And what phone that's for?

I got an amazing deal on black Friday 2 years ago. I got 100GB data, Unlimited calls and texts and the Note 9 for £36 a month.

I'm looking to upgrade now for a similar plan and I'm being quoted around the £55 mark.

So I'm curious what you have and what you pay?

PlusNet £10 a month for 10Gb of data and unlimited texts and calls. I bought my phone. It saves me several hundred pounds over having a phone and SIM contract.

Fishyfinger · 24/08/2020 09:17

@Belindabelle

I bought my phone and pay £10 a month for GiffGaff 6GB of data unlimited texts and calls.
Same here.

I buy a new phone every couple of years or so for around£150.

I don't have a landline either so all calls come out of this.

Stinkywizzleteets · 24/08/2020 09:17

Bought phone outright iPhone pro max
Pay £20 pm for unlimited calls & texts and 100gb data with 3 - but I’m going to downgrade as I don’t need the data or calls anymore as I’m mostly home based now.

Spandang · 24/08/2020 09:18

Phone bought outright. O2. £10.30 a month, unlimited calls, texts and 8gb data

nestisflown · 24/08/2020 09:18

£20 a month 100GB data unlimited calls & texts sim only. I was like you on a £36 a month deal with EE and when it came to upgrading this year the newest phone costs were obscene. If you’re really set on upgrading, go to car phone warehouse for the cheaper deals as they get their handsets from cheaper countries, whereas direct providers aren’t allowed to. So their deals are often less than £40.

For me I decided that my IPhone XS was good enough and I didn’t need to upgrade- it’s just a nice to have. I’m happy with the cost and from now on won’t bother upgrading- will just use my husband’s old work phones (which are always the newest models) if mine breaks.

Sim only, Giff Gaff £6 per month unlimited texts, calls and data

19lottie82 · 24/08/2020 09:19

I bought my iPhone outright 2 years ago and I have a £10 a month sim only with Three. Unlimited texts and calls plus 8gb.

Pebblexox · 24/08/2020 09:20

£58 per month, unlimited data, calls and texts.

Sanjii · 24/08/2020 09:22

I bought my phone and pay £8 a month for GiffGaff. 2GB I think sind plenty of mins and texts which I never us. and free giffgaff to giffgaff calls.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/08/2020 09:22

I pay a fiver a month for 2 Gb on Lebara and got my Motorola G7 Plus for £75 after cashback on a Black Friday deal last year. Currently the Motorola G8 range which is the latest one is around £200 depending on which model you get.

I hope mine lasts at least 3 or 4 years because it's such a PITA swapping over to a new handset. The phone seems very good to me and I honestly don't know what extra you get for phones that cost 5-10 times the price or more.

Do you use 100 Gb data a month? I assume that you don't have home broadband and use your phone service for streaming?

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 24/08/2020 09:22

With 3.
£22 a month for galaxy a40. Unlimited texts and calls. 12gig internet

Kids have same phone with virgin. £14 a month, but only 1 gig internet.
Theirs were put up to 10 gig (free) during lockdown.

Aragog · 24/08/2020 09:26

Bought phone upfront
Have a sim only contract from Vodafone.
£20 a month for 60gb data. Calls and texts are unlimited.
It's 5g data included if my phone/area had it.

Saladd0dger · 24/08/2020 09:27

I pay £6 a month on giffgaff. I also keep the same phone till it no longer works. DD uses the larger giffgaff bundles been a teen and they always last her the month

CoRhona · 24/08/2020 09:28

If you're a family, Sky is brilliant. DH has a work phone but me and 3 DC have Sky - £24 pm total and all unused data gets held on our account which I can dish out to whoever needs it.

I always buy phones outright too.

dannydyerismydad · 24/08/2020 09:29

I pay £7 a month to 3. Unlimited calls and texts and 4GB data.

I buy a new phone outright every 4-5 years.

Tohaveandtohold · 24/08/2020 09:29

Currently, £16 for the iPhone 6, 1 gig data and unlimited calls and text from ID mobile.

RedCatBlueCat · 24/08/2020 09:30

SIM only. £6/month. More data, calls and texts than I ever use, but I suspect much less than all of you guys use.
If you are getting through 20/30/40+GB of mobile data, do you not have wifi? For us it's much cheaper to have unlimited broadband and calls at £35 and a cheep mobile contract each than an expensive contract each. Are we luddites using home wifi?

ladyballer · 24/08/2020 09:30

£80 a month

Pimmsypimms · 24/08/2020 09:32

Sim only rolling contract with Talk mobile, 3000 minutes, 5000 texts and 4gb of data for £7.50.

onlinelinda · 24/08/2020 09:32

An iPhone 11 for £25 a month, unlimited calls and texts plus 10gb data.

cherrytree63 · 24/08/2020 09:40

Sim only with Sky for £3.50 PM, unlimited texts and calls and 2g data.
My OH has the same deal. We rarely use all our data and have about 38g in our "piggy bank" that we can use if needed.

DDiva · 24/08/2020 09:41

Another giff gaff here....

BarbaraofSeville · 24/08/2020 09:45

Are we luddites using home wifi

Well we use wifi at home too, but we have virtually no mobile signal in our house anyway, so it would never work for reliable basic internet, let alone streaming.

The reason I'm with Lebara is that I've tried all the cheapy mobile providers (GiffGaff, Smarty, PlusNet) to see which signal out of 3, O2 or EE is best and this seems the least worst (runs on Vodafone network).

OneTC · 24/08/2020 09:48

I buy a phone second hand for around 150-250 and have either a 15/month PAYG with 8+8 GB and unlimited everything or a 30/month PAYG bundle that's 60+8 GB and unlimited everything else

MissMooMoo · 24/08/2020 09:48

I have had the same sim only contract with 3 for 5 years! £17 for unlimited data, 200 txt, 200 minutes. They just wrote to me to say my "contract" has ended (it was initially for 12 months) and I'm moving to another sim only that's £11 for 6 months and then £22 a month. Unlimited everything.
