I've ordered another 8 and have my eye on another 5 pack....when in reality how many reusable ones do I need...am I getting obsessed?

I can't even leave the house without one in my bag due to current rules so I guess it's not a bad thing!

Just had a look at the liberty ones, what a ridiculous price for what is basically a folded rectangle of fabric with elastoc loops on the side.

They look identical to the ones i had made by a family member with a sewing machine, that i paid £2 for...

elfycat · 30/07/2020 21:29

I have 3, as do my immediate family. I'm adept with sewing machine so have followed some of the better patterns and made loads for friends and family (It's not something I overly enjoy so haven't gone into production for selling). Turns out the huge collection of fabric and general haberdashery wasn't hoarding; it was prepping.

My favourite is fitted style and had aardvarks on it. The next one I make for me will be cartoon cats. I have some Halloween fabrics that might get used in October.

I have a 5 pack of disposables in my handbag - in case I forget to take a mask with me. Another 5 live in the car for the same reason.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 30/07/2020 21:29

6 washable

A stupid amount of disposable

I’m slightly addicted to buying washable ones, from a woman on folksy...she gets a new pattern i like and i buy

I think there might be something wrong with me

Procrastination4 · 30/07/2020 21:29

And those masks are just for me...

WanderingMilly · 30/07/2020 21:29

I have two washable masks which I do use but I prefer the disposable sort. I'm out and about a lot and use a new mask each time I'm out, I have a couple of boxes of 50 in each box.

I also have hundreds of disposable gloves as I use a clean pair for each shop, plus plenty of washable ones (cloth) for just out and about.

PinkiOcelot · 30/07/2020 21:29

God, whoever thought we’d be discussing our face masks?!

I’ve got a box of disposable ones.

SociallyDistantPenguin · 30/07/2020 21:31

5 homemade cotton masks at the moment, but I'll probably make a couple more just to make laundry life easier.

Mrsjayy · 30/07/2020 21:31

I have 3, fabric we have disposable ones that DH uses box of 50 and DD had 6 5 for work and a spares hers are fancy motiff ones. My friend has about 15 she is a bit obsessed

Procrastination4 · 30/07/2020 21:32

All my masks are plain, navy mostly -I dislike the look of the patterned ones and I really hate the masks with lips or mouths or moustaches on.

Mrsjayy · 30/07/2020 21:34

DH gets replacement boxes but it is limited because some guys were taking the piss and lifted half a dozen boxes at a time .

Bluepolkadots42 · 30/07/2020 21:34

Only 2 reusable ones atm, but I am planning on buying at least 2 more, if not 4, so I can always have a clean one in the car and clean one in handbag.

Gaylordfockr · 30/07/2020 21:35

A few all in strategic places, car, by keys, handbag etc

Starbuggy · 30/07/2020 21:35

Started with two, just got a third. I only go to shops once or twice a month though and haven’t been on public transport since mid-March.

Hairthrowaway · 30/07/2020 21:35

I have loads, probably over 50

I bought some black ones online which I prefer, but prior to that I bought boxes of 30 masks from Boots and M&S.

They’re all single use though.

Hairthrowaway · 30/07/2020 21:36

God, whoever thought we’d be discussing our face masks?!

Haha this is such a #2020 thread

Floralnomad · 30/07/2020 21:37

2 reusable and a box of 50 disposables with 49 left in it . I don’t go shopping so hardly use them .

bigbluebus · 30/07/2020 21:37

3 washable and a pack of 10 disposible to keep in the car. DH has one washable and a pack of disposible (which I bought for him). He generally only needs one for the petrol station though - I do all the shopping.

Jasmin82 · 30/07/2020 21:39

I have 5 reusable ones. I only shop once a week for food and that's it (my anxiety won't cope with more than that right now). So, I probably only needed a couple. I also have 3 or 4 scarves that could double as a face covering if I needed.

ChaoticCatling · 30/07/2020 21:39

I have one, just use it for the supermarket.

MulticolourMophead · 30/07/2020 21:40

2 masks. Reusables.

I have one to wear, and one in the wash. I handwash, though, so I come in and wash one, then put the 2nd straight in my bag.

Proudboomer · 30/07/2020 21:40

One cloth. It stays in dash pocket in the car.
So far I have worn it twice for 5 minutes each when picking up two prescriptions, once for 5 minutes whilst picking up a takeaway, twice for shopping in the supermarket each visit less than a hour and once for a trip to get my eyes tested at Specsavers.
It is only a cheapie and not the best fit as it pulls on my ears so when i see a different style one that is reasonably priced I will buy one

Dinocan · 30/07/2020 21:40

ScottishStottie I know the liberty ones from their website are very overpriced! Unsurprisingly I’ve done an absolutely roaring trade in selling my own made liberty ones (from my existing massive fabric stash) on eBay at a fraction of that. I thought I’d be lucky to sell a couple.Unless most of the money is going to charity it feels slightly unethical to be charging such large sums for (what is likely) scraps or off cuts of fabric.

Consideredopinion · 30/07/2020 21:41

I find it depressing that so many people on this thread are using disposable masks.

Can I ask where youre all buying decent fabric ones from please?

DappledThings · 30/07/2020 21:41

One. Can't imagine it being something I actually wanted to collect.

Doilooklikeatourist · 30/07/2020 21:44

A washable one each , and a pack of disposable in the car for the quick trip to Tesco on the way home from somewhere else
