To only vacuum twice weekly?

BadEyeBri · 14/08/2020 17:50

Just reading another thread and someone mentioned vacuuming 3 (!) times a day. How often do y'all vacuum? Twice weekly in my house. I know we are lazy but it's grand, no one has died (yet?). I'm fairly sure there's nothing that will make me up my vacuuming levels either
Am I a full on dirty mare leading my poor DH into a life of squalor and disease? AIBU in not vacuuming more????

if you have no pets or carpet I think twice a week is ok

I have both and hoover everyday. Im getting rid of my carpet soon so I will cut it to every other day

Yesterdayforgotten · 15/08/2020 18:42

Vacuum downstairs minimally every other day as have young dc so nothing stays clean for long. I hoover rugs and the hard floors (have a hoover that is suitable for both) and find it easier to do whole lot rather than sweep some and hoovering rest and also find it more effective. Wet clean floors about once-twice a week. Upstairs hoovered less often Blush

Lozzat85 · 15/08/2020 18:42

I have a pet dog and a 4 and 5 year old. I would say do it every other day. Just a quick run over! My kids are messy eaters I guess 🤣😂

skodadoda · 15/08/2020 18:45

God lord, I confess I'm an every few weeks...... I feel a bit scuzzy now though, reading that people so it daily

Me too

LeftMyOtherUsernameAtHome · 15/08/2020 18:51

We vacuum at least once a day, but that's because we have a toddler who likes to throw her food Grin Before we had DD it was maybe once or twice a week.

WendyE · 15/08/2020 18:54

I must be a minger as it's once a week in my house - and two cats!😁

Times10 · 15/08/2020 18:59

Downstairs, we try to do it daily (crawling baby around), upstairs, not so often, but we’re a no-shoe upstairs so it doesn’t get as bad as downstairs and the baby doesn’t crawl up there... yet.

Gingerfish91 · 15/08/2020 19:03

Downstairs Every day with the cordless and once a week with the proper hoover. It keeps the pile lifted and the carpets nice for longer. Upstairs
3 or 4 times A week.

nerysw · 15/08/2020 19:07

Once a week throughout (DH not me, hoovering is one of the few things I don't do). I have an 11yo who likes hoovering so she does the kitchen/hall/under the 9yo space at the table more often. I have other priorities in life and can't imagining having the time to do it 3 times a day. If that's what floats people's boats fair enough but I have a job and books to read.

Chloemol · 15/08/2020 19:17

One dog, once a fortnight

clary · 15/08/2020 19:18

I just did downstairs, including sweeping up the crud on the kitchen floor and spot cleaning a couple of random marks (cream tiles!) - biiiig kitchen, living room, hall, study, took me eight minutes.

I'm not boasting or feeling smug, just reassuring those who are concerned that I have still had plenty of time today to do other stuff!

And yy, a carpet fitter once told me that regular hoovering is the best way to keep a carpet nice.

Marble2302 · 15/08/2020 19:28

I have a cat and a 9 year old. I hoover daily and I did when I lived alone. I like a clean house. Upstairs gets done 4 times a week.

Sickoffamilydrama · 15/08/2020 19:30

We seem to be forever hoovering but have hard floors 3 DC who are in and out of the garden shoes are banned but they often have bare feet outside.
Also have pets that seem to fling sawdust a mile from their cage.
We got a GTech bundle and it's all but replaced our broom and our plug in hoover.

Bozlem80 · 15/08/2020 19:31

I vacuum once a week upstairs, everyday downstairs.

NickMarlow · 15/08/2020 19:31

Downstairs at least once a day - we have cats, and a food throwing toddler.
Upstairs - every week or 2 maybe?

Sickoffamilydrama · 15/08/2020 19:31

Didn't actually say how often downstairs at least once a day more like 2/3 times.
Upstairs every few day to a week at most.

HappyBee18 · 15/08/2020 19:44

Once a day. Messy toddler, sandpit and soil in garden played with often. Partner is a construction worker so comes home dusty.

When I lived alone, I hovered less than once a week

Mangofandangoo · 15/08/2020 19:46

One each day but I do have a toddler who leaks crumbs wherever she goes

TheChosenTwo · 15/08/2020 19:49

I do my kitchen about 5 times a day (we have a handheld dyson plugged into a cupboard in the utility room for convenience) because we are a big family and usually have others round too, we cook lots and I despise a crummy kitchen floor!
It takes literally less than a minute, hardly labour intensive and quicker than sweeping and then gathering it up in a dustpan and brush and then going to the bin and putting it away.
The cleaner does the whole house on a Thursday and then I do the whole house on a Sunday or a Monday.

JudesBiggestFan · 15/08/2020 19:54

I'm honestly baffled by how infrequently people vacuum. Three kids, (including a toddler), trailing crumbs, mud and general debris and a cat that sheds hair...at least twice a day here throughout the downstairs. Upstairs once a week. We've had our Henry 10 years and he's had a hard life but he's still going! DH and I both work full time, no cleaner...I just hate mess. I still have a life outside the home, a hectic one...I just don't tend to sit down much when I am home! Everyone has different standards.

Zoejj77 · 15/08/2020 20:22

I have a toddler I could hoover every hour when he’s not at nursery

Notenoughchocolateomg · 15/08/2020 20:31

Upstairs is usually weekly but downstairs I'm more anal about and its right there to grab. My kids make loads of mess and if I can see crumbs, pet hair etc I have to hoover it up.

Notenoughchocolateomg · 15/08/2020 20:32

so downstairs is daily, sometimes twice a day depending on the chapter kids and cat brings in!

Celestine70 · 15/08/2020 20:34

Hm, I do it when I think about it, which is about once per month 😂

sqirrelfriends · 15/08/2020 20:43

The robot vacuum goes around downstairs twice a day, upstairs only gets done once a week if that.
