Do you have PJ days

Sometimes at weekends and days off we don't get dressed - often when I'm cleaning the house and the kids just having movie days. I seem to be the only one of my friends to do this. They all say they would at least get dressed in case someone came round. My weekdays are frantic and due to my job I'm always properly dressed and made up. AIBU to stay in PJs?

I have comfy clothes (joggers, vests, hoodies) so will wear them whilst I’m in the house.

I shower every day so normally lob my pj’s in the wash basket and put comfy clothes on after. (:

Youcunnyfunt · 23/07/2020 16:21

Yeah once in a blue moon, it's nice. For what it's worth, I don't sleep in PJs. I change into them in the evening for lounging around, and I wear PJs if having a "PJ day" but I don't wear them in bed! So they aren't sweaty.

AlphaDalpha · 23/07/2020 16:48

The kids do, we don't, I always have to leave the house due to pets.

DeeTractor · 23/07/2020 16:49

"Can I ask what advantages pyjamas have over comfortable day clothes?"

The reverse also applies. Pyjamas are just comfortable clothes are they not? I just don't see the difference between wearing a comfy tshirt and harem pants/leggings or whatever and wearing a tshirt and bottoms set that just so happens to be labelled as "pyjamas". Unless it only counts if your pyjamas are the old fashioned Aquafresh family striped numbers...?

And as for wearing 3-4 layers around the house, do you live in the Antarctic? I live in Scotland and at the most I'll put a jumper or hoodie on over what I'm wearing if I'm feeling chilly. My flat is never THAT cold.

LST · 23/07/2020 17:07

@AcrobaticCardigan no. It is not "vile". Don't be so ridiculous. Ffs.

LST · 23/07/2020 17:08

@busymum how old are you 3? 'Yuk' 🙄

evenings11 · 23/07/2020 17:18

I always get dressed (after a shower).

PaperMonster · 23/07/2020 17:37

Daughter has the occasional pj day - but that’s my idea of hell! I need to shower, feel clean and get dressed!

AcrobaticCardigan · 23/07/2020 17:38

@LST - it’s not so much the pjs themselves, it’s the lack of shower and/or putting something clean on. They must smell after a certain point!!!

DeeTractor · 23/07/2020 17:47

Why can't you shower and put on clean pyjamas/whatever 🤔

Governoress86 · 23/07/2020 18:02

We have pj days. We are having one tomorrow as it has been hectic week. We have been to a theme park and the zoo today amongst other stuff this week. I don't feel bad for doing it and sometimes if we are not doing anything at the weekend sometimes we will have a pj weekend, obviously shower and changing pjs each day.

AngryFeminist · 23/07/2020 18:02

None of us in this house get dressed unless we are going out. DS has enjoyed roaming around naked most of the time; we've enjoyed changing from one set of pjs to another between showers! It's interesting how many people would feel funny about people seeing them in PJs - it wouldn't bother me at all, and none of my friends or family would care I think...I'd care if I was unwashed but otherwise, it's my house and I want to be comfy in it!

Chocoholic12 · 23/07/2020 18:07

Got to work from home today. I got showered and dressed as makes me feel more productive but kids arent dressed and since finishing work we have been watching films and eating pizza hut and left over bday cake. Best day.

AltheaVestr1t · 23/07/2020 18:17

Also quite shocked at the amount of judgement on this thread! Busy lives, full time jobs, bills paid, everyone fed homemade decent food, house clean and tidy, lots of exercise and outside time etc - certainly not a lazy or slovenly household, but we do indulge in the occasional pyjama day and all thoroughly enjoy it! Anyone who chooses to judge others on the basis of what they wear in privacy and comfort of their own homes needs to have a look at themselves, I think.

LST · 23/07/2020 18:36

@acrobaticcardigan what after a day?! You must be a really smelly person!

Suzanne12 · 23/07/2020 18:39

I find I feel down if I don't get dressed into day clothes so I will get dressed even if I know I'm not going anywhere.

Namechange8471 · 23/07/2020 18:41

Morgana7

So you get ready because he says you’re lazy if you don’t?

Who the fuck does he think he is?

LST · 23/07/2020 18:44

I find I feel down if I get dressed and I have nowhere to go

Feellikedancingyeah · 23/07/2020 18:56

No I always want a shower when I wake so so I get dressed. Would hate to sit around feeling unfresh

Bargainhuntbore · 23/07/2020 19:06

Nope. Hate them. Last one i had was 2 Christmases ago when i had the flu and went to hospital. I only have them if im gravely ill.

AcrobaticCardigan · 23/07/2020 19:39

I think anyone would smell a bit stale if they’d worn & slept in the same clothes for over 24hrs...

Mimilamore · 23/07/2020 19:41

Oh yes.... one of life's little perks x
