And what phone that's for?

I got an amazing deal on black Friday 2 years ago. I got 100GB data, Unlimited calls and texts and the Note 9 for £36 a month.

I'm looking to upgrade now for a similar plan and I'm being quoted around the £55 mark.

So I'm curious what you have and what you pay?

23 a month in vat sim only 12 month contract
Unlimited internet / tethering
Unlimited Text &Calls
EE
Phone is a iPhone 8plus out of contract

Bwlch · 25/08/2020 23:51

I just have PAYG. I'm not a big phone user. I doubt I spend £30 a year.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 26/08/2020 00:03

Mine is around a £100 a month. I have an iPhone 11 and my cellular Apple Watch on it

Babyvibe · 26/08/2020 00:09

£50 per month for samsung galaxy s20. I like having new phones and it's expensive to buy newly released phones straight up. Even if it costs more in the long run it doesn't bother me too much, better than having to pay out £900 every time I want a new phone.

RightOnTheEdge · 26/08/2020 00:09

I pay £21 per month for a Huawei pro20 unlimited calls and texts and 1GB of data.

rutabellsum · 26/08/2020 00:16

I figured buying a new unlocked iphone directly from Apple on 24 months equal instalments with 0% interest and pay £8 a month on top for a sim with enough data and contract free, is no hassle and best package out there, totalling lower then many contract deals. Works best for me anyway.

bwfcchick88 · 26/08/2020 09:02

@bruffin

,Personally I prefer to buy a phone outright and have a cheap SIM deal as I tend to keep my phone longer than 2 years The phone become yours after 2 years anyway, so don't see the point of paying it out in one go when you effectively have an interest free deal. Either way £8 for 2gb is way too expensive
Yeah, I'd agree that £8 for 2gb is dear when compared to Plusnet and others, but I like the flexibility of giffgaff. It just works out better for me personally than paying £35 for a contract (which is what I was quoted when I first got my S10e last year).
bwfcchick88 · 26/08/2020 09:03

Sorry, 2gb for £8!

PrimalLass · 26/08/2020 09:04

Loads - around £50 a month for an iPhon XR and 60 GB data. But I have rubbish wifi and tether my laptop for work a lot.

Fluffy40 · 26/08/2020 09:13

Sim only on three, 12.00 per month with plenty of data

RandomLondoner · 26/08/2020 09:18

I buy a used phone in the range £100 to £200 and use PAYG.

I currently pay £2.50 a month (actually £10 every four months) to 1p mobile to stay connected. The £10 gives me four months of connection as well as being a credit towards calls/texts/data.

I do also have wifi at home, so I don't need to use my phone for data, and I avoid doing so when I'm out.

WellThatHurt · 26/08/2020 09:25

I used o2 refresh where you split the payment for tariff and phone. I did pay £55 a month for the first 3 months (unlimited everything + galaxy s20) but then paid off the handset and now pay £18 a month for 100gb data, ultd calls and texts

JollyAndBright · 26/08/2020 10:00

@Graphista
Basically Apple etc DELIBERATELY design their tech to only last Max 2 years so that you'll have to buy again!

That’s a myth, at least for Apple,
I’ve known iPhones to last for 5+ years and work perfectly well.

DP buys the latest iPhone every other year (he doesn’t usually bother with the S models as there is never usually too much of an upgrade in specs.... or something like that)
When he upgrades I usually take his old model, and pass mine onto DS.

The 4 year old 7 DS currently has is immaculate, still has 90% Battery life and is just as good as it was in 2016 when we bought it.

DN is using my old 5s which is 7 years old and although the battery isn’t great and it can’t be updated to IOS14 it still works perfectly well, you just have to charge it fairly frequently.
It’s ideal for a 15year old who tends not to look after things very well.

happymummy12345 · 26/08/2020 11:22

I pay £40 for unlimited minutes and texts and 20gb data. I have the iPhone 8. I'm not bothered about the latest phone and wouldn't pay more than I pay now to have one

Rebelwithallthecause · 26/08/2020 11:27

Plusnet mobile £8 a month 10gb data

Rebelwithallthecause · 26/08/2020 11:28

I have an iPhone 8 and won’t be upgrading to the new iPhones because they are too big for my hand

TwoZeroTwoZero · 26/08/2020 12:57

£21 a month for a rolling contract with o2. 10gb data and unlimited calls and texts. I have a 4 y old HTC u11.

Horsemad · 26/08/2020 16:28

I'm with O2, I think they've become quite expensive (or has everyone else become cheap?! 😉) and when my agreement runs out after Xmas, I'll go elsewhere.

I buy my phone myself and pay £13 per mth for 5GB and unlimited texts/calls.

bruffin · 26/08/2020 17:06

@Horsemad
Look on mobiles.co.uk or uswitch. I've been getting my phones and recently a sim on there for years . It is so much cheaper through them

AbyssusAbyssumInvocat · 26/08/2020 20:15

@JollyAndBright I don't think it's a myth. I'm pretty sure they got fined a shit load for it.

OnlyaMummy · 26/08/2020 20:19

£27 a month for 2 years. Samsung A51 unlimited calls, texts and 20GB of Internet. im with 3

Horsemad · 26/08/2020 20:21

Thanks @bruffin, I will. 👍

aLilNonnyMouse · 26/08/2020 20:25

£10 a month, unlimited calls and texts plus 10gb of data. I'm rarely away from wifi and tend to not watch videos so I've never run out of data before.

It's a rolling contract now so it doesn't end unless I decide to change it.

countdowntonap · 26/08/2020 20:34

£34 month.
IPhone 11 Pro
60GB month. Unlimited calls/texts
Paid £400 upfront for phone
