitutions.
Their Twitter today has lots of disappointed customers due to both cancellations and incomplete orders - not sure where the problem has been (ie geographically one area) or if it's just general.
Difficult to get slots right now too.

WutheringTights · 01/09/2020 15:10

My delivery on Friday just gone was the worst for a while too. Subs not too bad but more that when I ordered there was loads of stuff out of stock so only managed to order about half what I'd usually order. Frustrating because I pay a premium for premium service and I definitely don't feel I'm getting it at the mo. Planning to switch to Waitrose after Christmas anyway (when we know more about the winter impact of Covid). Don't want to switch at the moment because Ocado did guarantee me weekly deliveries throughout lockdown and suspect that Waitrose won't do the same for new customers.

LurkerTurnedPoster · 01/09/2020 15:10

I have given up with them completely - been a customer for years but they were utterly useless during lock-down. I've been using Waitrose for weekly deliveries since then - can always get a delivery slot, very few missing items or subs and no delivery charge.

Queenoftheashes · 01/09/2020 15:18

I switched to Waitrose. It’s great. Except they sent me the wrong butternut squash today (first world problems). Ocado didn’t impress me through lockdown - I could cope with no deliveries but not being able to access the website at all was so annoying. Eg I had wanted to send a link to someone of some pans i had bought. Also for some reason they don’t seem to stock buttermilk, or didn’t when I needed it.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 01/09/2020 15:22

They literally have one job! A delivery service is worth nothing if they cancel or can't supply most of what you ordered (with decent subs). They deserve to be binned off.

WildfirePonie · 01/09/2020 15:31

Have you tried Sainsbury deliveries? They have never let me down and i've been using them for years.

somewhereovertherainbutt · 01/09/2020 15:33

Mine too, brilliant service and no substitutions- I'll be using them again
Blackcurrant66 · 01/09/2020 15:36

They used to stock buttermilk but now don’t. It’s annoying.

I’m also fed up with them. Only order every 2-3 weeks for things I can’t easily get locally but now there’s a week long wait for a slot it’s pretty pointless. I’m not that organised with my cooking and shopping.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/09/2020 15:40

I think I’m going to have to sack them off. There’s an M&S near DD’s nursery, but lugging small, tired person home with bags of shopping is why I was looking forward to delivery.

Waitrose it is! Who actually have delivery slots in the next week unlike Ocado!

OP posts:
niceupthedance · 01/09/2020 15:46

Just for balance my waitrose delivery was cancelled 5 minutes before it was due on Saturday. Luckily I can get to the shops.

JacobReesMogadishu · 01/09/2020 15:49

Oh dear. I have an order late Thursday evening. I won’t be impressed if they run out of time or sub loads! Ocado used to be so good for not subbing because it’s either in the warehouse or it isn’t!

Yellowbutterfly1 · 01/09/2020 15:55

I hope my order for tomorrow turns up, I booked it almost 4 weeks ago.

Looks like they’ve taken on too many new customers again just like in March. Of course they will probably deny that again like they did before.
