To ask how often you shower?

I only shower 3-4 times a week, to be honest. Is that gross? I especially will skip a shower if my hair looks good.

I do, however, change undies every morning.

I can sometimes shower every 3 days without feeling too smelly! I am not very active. This hot weather makes me sweat more so end up showering daily or maybe even more than once a day. To be honest I don't really rely on how long it's been i just shower when I think i need it!

3rdNamechange · 15/08/2020 13:59

Morning and night. Can't go to work without and can't get into bed without.

Are you suggesting I kick him out due to his body odour and fungus problem? That is harsh- tho I'm now wondering how long I can be with someone who smells all day.

He won't wear the cologne I bought him for Christmas, he won't do anything about the smell.
Well, I wouldn't stay with someone who had so little disregard for basic personal health and hygiene.

devildeepbluesea · 15/08/2020 14:02

Every day after exercise. Even on the odd occasion I don't exercise, I don't feel clean until I've showered.
Recently I've been showering twice a day, after exercise and then after swimming in the sea later on.

IamHyouweegobshite · 15/08/2020 14:05

I have to shower every morning, it wakes me up, feel nice and fresh too. Although, in the hot weather I may have up to 3 showers, just to cool off and not feel so grimy. I only wash my hair every other day.

Do you find the French unhygienic? By your standard, they're 'dirty'.

Why do they live longer than us? Why are they slimmer? Why is their skin fabulous?

If you showering everyday should be the norm, then why is our life expectancy much lower than the the non showering French?
Most Japanese people shower every night, and live longer, are slimmer and have better skin than either French or British people.

Maybe these things aren't related to frequency of showering.

RowboatsinDisguise · 15/08/2020 14:06

Varies a lot. When I’m exercising more (ie not in the third trimester of pregnancy) I definitely shower every day, occasionally more, as I’ll always need a wash post-run etc. I skip the odd day when not training every day though.

Lovely1a2b3c · 15/08/2020 14:11

I wash twice a day (usually morning or sometimes afternoon if I'm being lazy/doing housework; always immediately before bed).

I do think every other day is less hygienic; particularly if you leave the house on the day that you don't wash because you're potentially getting bacteria/viruses on your arms/legs/hair when out and about.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 15/08/2020 14:14

Every day, I'm also perimenopausal and although I've not yet been subjected to hot flushes etc, I am very aware of a change in body odour.
I would feel and smell grim if I didn't shower daily.

FrangipaniBlue · 15/08/2020 14:15

I am loving this thread 🍿

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 15/08/2020 14:20

Every day no exceptions, sometimes twice a day recently in the very hot weather.
Ds has been bathed or showered every day too except for the odd occasion, he's 6.
If you dont shower every day in the summer you will smell , sorry if you think you dont , but you do!

Runningjump · 15/08/2020 14:24

I find it absolutely disgusting that there are adults who don't shower at least once a day.

BeachBed · 15/08/2020 14:26

These threads amaze me! Everyone talking about skin and BO, has nobody mentioned that your arse and fanjo need a good scrubbing daily?

Bluemascara4 · 15/08/2020 14:27

Daily - twice on working days .

He believes the tablets will harm him, that he will treat it naturally as he has done for 15 years.

He's been treating it naturally for 15 years, I'm beginning to think he's not very bright if he thinks this is working for him.
And yes I would bin him off if he has so little regard for personal hygiene, it would be embarrassing to me to be with him. When you're out and about other people can smell him too ya know.

misschoices · 15/08/2020 14:28

@BadLad

I know a few Japanese people at my company, and their skin is full of spots.

English people have much better skin in my opinion, and the French even better - no spots when I travel there.

Also, French people are not dirty. I find the old stereotype of the French being dirty and not showering enough to be utter nonsense.

Puppywithattitude · 15/08/2020 14:28

Apparently if you are an adult normal after toilet wiping takes care of that.

copperoliver · 15/08/2020 14:31

Twice a day or one bath and one shower. X

Gwenhwyfar · 15/08/2020 14:31

I don't believe a shower every day is necessary, except in this heatwave or after tough exercise, but a wash every day and anti-perspirant deodorant is.
However, I have greasy hair so if I'm leaving the house I usually end up showering every day anyway.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/08/2020 14:33

" I find the old stereotype of the French being dirty and not showering enough to be utter nonsense."

When I was there over 20 yeas ago most of the deodorants in the shops weren't anti-perspirant so they were just perfuming the sweat rather than blocking it. That did make a difference. I think that's changed now though.
People in different countries can smell differently of course because of what they eat.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/08/2020 14:34

"in the hot weather I may have up to 3 showers, just to cool off and not feel so grimy"

What a waste of water? Why can't one or two of these be a flannel wash?

attackedbycritters · 15/08/2020 14:39

Since Harvard university think daily washing is most likely to be harmful than good, I will continue to disgust people here and not shower every day just because some people think I should

I also rarely wear antiperspirant or deodorant

Cooroo · 15/08/2020 14:41

I shower after cycling which is every 2 or 3 days, and wash hair at the same time. If it's really hot and sweaty or I have sun block on I'll shower before bed. I usually wash before bed if not a shower.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 15/08/2020 14:41

Daily

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 15/08/2020 14:44

Sometimes more if working or hot and sweaty
