Do you have PJ days

Sometimes at weekends and days off we don't get dressed - often when I'm cleaning the house and the kids just having movie days. I seem to be the only one of my friends to do this. They all say they would at least get dressed in case someone came round. My weekdays are frantic and due to my job I'm always properly dressed and made up. AIBU to stay in PJs?

No, I feel really grubby after a while of sitting around in PJs. I do enjoy a lazy weekend morning but I need to get showered and dressed at some point. Since March, I've been working from home and there have been many days when I've not been out at all so I've stopped wearing make up and doing my hair every day but I always shower and put clean clothes on. I wouldn't let DS stay in PJs all day either.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 22/07/2020 13:59

God yes! On days when we are definitely staying home and not expecting visitors. My girls love styling PJs. Always wash and always have clean PJs for bed if been in them all day.

JaniceWebster · 22/07/2020 14:00

YANBU to do whatever you feel like in your own home! If you like PJs, stay in pjs.

It's not something I would do in my house, I have enough casual clothes to have lazy days, as above, I really cannot see the appeal. I can't think of many days where we physically do not leave the house at some point, so I'd have to get dressed eventually anyway.

OllyBJolly · 22/07/2020 14:01

I had this conversation with a colleague. I have never had a PJ day. I've tried but given in before noon and had to get dressed. I like the idea but it just doesn't work for me.

SecretWitch · 22/07/2020 14:02

If I am not going anywhere I stay in my pj’s. I wear boxer shirts and a vest to bed so feel ok answering the door or getting the mail. I do change into work out clothes for exercise. I always shower and put on a fresh set every night.

I know my mental health is beginning to suffer when I don’t shower or change my clothes.

SallyWD · 22/07/2020 14:04

Not judging you and there's nothing wrong with it but I never do this. I need to be dressed to feel like I'm starting the day. We all need to go out at least once a day. I don't sleep well if I stay in all day.

JaaniGoGo · 22/07/2020 14:04

Not really but only because I wake up early to take the dogs for a walk, so have to change. But, I do stay in my joggers/leggings all day most of the time, if im not going anywhere other than the park.

The only time I’ll stay in pj’s all day is if I’m sick.

Grapewrath · 22/07/2020 14:07

Interesting that some posters seem to know what is better for other people’s mental health 🤷‍♀️
I’m rarely in all day but I don’t see the difference between clean pjs and clean leggings or harems. I don’t tell my dc what to wear generally so sometimes they have Pj days.
I don’t rely on what I wear to motivate me and neither do dc so it’s not an issue

Lemonyfuckit · 22/07/2020 14:07

Not my actual sleeping PJs, like to keep those just for bed, but (pre lockdown) would always change into comfy house clothes when got back from work / tend to wear the same when at home at the weekend apart from going out so same difference in the sense they are clothes for relaxing and being comfortable at home in, wouldn't want anyone to see me in them apart from DP.

Have now been wfh since March so pretty much every day involves comfy clothes (my god, I'm not looking forward to having to wear a bra all day again) but always with getting up, showered teeth brushed face washed sort of thing so feel am ready to face the day. We do often have v lazy relaxed days at the weekend lounging around though as it's been so manic work wise during the week. No judgment here for whatever others do too, do what works for you and we all need downtime if we can get it!

Quackersandcheese3 · 22/07/2020 14:08

I love a pj day.

HardToDanceWithTheDevilOnYourB · 22/07/2020 14:10

For me its a "recovery" thing, when I was unable to do anything at all, a counsellor told me if all "I do today is get up and get dressed, then it was a success"

So staying in my PJs triggers me, have to get dressed, I feel utterly miserable even lethargic/unwell. I can't leave my bedroom in the morning until I'm dressed. Its almost OCD like, I just have to.

KimchiLaLa · 22/07/2020 14:11

I think a monthly PJ day is fine. A daily thing would be a bit much. Having said that I am living in joggers and leggings atm.

1forAll74 · 22/07/2020 14:12

No way, I could not stay in nightwear in the day, I wear nighties anyway, and would not like to answer my door in one,or even go to the bin,or to my shed.

This morning, I almost felt like not getting dressed, and sitting around doing not much at all,as my Sister passed away yesterday afternoon, so would be easy to sit and dwell on things, but need to get some stuff done in the garden today, but not in my nightie!!

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/07/2020 14:14

I work nights, we wear pjs at work. Work with residents with dementia, we wear them so that they can differ between nights and days. Yeah you might think it strange, so i have work pjs and pjs for home lol.

There are days I have a shower when I get home and change into my home pjs. So yes i have pj days lol

LadyPrigsbottom · 22/07/2020 14:15

No, I don't enjoy this. I do love a fresh set of PJs at about 6pm though. My dc thinks this is outrageous and hilarious. I don't do it very often.

LadyPrigsbottom · 22/07/2020 14:16

I'm so sorry to hear that @1forAll74 Flowers.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 22/07/2020 14:17

No. Yuck.

LolaSmiles · 22/07/2020 14:17

No. Not getting dressed makes me feel lazy and slobbish.
I'll happily wear comfy clothes and chill on the house though. I don't get why there's an appeal not not bothering to get washed and dressed when it's totally possible to have a chilled out day after getting dressed.

Emeraldshamrock · 22/07/2020 14:19

No really. I use to on a Sunday pre DC with a hangover.
I do wear joggers with vest tops at home sometimes nice trouser ones they're very comfortable.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 22/07/2020 14:20

Never do. Have you small children ? My children have to be out early in the morning for a run around or they would be climbing the walls . I would love a pj day tbh now and again ! Though even when I’m sick and also after recent surgery I have to have a shower then change in to leggings and a top before I climb back in to bed!
Hopefully when mine are teens we can embrace a pj day

NotMyCircusNotMyProblem · 22/07/2020 14:24

No, never. I always shower then put on clothes - comfy clothes like yoga pants and sweatshirt / T-shirt if I'm not going out but it'll be a cold day in hell before I stay in pjs all day!

Margo34 · 22/07/2020 14:24

Regular dressing gown person here 🙋‍♀️ Proud owner of 5 dressing gowns though that get washed and rotated every week.

Been WFH since March and also pregnant, so clothes don't fit, pjs no longer fit, and even dressing gown is trying it's luck now too. Seemed an unnecessary expense to spend money on mat clothing for a few weeks when I'm essentially not going anywhere!

Even if I weren't pregnant I'd still spend the odd day here and there in pjs or dressing gown.

TheFaerieQueene · 22/07/2020 14:27

No never. I shower when I get up and get dressed. Anything else would feel grim to me. I love to feel fresh and clean.

legalseagull · 22/07/2020 14:28

No I feel sweaty and horrible. I'd change in to trackies and a hoody to slum around the house in

Mrsjayy · 22/07/2020 14:30

I was in and out of hospital as a child young adult and I'm like a pp its ingrained in me that getting dressed is definitely a getting better thing it has to be physiological I can still have lazy days just I feel strange if I'm not dressed.
