i know it's a 1st world thing but i totally hate it,it's so hard to keep cool, sleep, have any energy it's making me feel murderous. Angry
then i read about the floods in wales and know i'm vu, it's so extreme on both accounts, the heat will settle but those peeps will have their lives turned upside down for possibly months.
shut up romeo and get on with it, rant over Smile

You're not BU and you're not alone, most people struggle to cope with it.

I love it, personally but i think I'm in a minority.

chargeorge · 11/08/2020 10:04

Not unreasonable at all, it's your view. For me, I don't mind it and it gives me a chance to strip off and get in the paddling pool with the kids (even though they wouldn't admit to it to their friends because they are older than most kids in a paddling pool haha)

PhoneLock · 11/08/2020 10:04

I love it, personally but i think I'm in a minority.

That's because the people that hate it are making the most noise about it.

I love it, my husband loves it and, in real life, I haven't heard anybody moaning about it.

SnuggyBuggy · 11/08/2020 10:04

As a mum of a 2 year old we are very dependent on the weather for our social lives and activities and I can't wait for it to be cool enough to walk to the park.

attillathenun · 11/08/2020 10:07

YANBU, I don’t mind it but it’s making things miserable for my teething 8 month old 😩 impossible to keep the house cool too, british houses aren’t designed for weather like this!

Midsommar · 11/08/2020 10:10

The hot weather is beautiful- if you can sit outside in in. Unfortunately I'm WFH and stuck inside with my laptop all day. Plus I have the whitest skin ever (think Casper with freckles) so the sun isn't my friend!

PimlicoJo · 11/08/2020 10:10

It's only been a few days! We're hardly living in a country where we experience extreme temperatures for weeks on end.

I'm in London and it's an absolutely beautiful morning. Glorious sunshine. The nights are already drawing in and before we know it it will be autumn. I'm enjoying every moment of it.

TheSoapyFrog · 11/08/2020 10:10

I hate it too. It makes me very irritable and irrationally angry. I even cried a little yesterday because I was so hot and flustered!
It's too hot for the kids to be out in the garden for much of the day as well.
I don't ever complain about being cold in the winter. I prefer it and don't even wear a coat throughout much of it.

Snorlax86 · 11/08/2020 10:10

I honestly haven’t met a single person in real life that is loving 32-36 degrees for days in a row. London in the heat is horrible, 21-24 degrees is tolerable, not everywhere is as hot as London currently is though. I personally cannot wait for the weather to cool down!

WhosThatGirl89 · 11/08/2020 10:10

I'm with you romeo I hate it too. Literally sweating all the time, seriously assy with everything. Everything pisses me off. Can't sleep, dd can't sleep. Hate being outside but go out to keep dd occupied. I just like a nice middle ground where it's warm and a bit breezy.

And to top it off dd woke up with a massive nose bleed this morning covering the bed in blood. Not sure if it was heat related but it's not how I would've chosen to be woken up this morning

EatDessertFirst · 11/08/2020 10:15

I'm with you OP. This sticky heat makes me feel dirty, miserable and oh so stabby.

I love Autumn and I love Winter even more. In the cold, I can make myself and our home warmer and we can actually get out and about. In this disgusting heat, we are basically trapped in a sweltering house because its just too hot to be outside for any length of time. It rained here this morning and the DC and I sat in the garden to enjoy it.

Bring on Winter!!

Backtoreality1 · 11/08/2020 10:16

I just feel so sorry for my dog right now. he is a greyhound so they have no insulation and are not great at regulating temperature. Having to get up very early so that he gets a walk in relative coolness but he spends the rest of the day laying flat out and panting.

However, i am sure it will break soon and then we will all be moaning about the rain lol!

HowFastIsTooFast · 11/08/2020 10:16

I appreciate I'm a minority, and lucky to live by the sea where the heat is often tempered by a breeze, but I absolutely LOVE it. I can't get enough of it and try to make the most of each of these few hot days a year we're blessed with.

I do know that a lot of people struggle though, especially in cities and you have my sympathy, but please remember me hating every day of the looooong cold winter when you're happy with your scarf and gloves and blankets! Wink

TwentyViginti · 11/08/2020 10:24

I hate it too. It's not nice heat. It's humid, sticky and unpleasant.

SerenDippitty · 11/08/2020 10:25

YANBU and wearing a mask in this heat is bloody diabolical.

Leafyhouse · 11/08/2020 10:27

The guy putting our air conditioning in at home said that his commercial work is now a smaller part of his business, and he's doing mainly domestic this year. I guess that's where the growth is.

I think it's going to be the future - certainly it's sweltering over here in SW London, sleeping without air con is exhausting. Just came back from Dorset sunshine (which was uncomfortable enough at 28 degrees), temperatures are 5 degrees hotter at home!

Curlyhairedbrummie · 11/08/2020 10:29

I hate it too! It's been between 32-36 where we are the last few days and it sucks! No one is sleeping well, everyone is grumpy, can't be arsed to cook much in the kitchen, can't stand to be outside after 11 am! Early to mid 20s would be just right I think :)

MsWoodentop · 11/08/2020 10:34

I'm not a fan either. That said, we're doing what the locals do here (France) and it did help. So windows and curtains (and shutters) closed during the day in sunny rooms and all bedrooms. Once temperature drops, all windows are opened to let in the cooler night air.

If it's unbearable at night, I wet one of those gauzy cheap cotton scarves, wring it out and cover myself with it instead of a sheet . Same for the dog if he overheats Grin

Baaaahhhhh · 11/08/2020 10:35

Unfortunately I'm WFH and stuck inside with my laptop all day

DH and DD sweltering by lunchtime. He and his colleagues are cancelling meetings post 3pm because of the heat.

niki26 · 11/08/2020 10:35

It's not really public knowledge that I'm pregnant - for no reason other than I haven't said anything on Facebook really and lockdown means I haven't seen many people - but the heat means I'm really feeling sorry for myself at the moment! I'm 35 weeks and my hospital bag is very nearly packed but I just can't finish the rest off at the moment! It sounds like a quick and easy job but I literally have no energy! The last two nights I've ended up outside on the rattan sofa from 4am!

romeolovedjulliet · 11/08/2020 10:39

@TwentyViginti

I hate it too. It's not nice heat. It's humid, sticky and unpleasant.
this, if it had a bit of breeze it would be okay, but some people don't mind feeling sweaty and sticky really ? [sceptical] plenty of peeps in my local area are complaining about it,

ArtemisBean · 11/08/2020 10:41

I loathe it too. Anything over 25 and I'm grumpy as hell. We're such an active family and it's too hot to do anything but sit around. Roll on autumn!

annabel85 · 11/08/2020 10:41

Living north it's just been normal temperatures recently, not really hot or muggy.

TinselTortoise · 11/08/2020 10:42

I'm finding this heat awful too. I have a chronic pain condition which affects my joints, and I think the heat is making the joints swell as I'm in more pain than usual. At least its the school holidays so no school runs etc.

Pukkatea · 11/08/2020 10:45

I haven't slept in 2 days and I have raw skin on my legs from peeling myself off chairs I've stuck to. Utterly fed up.
