I've ordered another 8 and have my eye on another 5 pack....when in reality how many reusable ones do I need...am I getting obsessed?

I can't even leave the house without one in my bag due to current rules so I guess it's not a bad thing!

I bought my recent pack from the £shop it's pep &co they were £3 .99 and they are better than the ones I bought elsewhere .

tiredanddangerous · 30/07/2020 21:45

One reusable one. I'm not really going into shops for now but I might need to invest in a couple more if this is going be a long term thing.

TrainspottingWelsh · 30/07/2020 21:47

About 600. Sounds like a lot, but I would never wear the same one in more than one place, always at least 4 simultaneously, boil wash them and soak in bleach for 72hrs. If we actually leave the house we burn them after use. I'm not at all ott, paranoid, or in need of a hobby. But anything else is just irresponsible.

steff13 · 30/07/2020 21:48

15 adult size ones, 10 kid size ones. Reusable.

Boulshired · 30/07/2020 21:49

I have two and a box of 50 filters for them and a pack of 10 disposable In the car that were provided from DS2 respite in a box with sanitiser, hand wash, wipes and gloves. Not sure if I am ever going to need and they do not want it back.

Thanks for all your replies...I feel ok now although I feel I may slowly floating into @RufustheSniggeringReindeer where I think there may be something wrong with meGrin

@flirtygirl I hear you regarding the sci fi shield look but I also think it looks like the men who collect and deliver money in shops and banks with those cases....

I am also looking at it as an accessory.

I have one and another 2 on the way.

The one I have has got candy skulls on. The two I have coming have strawberries on one and lemons and limes on the other.

A friend said to me masks are the new bags and scarfs.

99victoria · 30/07/2020 21:52

One. So far I've worn it for 3 minutes in Holland and Barrett (no-one else in there) and 5 minutes in the pharmacy when I went to collect my prescription.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/07/2020 21:52

Oh my god. I just checked out that liberty masks and that's it. I am flying mum in here with all her old duvets and stuff. We will be bloody millionaires 😂😂

bengalcat · 30/07/2020 21:52

I’ve got a box of disposables, 2 single layer cotton ones, which are comfy to wear but I don’t feel very “protected” in them, 2 from the big bloomer co, which look like a sock, but are really comfy, with space for a filter, and an N95 type one which feels like I’m trying to breathe through a plastic bag!

Fatherbrownsbicycle · 30/07/2020 21:55

@Consideredopinion

I find it depressing that so many people on this thread are using disposable masks.

Can I ask where youre all buying decent fabric ones from please?

A lot of people I see aren’t actually wearing decent ones.

WHO advises 3 layer masks. I had a woman today rave about how easy the (tight, stretched one layer I could see her lips through) mask she had on was to breathe in “much better than those medical ones the hospital make you wear”. Great.

powkin · 30/07/2020 21:56

I’ve got 2 Paisie reusable and 4 more on order. I did have 4 but gave one to DH because he would never have sorted it out and I gave one to my DSis on a whim which I now regret. I got them back in the days of “this may all blow over in a bit, but just in case”. I want to have enough so I’ve always got two available and a few in the wash now we are past little baby stage and I don’t do laundry every hour.

I want to make my own out of my HUGE postpartum M&S pants (of dreams) but I don’t have a sewing machine. My DH can’t even look at them without shuddering and wants them nowhere near his face. I am so thrilled I could never bear to part with them (after his repeated pleas that I burn them) and feel thoroughly vindicated. Large enough to make 20 or so, or turn into a flag for a new nation state.

MayFayre · 30/07/2020 21:59

Box of 50 disposable ones. None used yet.
6 fabric ones.

Boulshired · 30/07/2020 21:59

I got mine when Isabel Mann’s was selling her off cuts of silk with money going to the NHS. I think she does cotton ones now.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 30/07/2020 22:00

Jojobar · 30/07/2020 22:00

None.

I have a snood that I will wear when I need to but I don't use public transport and WFH so it's only when I go to the supermarket (and I am doing home delivery or C&C as far as possible)

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 30/07/2020 22:01

Bargebill19 · 30/07/2020 22:01

@powkin

You can sew by hand. I

MulticolourMophead · 30/07/2020 22:01

My daughter made our masks. 3 layers as recommended, and sizing altered to fit us individually (she's a fashion student).

AllNewThings · 30/07/2020 22:02

The Liberty ones are pricey, but they feel so nice and fit brilliantly. I have sensory issues and had been getting a bit worked up trying to make my peace with the fact that they're not going anywhere and I need to just get on with it. The beautiful designs and comfortable fabric make me feel much better about it all. I won't buy any more and will be washing and reusing these for probably a long time to come, so I don't think the £40 is actually too bad.

mosquitofeast · 30/07/2020 22:03

as many as I have pairs of knickers

Bebbanburger · 30/07/2020 22:04

I've got one Kurt Geiger and one copper clothing mask.i wear one and wash one
The system will likely fail though and I'm thinking about getting an extra 3 pack, probably the John lewis designer set as they are rated highly. I got my teenagers a 3 packs of Adidas masks. They went down well with them.
