To think if you chose to go abroad during a pandemic it serves you right?

I get that folk feel they deserve a holiday, but if you travel during the current pandemic you shouldn't complain if rules suddenly change before you get home.

Anyone with half a wit could see that it was a risky thing to do to take a holiday at this time.

Totally agree

BluebellForest836 · 13/08/2020 23:08

Oh bore off.

pooopypants · 13/08/2020 23:08

I think YANBU but I'm sure there will be a pile-on of others who disagree

Comtesse · 13/08/2020 23:09

#bekind eh OP you old charmer

Excited101 · 13/08/2020 23:10

Totally agree. I love holidays, would fly abroad several times a year if I could. There’s not a chance I’d be going atm. It doesn’t need to be a priority for about 99% of people travelling. It’s crazy.

FunnysInLaJardin · 13/08/2020 23:10

Bluebell take it you are in France?

*pooopy tbf most folk disagree with me, but hey, who gives a shit

OP posts:
fartyface · 13/08/2020 23:10

I agree. I am totally responsible for my actions.

And enjoying my holiday in France

dwiz8 · 13/08/2020 23:10

I wholeheartedly agree

People choosing to travel are also choosing to take a risk, they can't then complain when the risk doesn't go to plan

It's absolutely stupid to travel and then whine about the rules changing.

BillywilliamV · 13/08/2020 23:10

What in fucks name is the point of this thread? Why not keep your self-important little smuggeries to yourself?

Gooseygoosey12345 · 13/08/2020 23:11

I don't think "it serves you right" but I do think anyone who travels should accept that it's always a possibility that rules will change and they'll have to make adjustments. It would be naive to think it's all back to normal

TrickyKid · 13/08/2020 23:11

Yanbu

You are aware this is Aibu

I assume the OP is asking if they are being unreasonable for thinking this

That's the point. Don't like it? Scroll on past

FunnysInLaJardin · 13/08/2020 23:12

BluebellForest836 · 13/08/2020 23:12

No. I’m in the U.K.

Hickorydickoryspock · 13/08/2020 23:13

Has anyone complained?
We just travelled abroad to see my in laws in the knowledge we may end up having to quarentine.. we had plans in place were that to happen. You weigh up the options tho... i think there will be a second winter wave and so we either saw the inlaws with our kids now or potentially not for two years (the last time we saw them before this was last summer) which is a long time put of their grandchildrens lives.
I think most people on the flight we were on appeared to be visiting family from the airport scenes....

PlanDeRaccordement · 13/08/2020 23:13

It defies all sense. A country with one of the worst death rates, and the disease well and truly dispersed throughout thinks it is at risk of that same disease coming in across its borders from its few healthy people going on holiday! It’s the rest of the world that should be stopping British people from entering.

EeeByeGummieBear · 13/08/2020 23:15

I think that unless we know why someone has gone abroad on holiday we shouldn't really judge. I have chosen not to go abroad, I know people who have, all for different reasons.

Stannisbaratheonsboxofmatches · 13/08/2020 23:15

I don’t think people “deserve what they get”. I know lots of people who have been to France in the last few weeks, come home and not had to quarantine. They aren’t morally superior to those who are going now!

That said, I’m glad I cancelled my holiday in the Netherlands planned for the last week of the school holidays! With dd starting yr 7 I’d have been in trouble if we’d had to quarantine!

Loads of people are complaining. It's all over social media people tweeting the government and airlines themselves
Hickorydickoryspock · 13/08/2020 23:17

@dwiz8 ah right... well that is odd as surely they knew it was a possibility... we factored that in and how we would take the hit if needed.. luckily we made it back before this announcement.

VinylDetective · 13/08/2020 23:19

Oh not this again. MN wouldn’t survive if people weren’t so bloody sanctimonious.

IAintentDead · 13/08/2020 23:23

Ner ner ner I'm right - you're wrong
told you so

I hope you feel good OP

I'm going abroad next month - and you know what, I don't give a toss what any jealous little person back home thinks.

Anyone that gives a toss what you think is ...
