i know it's a 1st world thing but i totally hate it,it's so hard to keep cool, sleep, have any energy it's making me feel murderous. Angry
then i read about the floods in wales and know i'm vu, it's so extreme on both accounts, the heat will settle but those peeps will have their lives turned upside down for possibly months.
shut up romeo and get on with it, rant over Smile

My house has the best insulation in the loft and so during winter it’s warm without needing the heating on.

In the summer it’s the worst. I’ve actually slept downstairs in the living room with the patio doors open because it was 7 degrees cooler. My room gets humid and disgusting and I can’t open the window properly because the top of the bloody blinds are in the way. I hate it

Kaiserin · 11/08/2020 11:05

Everyone I know is like you OP: hates it, but feels like they're in a minority, so apologise for it.
The truth is, that kind of weather (30+ in the day, 20+ in the night) actually kills if it goes on for long enough.

But people in the UK fetishise sunshine (mad dog ang English men...), so it feels taboo to say there can be too much of a good thing.

yelyah22 · 11/08/2020 11:06

I hate it. Would take -5 over this any day! I'm sleep deprived, sweaty, irritable and have to spend all day working inside my dark house with the curtains closed to keep it to a reasonable temperature. Not that I'd want to be outside anyway because I burn in about 15 minutes and I sneeze in bright sunlight.

sorryforswearing · 11/08/2020 11:31

I hate it and have always hated it. I can remember hating it as a child. I like it just warm enough to go without a cardigan.

romeolovedjulliet · 11/08/2020 11:39

sorry to hear that tinsel Sad, try to take it easy as much as you can and hope you feel better soon Flowers

We go for months in this country in unrelenting rain and gloom.

I'm enjoying having warm weather and a summer which will be behind us all too soon. There will then be moaning about any restrictions preventing families from meeting inside houses.

Tink2007 · 11/08/2020 11:44

Londoner and hating every moment of it. We’re all suffering, we can’t get the house cool, our dog is miserable and can’t keep cool, our two DDs are fed up with it now and being 12 days away from giving birth it is making me more murderous than normal.

CatToddlerUprising · 11/08/2020 11:48

Far too hot here (London). Flat is 33 degrees inside, no way of cooling it down, no garden, no balcony.

zingally · 11/08/2020 11:55

If I was on a sun lounger by the pool in a lovely resort... It would be glorious.
But I'm not.

I went for a walk in the countryside on Saturday afternoon, and all I got was a load of angry and itchy midge bites on the backs of my knees and around my knicker-line! GRRR.

PopsicleHustler · 11/08/2020 12:07

I cant bear it any longer. We live in a third floor apartment and it's so hot as heat rises. The fans are just pushing warm air and it's making me feel ill. Am also in my second trimester and the heat is making me feel bloody exhausted, sick and weak. I love autumn and spring. I cant even get any housework done.

PopsicleHustler · 11/08/2020 12:08

Hi @zingally what are midge bites. Hope you're well

Poppyismyfavourite · 11/08/2020 12:11

I love it sorry!
Our house has tiled floors downstairs so it's pretty cool. Cats and chickens spending their days sunbathing!
I just feel miserable and cold and depressed all winter, then summer is all warm and pretty and happy - I wish summer would never end!

Menora · 11/08/2020 12:15

I feel sorry for my dog and cat they are struggling. I also don’t like it

Snaketime · 11/08/2020 12:24

I hate it, I can't cope with the heat and get hayfever from March until September. I hate being hot and unable to get cool, it sets my anxiety off big style.

Hidingtonothing · 11/08/2020 12:25

I've become much more of a summer person in the last couple of years and actually enjoy being outside in the nice weather now as long as I can find some shade. Sadly our garden is a total suntrap so unbearable for me for more than a few minutes and our house is an over-insulated sweat box so I'm hot and grumpy. The back of our house gets the sun from 12pm til sundown so we're building a sun canopy atm to try and shade the windows and keep it a bit cooler indoors, also I can sit under it even when it's baking. I can't wait til it's finished, although no doubt the weather will change as soon as it is! Too hot in the house today though and I have too much to do here to go out, housework is deeply unpleasant in this heat Sad

SuzieCarmichael · 11/08/2020 12:32

I also hate it. I can cope with a couple of days of it, or if there’s a cool breeze overnight and temperatures drop below 20. But it’s been a week of this now - and too hot at night - and I am so bloody sick of it that yesterday I was on Rightmove searching for houses up north .... 😂

starfro · 11/08/2020 12:39

Hate it. Horrendous here in the South, 35 degrees every day.

Can't wait for it to be 15 degrees and rainy.

PumpkinPie2016 · 11/08/2020 12:43

I don't like hot weather either. Thankfully, I am in the North so it's not as hot.

Even then,I went running this morning and it was so muggy Sad

FilthyforFirth · 11/08/2020 12:44

I LOATHE it. I am 6 months pregnant, look and feel about ready to drop and suffering from HG. I cannot sleep, get comfortable or really even rest properly. If we had air conditioning it wouldnt be quite so bad.

But yeah, I'm over it. I dont think my 3 year old is loving it that much either. He hates having the fan on and just seems so low on energy bless him.

I am desperate for cooler weather.

AriettyHomily · 11/08/2020 12:49

I grew up in the ME. 40 was not unusual. I love the heat.

1 - you do acclimatise
2 - a/c
3 - down time is in the pool or on the beach
4 - dry heat, none of this ridiculous humidity

My house is stuppid hot today, bedroom is reading as 36.

DelphiniumBlue · 11/08/2020 12:51

It is horrible here in London. I feel like the whole week has been written off as it is just too hot to do anything. Can't cook or go anywhere, or do any of the house stuff that needs doing. Just hot sweaty and itchy all the time.
I am so sorry for any of you who are pregnant in this heat, you must really be suffering!

rosiejaune · 11/08/2020 12:55

YANBU, but what are you doing about it, in regard to climate change? Our weather will get even more extreme over the coming decades.

Quaagars · 11/08/2020 13:22

I Don't usually mind the heat - during lockdown was sat outside lots, in lovely hot weather - difference to this time round right now that is it's unbearably sticky, hot, and just energy sapping!
Just no air, impossible to sleep too.
Urghhhhhhhhhh Sad

Neron · 11/08/2020 13:24

I do like the sun, but I've had enough of it now.
I'm a therapist, back to work now wearing a mask, a visor and an apron, it's suffocating.
It's been hot since April, and getting hotter now. I cannot wait for the cooler weather

U2HasTheEdge · 11/08/2020 13:34

I love it. I never want it to end.

I think we only have two more days of it left then it is back to cloudy and cooler weather.

I was off work last week so got to enjoy it. This week I am mostly WFH and feeling a bit gutted that I can't be out in it all day, but I am doing what I can in the garden.
