Neighbour leaned out of the window to look at me?

I was vaping in the garden standing by my back door, had short shorts and a vest top on (I'm obese so would be very uncomfortable being seen) as no one can see into my garden otherwise.

My neighbour opened her upstairs window and leaned out of the window to look at me, I was on the phone so stared back, she looked very embarrassed and closed the window again.

Would you bring it up with her? I found it really strange she would even want to do that as she really has to stretch to see me.

Maybe she smelt something and was looking to see what it was... realised then felt embarrassed

anon5000 · 22/08/2020 19:11

Perhaps she heard a noise and wondered what it was?

ShirleyPhallus · 22/08/2020 19:11

This is just such a non-event. In the words of Elsa, “let it gooooooo”

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 22/08/2020 19:13

She was looking for the source of the smell 🤦🏼‍♀️.

BigBadVoodooHat · 22/08/2020 19:14

“Neighbour leaned out of the window to look at me.”

Greatest thread title on MN ever! Grin

You need to get round there ASAP and have it out with her. Neighbour from hell!!!! Angry

Capsulate · 22/08/2020 19:14

I would also have thought she either heard or smelt something and wanted to see if it was you or an intruder or something? If she knew it was you and was rubber necking, that is really quite weird of her, yes.

DeeTractor · 22/08/2020 19:14

Log it with 101

ClaraJude · 22/08/2020 19:15

Sounds like she maybe smelled the vape and was checking where it came from. I wouldn’t let it worry you, it doesn’t sound like a big deal.

eddiemairswife · 22/08/2020 19:16

Move house.

notangelinajolie · 22/08/2020 19:17

Bad smell ?🎂

Cheeseandlobster · 22/08/2020 19:17

Are you fucking serious? Get a life

BreconBeBuggered · 22/08/2020 19:17

Neighbour: I was at my window and my NDN stared right up at me.

Clive222 · 22/08/2020 19:17

Um. I think you’ll find even on Mumsnet people are going to struggle to get excited about a woman looking out of her window

Crimblecrumble1990 · 22/08/2020 19:18

Yes she probably saw the vape smoke and wondered what it was?

willowmelangell · 22/08/2020 19:18

I smelled some sort of smoke today. Went into the garden, the ndn had toast.
Seems quite normal to investigate strange smells or noises. Nothing personal to you.

purpleme12 · 22/08/2020 19:19

So she looked at you? So what?

ZenZebra · 22/08/2020 19:19

She was probably wondering why you were looking up at her window...

YouJustDoYou · 22/08/2020 19:21

Of it were me id be wondering where all the vape smoke was wafting in from.

Icequeen01 · 22/08/2020 19:22

Or may be she was fed up hearing your conversation whilst you chatted on your phone in the garden (one of my pet hates). May be she's going to come round and have it out with you!

PhilCornwall1 · 22/08/2020 19:28

In the words of Elsa, “let it gooooooo”

Oh great, thanks for that!! Ear worm for the evening now!!! Grin

Nanny0gg · 22/08/2020 19:30

It was the smell or she noticed the vapour.

And if she could smell it in her house she's going to look, isn't she?

InfiniteSheldon · 22/08/2020 19:30

Probably wondered what the vile stench was. Smokers, I find, have no idea how gross they are.

Austereorange · 22/08/2020 19:30

If I heard someone talking, or smelt something unfamiliar at the back of my house I would check the source even if that meant leaning out.

mollibu · 22/08/2020 19:31

Oh get a GRIP.

She was probably wondering where the big gust of smoke came from.

MorganKitten · 22/08/2020 19:32

Vape smoke can smell disgusting, probably trying to find out what the smell was.
