To ask how often you shower?

I only shower 3-4 times a week, to be honest. Is that gross? I especially will skip a shower if my hair looks good.

I do, however, change undies every morning.

I only exercise 3 times a week- which is yoga. Not much sweating as it's not hot yoga. But I don't smell.

I do change underwear often and put on clean clothes. I don't have a 'odour' unless I cook bacon - then I smell like bacon all day and have to get in the shower.

If your partner smells after bathing he's showering/bathing too hot and sweating immediately then the sweat is drying on him and causing the smell.

I'm sorry it's impossible for you not to smell people are lying to you.

I shower at least daily. I have thick, non greasy curly hair which I was once or twice a week usually, some times more. If it looks good I put a shower cap on.

@BahHumbygge

Ah I thought so Wink People with dry flaky earwax don’t get body odour as they don’t have the same kind of sebum as gunky earwax people, which reacts with bacteria that causes smells.
that's really interesting. I have dry ear wax an have never had BO, although DS1 (15) has very waxy ears and also doesn't have BO either
Happymum12345 · 14/08/2020 22:52

Everyday. Sometimes twice or even three times.

FunnysInLaJardin · 14/08/2020 22:52

Incidentally OP I shower and wash my hair every other day which is more than enough for me. The DC do the same and DH showers every day

Snaptheirfingers · 14/08/2020 22:52

Lockheart there is showering and there is hygiene. My DH is a shower once a day on waking person, but will then put on dirty clothes including underwear yuck/never washed dressing gown double yuck and then go to the work/hospital/clinic/shop/pub and not shower or change clothes afterwards. He recently went to a hospital appointment on Monday and didn't change his clothes until the weekend. We sleep in different rooms.....

misschoices · 14/08/2020 22:54

@FunnysInLaJardin

I don't have a body odour either. I can smell like a bbq pit, if I bbq. But not that onion smell.

I think it may be our diet, I eat very healthy all the time. Always have due to my mum's upbringing on real food, Not very much processed foods.

I'm also a pescatarian- I only eat seafood and zero meat or cheese. Maybe it's our diet?

"I'm sorry it's impossible for you to smell people are lying to you"? Hmm

Are you really this arrogant in real life?

Can you not conceive of the fact that other people bodies function slightly differently to yours?

Every body is different. Some will need washing twice a day and will still smell. Others only twice a week. Neither are wrong.

LovelyWeekAway · 14/08/2020 22:56

Twice a day
Once in the morning
Once at night - I like to feel super clean getting into bed.

Hair is washed 5 days out of 7, just tie it up I the shower on days it’s not washed.

misschoices · 14/08/2020 22:56

@FunnysInLaJardin

My partner can shower twice a day and smells like onions or cheese. It's so frustrating. He carries deodorant with him at all times, and I am now worried he has health issues?

I'm not sure I follow. I haven't mentioned changing clothes. I agree your husband's laundry habits seem less than ideal!
misschoices · 14/08/2020 22:59

@Lockheart

The poster is probably nice in real life.

To that poster - my mum or sister or brother would have told me in my 20 years of doing this that I smell.

So, no, I don't have body odour. Unless I cook bacon or bbq for guests. That smell is in my hair and clothes and I jump right in the shower.

FedUpofLockdown123 · 14/08/2020 22:59

That dry ear wax thing is really interesting. My ex had dry ear wax and he never smelled if he skipped a shower or didn't use deodorant. This was rare as he was a clean freak but there would be the odd occasion when hungover (not so rare 🙄). I have the gungy ear wax and I smell if I don't wash daily and could never get away without using deodorant.

Lockheart · 14/08/2020 23:01

I mean I'm a daily showerer for the most part (sometimes multiple times a day, sometimes not for a couple of days) but I can't imagine being so ignorant as to assume that someone MUST smell if they have a different routine to me.

Kipperandarthur · 14/08/2020 23:02

Bath in morning and shower at night. Sometimes extra shower before bedtime in this heat. Cannot imagine not showering twice a day. Yuck to not shower at least once a day.

AlwaysLatte · 14/08/2020 23:02

I think it's a bit strange to not shower at least once a day! But everyone is different so do whatever suits you!

Panpig · 14/08/2020 23:03

Twice a day

Rosieposy4 · 14/08/2020 23:03

Shower every morning before work, bath every night before bed.
Sorry but people who don’t shower/bath every day do smell.
I would never tell them, even if pressed but I can definitely smell the unwashed ( as can everyone else)

Edinburghfalls · 14/08/2020 23:03

I feel so much better climbing into my bed after a shower. In lots of (warmer? Countries it’s customary to shower at night. I can’t understand how people use public transport/spend the day out and about and then climb into their bed without a shower. I shower every night and then again about 50% of the time. In the summer I shower every morning and night and then hop in whenever I get too hot to wet my hair!

sbhydrogen · 14/08/2020 23:04

Hmm, normally every day, but sometimes (like today!) I'll skip it. I don't smell, although I do feel clammy and greasy. Maybe I'll have a quick body shower before I sleep.

Cloudwatching57 · 14/08/2020 23:04

I’m just like you, in fact even less - 2/3 times a week. I don’t smell, I don’t sweat very often and I shower in order to wash my hair with starts to be greasy around day 3. If the weather is really hot as it has been this week I’ll shower daily but that’s only to cool down. I also do yoga twice a week and time my showers for after/ the evening of yoga. My otger exercise is just walking. Strangely people sometimes comment that I smell nice...even though I rarely wear any perfume..?
My OH showers daily and never smells...no idea if he would smell if he skipped a shower - literally never noticed a BO smell in the 12 years we’ve been together!

misschoices · 14/08/2020 23:04

My ear wax is v. Dry. My partner's is dark orange and slimy but gets it out with cotton tips.

Mine is flaky, and I also have dry skin; whereas partners is oily no matter how much he showers.

Maybe we just have different bodies, but no, I don't have 'odour'.

OP posts:
WinWinnieTheWay · 14/08/2020 23:06

Every day. I might do a Victorian wash at the sink if it's been cold and the hot water is unreliable.

In heat like this I'll have a bath in the evening too. I can't bear to be sticky.
