I've ordered another 8 and have my eye on another 5 pack....when in reality how many reusable ones do I need...am I getting obsessed?

I can't even leave the house without one in my bag due to current rules so I guess it's not a bad thing!

I have 3 that my DM kindly made, but none of them actually fit that well, so I just keep one of those in my handbag just in case. I usually use the same washable one that I bought from Aliexpress, which is nice and thin and easy to breathe through. I don't wash after every use, just when I've worn it for long enough to feel that it needs it.

Notfeelinggreattoday · 30/07/2020 23:03

3 /4 washables each and just couple disposables as dont like idea of using to many disposables seeing as i spend so much time sorting out my recyling etc seems wasteful to keep using disposables but have some for emergency

Notfeelinggreattoday · 30/07/2020 23:06

Dh does have disposable ones provided by work though that he has to use but they supply and has to use those ones so no choice , why i try even harder for us to use washable and have just brought some little bags that can go in the wash to sit neat to wash basket for everyone to put in then can chuck in wash , although im still not sure what temp or how long i should do them for ??

elfycat · 30/07/2020 23:07

@OddestSock

PM'd you about the fabric

sugarlost · 30/07/2020 23:09

@RufustheSniggeringReindeer I think I'll come and join you.....so much temptation
In these posts!

I've just looked at the Liberty suggestion...not as nice as the one Camilla wore which I think was Liberty but apparently £70 a pop...I'll have a nice sales assistant deliver that personally for that price...thank you very muchGrin.

Not keen on disposables.... there's something sad about seeing random discarded masks on the floor.

It's good for those who can make them...an endless supply... I'd probably sit surrounded by a pile trying to pick one to wear and spoilt for choice! It's the little things in life....

Hmm.
There's about 30 disposable ones in the house.
And 3 decent reusable ones
3 coming tomorrow.
3 more that'll act as a face covering but not amazing so I'll throw them on in lower risk settings.

I'll order another 3 i think then I'm well and truly stocked up. I'm preparing for when DD and DH return to their usual activities so they're well prepared.

We also have 4 face visors, gloves, 5l of hand sanitiser, 12 packs of hand wipes, 8 packs of surface wipes and 2 big bottles of sanitising spray. ..and no ive not gone and panic bought it all. Its a collection I've amassed over the past several months

loutypips · 30/07/2020 23:10

I've made about 5, will be making some more though. I have 10 reusable ones and have just ordered 50 cotton masks from amazon.
So will have plenty to wear then wash.

Deardonkey · 30/07/2020 23:12

We have about 20 between 5 of us, DD1 made them for us out of our extensive fabric stash so hasn’t cost anything thankfully. Some are really beautiful but I should ask to make some plain ones as DS is allowed to wear them to school.

isthisyearoverit · 30/07/2020 23:13

Too many

OH was doing some part time work for Uber eats throughout lockdown and they kept sending him masks and hand sanitisers

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/07/2020 23:17

Those with Liberty and Boden ones...

Have they washed ok?

PenfoldPenny · 30/07/2020 23:19

I have 2 at present. :)

AllNewThings · 30/07/2020 23:19

Having waxed lyrical about the Liberty ones, if I could do a decent job of making my own, I would. I'd love to choose cool fabrics. When I was taking DS to the barber, a little boy was wearing one his Mum had clearly made from a stretchy old bra. It did make me smile. Smile

AllNewThings · 30/07/2020 23:20

Can confirm the Liberty ones wash well.

CheeseAndBeans · 30/07/2020 23:31

I have 7 reusable ones. Got a pack of 5 plain white and was given 2 navy for work.
OH uses disposable ones, we have a box and a half of those left I think.
DDs have 2 each. Rainbows, unicorns, fairies and hearts!

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/07/2020 23:34

Has anyone tried the Marks and Spencer's ones? They look quite nice, but are currently out of stock.

I hate using the disposable ones for the waste.. but so far they've been the most breathable and comfortable. Work in retail so need to be able to wear a mask for at least 7 hours (change mask after lunch break, so at least 2 a day).

RiftGibbon · 30/07/2020 23:37

Five reusable ones. One is kept in the car. The others are used in rotation.

Angrymum22 · 30/07/2020 23:53

I wear respirator at work and have 200 disposables for shopping. To be honest I just stick one in my bag and reuse it. They are not protective, and since most people seem to think they no longer have to socially distance or hand sanitise/wash their hands while wearing a face covering I tend to cough loudly if people get too close.

tapdancingmum · 31/07/2020 00:05

I've got 4 but have given 2 to my girls. I ordered them from Etsy, measured my face and went for the one it said and they don't fit. Ordered 2 more in a larger size and they cover my mouth, chin and up to my eyes but as soon as I speak it rides down. Makes for quiet shopping trips 😀

DD2 took a disposable one today and said she could actually breathe through it better than the made ones. She's asthmatic but wanted to wear one in the train. I'm wondering if I need reusable ones in the style of the disposable ones and not a smooth style.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 31/07/2020 00:10

depressing how many people are buying disposable ones

Depressing that 80% of people on the bus I was on this afternoon had carefully positioned their disposable masks to protect their neck.
I sat there hoping they'd all get covid.

isntthatnice · 31/07/2020 00:32

Zero

Glitteryone · 31/07/2020 00:34

None

Brigante9 · 31/07/2020 00:39

Can someone recommend one that is like moulded, doesn’t sit on the nose, one with space/a wire that keeps it off your nose/mouth, fixed type? I don’t want to spend loads. I’m finding my current fabric one very suffocating. TIA

SmileTolerantly · 31/07/2020 00:43

I’ve got the M&S ones, I rather like them and they don’t set off the DCs’ sensory issues like the disposable ones, but DH has a massive nose and they literally don’t fit over his face.

Also got the Designers charity three-pack from Argos (also at John Lewis) which seem pretty good quality at three for fifteen quid with profits to good causes.

Worrysaboutalot · 31/07/2020 00:46

I have five including these two (assuming I managed to add a picture to this post)

I got them from an online friend, I like to support small businesses and frankly I love her fabric. Find her here
