I've ordered another 8 and have my eye on another 5 pack....when in reality how many reusable ones do I need...am I getting obsessed?

I can't even leave the house without one in my bag due to current rules so I guess it's not a bad thing!

Quite a few of different styles between 4 adults. I made a variety of different ones at the beginning of covid I am just finishing off some more. Some of us prefer elastic round ears and the others prefer it round back of the head. I made plain ones from a pillowcase, some for adult son and dh from old shirt sleeves, and some pretty ones for adult daughter and myself.
We have a good supply and wear once and hot wash. We did buy dust types but none of us liked them and much prefer cotton ones.

Carlislemumof4 · 01/08/2020 12:26

I'll be wearing a couple of fresh cotton ones every day, I don't then wash them immediately. I put them in a net washable bag to go through the machine with other laundry on an ordinary 40 degree cycle every few days then simply hang masks to air dry before wearing again. So need a selection for the six of us. I have the machine on every day for clothes, towels, bedding etc as it is and don't have time for additional machine cycles or to hand wash masks.

Have got washable cotton bags to put our masks in when out and about so can regularly sling them in the washing machine too.

I only have to wear in the office at the moment and to be honest I'm taking the same one off and putting it back on again. There are 5 of us in the office at the moment, we are all 2m or more apart and I only have to wear it when I leave my desk. It's probably on for less than half an hour a day in total.

In the house we have currently, a 12 pack of disposable children's masks, 40 adult disposable, 8 reusable adult masks.

We are 3 adults (well one 17 year old), and one child. In reality dd2 (asd) can't wear one (she has really tried), dd1 (asd) wears only cloth, DH prefers to use cloth and me (asthmatic), I find the cloth uncomfortable but the disposable comfortable to wear.

I have one fabric one but I wash disposable ones from work as well. They don't supply many as we only wear them on and off so are expected to keep using the same one. They wash fine, I don't know how many times, but you don't have to throw them out after one use.

Purplepie78 · 01/08/2020 15:16

One, shoved in the bottom of my handbag !

JovialNickname · 01/08/2020 15:57

One disposable one that I've had since government enforced mask wearing was forced on me! It lives amongst the used tissues and crisp crumbs at the bottom of my bag, hastily retrieved and applied where necessary.

We have two reusable FFP2 masks, which we use most of the time. We also have 9 bog standard washable ones, which I just keep in case I can't find my normal one. DS has accidentally bought 5 washable ones from ALDI as well (as in, he threw them into the trolley without me noticing).
However, I prefer to wear my visor, especially at work and when it's hot. It was 35 degrees today. We're abroad and masks have been compulsory for quite a while.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 01/08/2020 18:48

Ive just bought another one 😩

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 01/08/2020 18:49

@Toucancan

Too many! My issue is that I make them to sell (supplementing my currently very slow millinery business) but decide I like the fabric too much and keep on keeping them 😂.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 01/08/2020 18:51

Ive got a little excited

Paul72 · 01/08/2020 18:55

I've got 5 and wear one for a few days then wash it. I take it off when not inside a shop or bus as I don't think we need to wear them outside in the street.

Toucancan · 01/08/2020 19:35

@RufustheSniggeringReindeer Ahh you star! If you are who I think you are you're my most loyal customer! Glad you love them 😊

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 01/08/2020 19:37

Oh yay!!!

Plus my boss bought one of your very flowery ones when she saw mine 😀

Saracen · 02/08/2020 06:30

I don't go out much and only have one so far, but I mentioned to the family recently that we need to have a good collection so we never have a crisis with somebody's mask lost or damaged, and we can experiment to see which sort each of us likes best.

Lots of people will enjoy having different ones for fashion. Why not?

garlictwist · 02/08/2020 07:02

I have 1 disposable one. Just been using that and don't intend to replace it as I only wear it in shops so for ten mins tops at a time.

exLtEveDallas · 02/08/2020 07:19

3 people in the house. We have 6 fabric ones I made from old T-shirt’s and a packet of 25 disposable. All 3 of us seem to wear the disposable more than the fabric, and we reuse them Blush.

PoloNeckKnickers · 02/08/2020 09:02

I have way too many- about 20 cloth masks, bought from etsy and from Mabel & Mu. I have an assortment of patterned masks and some plain ones. I have also just ordered 5 of the Liberty masks even though I don't actually need them. I just can't help myself. Blush I only wear them once then they go into the wash.

sansou · 02/08/2020 14:34

Family of 4 - I've made our own and a few for family & friends. I reckon that I have made 40+ since I've made at least 2 per person.

DC will be wearing masks to school so I will make enough for them to have at least 2 daily (so they can change at lunchtime) so at least 10 each.

goose1964 · 02/08/2020 16:50

I have 4, one's in the wash and god knows where the other 3are.

nevergoingoutagain · 02/08/2020 16:58

We have 3 washable ones each do we can wash whenever we use them.
