To report this dance studio?

Icelollolly · 09/08/2020 14:58

Would I be being unreasonable to report a dance studio to Walt Disney Studios UK as in the past and currently they have /are using various Walt Disney Studios flims as themes for school holiday dance camps and performances and are using songs from the films in performances. They have posted on social media advertising using Disney flims as themes for the dance camps and posting videos of performances to music from Disney films.

You can buy in the script and rights for one off performances, when I worked at a very well knows stage school the franchisees did this all the time for holiday camps, it costs them a fortune but parents and kids love it.
Do you 100% know the school hasn’t bought in rights?

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 09/08/2020 15:14

All the dance shows I was in (dance school, college, local am dram group) always had the relevant licenses to perform anything. Including Disney.

LikeDuhWhatever · 09/08/2020 15:18

You would have made an excellent snitch for the Stasi in East Germany. Lowlife.

MitziK · 09/08/2020 15:20

Disney Corp are perfectly capable of coming down like a ton of bricks upon people using their imagery without having paid the hefty licensing.

You can buy a license for playing the music, performing versions of films and songs easily enough. That gives you permission to use the imagery for advertising and Disney/the licensing company take a chunk of ticket sales on top of the licensing fees.

So you're just as likely trying to get them into trouble when they have done nothing wrong.

What is your actual anger towards them about?

amusedbush · 09/08/2020 15:21

What did the police say?

LivePositively · 09/08/2020 15:22

Do you have any idea how much these groups have suffered since March, reporting them could mean a huge fine and therefore the end for them - why would you do that?! These groups offer an invaluable service for children of all ages helping with things like confidence building, dealing with issues at home, making friends etc. To report them would make you a horrible person.

Icelollolly · 09/08/2020 15:23

I'm not going to report them, my friend was saying they should get reported but I'm not going to.

OP posts:
Cheeseandlobster · 09/08/2020 15:25

Your friend is a twat. Does she really have nothing better to occupy her mind with?

blacktop · 09/08/2020 15:25

@Icelollolly

I'm not going to report them, my friend was saying they should get reported but I'm not going to.

Why did you ask if YWBU to repost them then? Bit of a U turn.

WorraLiberty · 09/08/2020 15:25

I'm not going to report them, my friend was saying they should get reported but I'm not going to.
Oh aye
Icelollolly · 09/08/2020 15:26

@blacktop

Because I couldn't exactly ask if my friend was being unreasonable.

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 09/08/2020 15:27

Why on earth would you do something like this?

Mind your own bloody business

It’s hurting no one and is letting kids enjoy themselves

Butt the fuck out

WorraLiberty · 09/08/2020 15:27

Because I couldn't exactly ask if my friend was being unreasonable.

Now this thread has just got weirder

Why couldn't you ask that?

Diverseduvet · 09/08/2020 15:27

My children's holiday club have been selling ' not to be sold separately' crisps, drinks etc at vastly reduced prices. I was also wondering if I should report them?

My2catsarefab · 09/08/2020 15:27

How empty your friend's life must be

blacktop · 09/08/2020 15:28

You are allowed. There are no rules that you can't ask if someone else is BU Confused

Icelollolly · 09/08/2020 15:28

@Cheeseandlobster

And her child goes to the dance studio! Shes my best friend so can't exactly start mouthing off at her telling her how horrible it would be if she did.

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/08/2020 15:32

Righto or you could just stop gossiping with your bestie.

iklboo · 09/08/2020 15:32

What has the club done to piss on your friend's chips - not given her darling a lead part?

whereistherum · 09/08/2020 15:33

I have the popcorn, anyone got the wine? Wine

WorraLiberty · 09/08/2020 15:33

Anyone else waiting for the message from MNHQ?

Diverseduvet · 09/08/2020 15:33
