To ask how often you shower?

I only shower 3-4 times a week, to be honest. Is that gross? I especially will skip a shower if my hair looks good.

I do, however, change undies every morning.

OP posts:

It takes much less water to wash the bum hands and face than to have a full shower

Plus pits and feet and it’s quicker to dry yourself too. I have been known to do this to save time.

Scarby9 · 15/08/2020 09:04

Usually every other day, though I do 'pits and bits' each morning. Like you, OP, I seem to absorb food smells but not otherwise smell myself, even in hot weather.

During lockdown, when I saw noone within 3 or 4 metres, and then only very rarely and outdoors, I went longer at times. My hair and skin were MUCH better then.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2020 09:11

@misschoices Switch him to dettol soap and buy a Japanese salux cloth so he can really scrub the skin off.

He can try odaban antiperspirant. It’s strong stuff.

hauntedvagina · 15/08/2020 09:13

I shower and wash hair every other day. I wash the children probably twice a week.

Bed sheets and towels get washed every other week. Don't understand to towel washing obsession, you use them when at your cleanest Wink

Downstairs is hoovered two or three times a week, upstairs every other week.

I clean my oven and fridge maybe twice a year.

I clean my bathroom every week. If it's yellow we let it mellow, if it's brown we flush it down.

To some I'm probably a minger, to others a clean freak. I'm happy, I don't smell, my house doesn't smell, we don't waste water.

eaglejulesk · 15/08/2020 09:16

@hauntedvagina - you are a woman after my own heart Smile

ImFree2doasiwant · 15/08/2020 09:19

@eurochick you've asked everyone you know in real life, how often they shower??

You wash your children twice a week??? You only clean your oven and fridge once a year???? How old are your kids? Mine get bathed every night at 2 and 4!

😱😱😱😱😱

I'm no Mrs Hinch but I clean my fridge at least once a month, usually before my first of the month big shop!

My oven I use oven pride probably quarterly but give it a quick going over whenever I clean the kitchen!

Mammyloveswine · 15/08/2020 09:29

@hauntedvagina sorry I misread, glad you clean your oven and fridge more than I thought Grin

MarshallHain · 15/08/2020 09:29

At least once a day. Sometimes 3 times a day in summer.

hauntedvagina · 15/08/2020 09:32

@Mammyloveswine what are your children doing that requires daily bathing? Unless they're rolling in mud every day there is absolutely no need to give a child a bath every day.

hauntedvagina · 15/08/2020 09:39

@eaglejulesk why thank you Wink I'm a child of the 80's, I was bathed once a week and left to dry in front on the TV, watching Bullseye and eating a slice of cheese on toast.

I do wonder how often people would be washing if baths were still the norm, especially when it came to washing hair with that go awful shower head you used to have to try and wrangle over the taps. One of the attachments would undoubtedly pop off at some point either freezing you or giving you third degree scalp burns.

zingally · 15/08/2020 09:54

I aim for every day, but it doesn't always happen. Sometimes it's every 2 or 3 days.
I don't have issues with body odour, and haven't worn deodorant for years and years. Can't even remember when I last put some on.

SerenDippitty · 15/08/2020 09:59

I find my pits are sweatier and smellier when they’re shaved. Anyone else find this?

attackedbycritters · 15/08/2020 10:07

That may be correct, The hairs probably help the sweat evaporate, meaning there is not a warm wet place for smelly bogies to grow

LioneIRichTea · 15/08/2020 10:15

ImFree2doasiwant · 15/08/2020 10:15

@hauntedvagina I don't have a shower in my house, and therefore have a bath every other day, on average. Some times more if I get dirty/sweaty, sometimes less. I also remember the once weekly bath and hair wash. I also remember the pecking order - mum, me, brother, dad. Poor dad.

labazsisgoingmad · 15/08/2020 10:15

every morning all year but in summer often at night as well. hair washed every 2-3 days

upsidedownwavylegs · 15/08/2020 10:16

I love how OP has repeated that despite her infrequent bathing she really doesn’t smell, then it becomes apparent that there’s a pattern of her always being able to smell a bad smell off people she lives with Grin

Also how she’s tried to turn it around so that the daily five minute showerers can’t be getting really clean unlike her with her 20-30 minute showers. Wonder why your skin’s bad OP!

Nottherealslimshady · 15/08/2020 10:18

Everyother day max tbh, and I wash my hair once a week. It's never greasy, I dont smell. I clean my face every day. I think it's a waste of water and bad for the hair and skin personally if I'm going out somewhere then I shower beforehand and i notice the decrease in quality of my hair and skin if i have a run of events and have to shower and wash my hair every day.

quodvox · 15/08/2020 10:25

Couple of times a year.

Sunshiney1981 · 15/08/2020 10:31

OP I don’t think you’re weird.
I shower most days but not every single one without fail. On the days I don’t, I have a body wash at the sink. It’s very easy...
I also have clean clothes, underwear and deodorant.
Those saying it’s disgusting not to shower daily without fail I think are being OTT.
It’s actually better for skin and hair NOT to strip it of oils too frequently.
IMHO we live in a too sterile world. Covid is only going to make this worse with all the antibacterial soaps, wipes, sprays, gels etc.
Your skin has its own good bacteria including the skin on your hands, face, vagina etc. If you kill it all off you disrupt the balance.

In this hot weather though, I’m definitely showering daily. Winter not so much.

ExclamationPerfume · 15/08/2020 10:33

It is grim not to shower/bathe every day. I can definitely smell a stale smell on someone if they haven't washed. People are just too polite to say.

Hotandknackered · 15/08/2020 10:35

Every day. Sometimes twice a day or a shower and a bath if it's hot or I have relaxing bath in the evening. I'm going to do some jobs around the house today and clean so I'll shower later rather than this morning. You do what works for you. But I personally like a wash yo feel refreshed!

TokyoSushi · 15/08/2020 10:37

At least daily, sometimes twice if going out/exercise. It would be a very rare day indeed if I didn't have a shower.

RuthW · 15/08/2020 10:37

Daily. I can't leave the house after a nights sleep without a shower as I stink.

Hairwash every 2-3 days.

Dd (adult) showers 3 times a week and doesn't smell.
