And what phone that's for?

I got an amazing deal on black Friday 2 years ago. I got 100GB data, Unlimited calls and texts and the Note 9 for £36 a month.

I'm looking to upgrade now for a similar plan and I'm being quoted around the £55 mark.

So I'm curious what you have and what you pay?

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 24/08/2020 09:52

£0
For 5gb data, unlimited calls and unlimited texts and i have a Samsung s9 which I bought outright.
Dh managed to get it included for free in our broadband package when it was up for renewal.

Blingismything · 24/08/2020 09:54

Bought phone myself, in March 17, an IPhone 8 for £600.00, unlimited data, never use calls or texts but there are loads of them included. £12.00 a month with Vodafone, but is going up soon so will shop around. Would like a newer model but the battery is still excellent so will keep it for a while longer.

NeverTwerkNaked · 24/08/2020 09:54

£8 a month - can't believe I used to pay huge amounts. I get all the data /calls I need for this.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 24/08/2020 09:56

Another Giffgaff user. Was on £10/month but downgraded to £8/month as I'm working from home and so was using WiFi rather than data (you can change your goody bag month to month so I can upgrade if I go back to the office and need data when I commute.) Bought phone outright on Amazon, DC wanted iPhones but didn't mind older models so they got refurbed handsets from Music Magpie.

Rumbletumbleinmytummy · 24/08/2020 09:58

Oh mate, I think om paying too much lol.

negomi90 · 24/08/2020 09:59

£20 a month - sim only and I've been with my phone provider a long time (so they give me nice deals when I threaten to leave.
100 Gb a month, unlimited texts and calls.
I don't have wifi/other internet so the data is used up being a hotspot for my laptop.

SpringFan · 24/08/2020 10:00

£5.37 with Plusnet SIM only. 1.5Gb data which is plenty for me, unlimited texts, 2000 minutes calls. I pay £9 for DS who has unlimited calls and texts and 8GB data also on Plusnet. SIM only.
Bought £150 Samsung during lockdown as my old one gave up the ghost.

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 24/08/2020 10:03

Contract was due for phone upgrade but I went sim only for 12 months. I pay £21 or £23 (can't remember) for unlimited calls and messages and 100gb data on EE.
I mighr upgrade the phone after the 12months or stay sim only, I haven't decided yet.

porkandbeans · 24/08/2020 10:06

I pay £20 per month with 02 including a new phone. It was through mobile phones direct and they do cash back. Works out as £3.50 a month if I make all the cashback claims. Takes seconds to do

LakieLady · 24/08/2020 10:08

Vodadfone, £14.25 a month, cheap as chips Samsung J3, 5gb data, unlimited calls and texts. We got new work phones around the same time as my old phone died. I wanted the same model, as trying to get used to 2 new phones at the same time would have done my head in. I use very little data and have never got close to my limit.

I need to contact them actually, as I'm sure I must have paid for the phone by now. I've had it for around 3 years.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/08/2020 10:17

Yes, you're paying far too much Lakie. If you don't use any data, you can get a basic data with unlimited minutes and texts for around a fiver a month, so you're effectively paying nearly a tenner per month or around £100 a year for the phone, and cheap decent enough smartphones are around £100 or even less - I think Tesco do a contract for £7.50 pm that comes with a free smartphone.

NopeNotToday5 · 24/08/2020 10:20

Sim only contract £11 for unlimited minuets, text and 4GB data.

Scarlettpixie · 24/08/2020 10:22

Usually around £6 per month with Smarty who I changed to when my old contract ran out. I decided to keep my iphone 7. The monthly fee with Smarty is £10 but if you don't use all of your data there is a discount. Can't recall how much I get but I never think about it and always get a discount unless we are on holiday :)

LaurieFairyCake · 24/08/2020 10:24

£101 a month

Unlimited everything. Contract with what was an up to date phone two years ago.

00100001 · 24/08/2020 10:25

iD mobile. £5pm, SIM only, 1gb data, 5000 texts, unlimited calls.

MaidenMotherCrone · 24/08/2020 10:27

iPhone SE, unlimited everything. 128gb.
Vodaphone. £50 month.

AKissAndASmile · 24/08/2020 10:27

Phone bought outright
SIM only deal at £5 per month: 2gb data unlimited calls and texts
With WiFi at home and at work I don't need more than 2gb

OnceUponATimeInHollywood · 24/08/2020 10:28

Mines is a Samsung S20. 48GB, unlimited calls and texts. 100min calls to the EU and its the entertainment package. £49. Thats the price after 15% off.

unmarkedbythat · 24/08/2020 10:30

I am in the last month of my EE contract; it was a 2 year one, Samsung s8 with unlimited calls and texts and 8GB data for £28 a month. I don't need a new phone so am swapping to a SIM only deal, probably with PlusNet as they use the EE network and offer much, much cheaper SIM only plans than EE do.

123feraverto · 24/08/2020 10:31

Bought the phone from eBay
Have sim only voxi £10 8gb data but social media data is unlimited

LakieLady · 24/08/2020 10:32

Yes, @BarbaraofSeville, I know! And thanks for the link.

I thought I was stuck with Vodafone as no other network has decent coverage here and in the middle of town, but the MSE link tells me that the most appropriate cheap deal uses Vodafone, which is great. I've just paid for this month, so will give it a couple of weeks and then switch.

FizzyPink · 24/08/2020 10:36

I think I have the iPhone 8 that does absolutely nothing that my previous iPhone 7 didn’t do and I’ve been paying £47 a month for the last 2 years. I literally use it connected to the WiFi either at home or in the office and maybe 1gb outside of that so it’s a total waste of money.

When the contract expires next month I’ll just get a sim only deal. DP is appalled I wouldn’t upgrade to the latest model but what’s the point?! The only thing I’d like is the better camera but he has one of the newer bigger ones and I don’t like it because I need two hands to play candy crush Blush

cariadlet · 24/08/2020 10:37

SIM only with ID mobile. £3.99 a month for 1,000 mb data (I mostly use the Internet over wifi so never get anywhere near that), 150 minutes of calls and unlimited texts.

IamMaz · 24/08/2020 10:38

GiffGaff here too. £5 monthly.
500.00 MB data, unlimited calls and texts.
