Do you have PJ days

Sometimes at weekends and days off we don't get dressed - often when I'm cleaning the house and the kids just having movie days. I seem to be the only one of my friends to do this. They all say they would at least get dressed in case someone came round. My weekdays are frantic and due to my job I'm always properly dressed and made up. AIBU to stay in PJs?

Fedupmum13 · 22/07/2020 14:31

I wear lounge wear quite frequently. It's changed my life 😂

LadyPrigsbottom · 22/07/2020 14:36

On lazy days, I wear comfy jeans and a vest. Naice joggers and jumper in autumn / winter.

There are very few days I get to not leave the house at all though tbh, as I have young dcs.

Agree with pps that wearing pjs and a dressing g gown all day reminds me of being poorly, so I don't like it. Negative associations.

fellrunner85 · 22/07/2020 14:36

I wear loungewear around the house, yes..but not all day unless I'm ill. I have to get out for a run or walk at least once a day to stay sane. Even more so for the kids; they go bananas if they don't get any exercise.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 22/07/2020 14:40

I don’t judge anyone either and don’t care what they do but I hate it.
I feel lazy and rubbish.
I’m also someone who is happy getting out for a bit, even if it’s just the garden. I need to be dressed for that. Even if it’s just joggers/yoga pants and a t shirt.

maddiemookins16mum · 22/07/2020 14:45

I feel a bit grim if I don’t even have a shower and put something clean on each day.
I’m off today, did housework, stuck bolognaise sauce in the slow cooker, unpacked a home shopping delivery and then had a shower. I then went out to get my hair cut.
Got back at 2pm, took the washing in and am now on the sofa in clean pyjama type bottoms and a t shirt. I’ve even gone the whole hog and taken my bra off.
So technically I’m having a PJ afternoon watching shite telly.

Elvesdontdomagic · 22/07/2020 14:47

I really dislike the PJ mentality personally. There's people in my local garage who go and buy milk in their robes and slippers! It's slovenly and awful I think to not just put some clothes on!

Loungewear is for lazy days at home and PJ's are for wearing to bed. Why anyone would go from a shower to PJ's in the morning is beyond me! Buy some jogging trousers or elasticated pants?!

DotForShort · 22/07/2020 14:49

No, never. I always take a shower in the morning and get dressed. If I'm going to be at home I'll put on comfortable clothes that I'd never wear out in the real world. But I wouldn't wear pjs all day.

But of course YANBU if that's what you prefer.

sqirrelfriends · 22/07/2020 14:51

No, but I did before I had a toddler. I now have to be out the door by 8 most days, either to get him out of the house or to drop him at childcare.

I also feel unmotivated if I'm in pj's.

user67864 · 22/07/2020 14:53

I use to do this (currently on maternity leave) however it made me feel very lazy and unproductive. I have now bought lots of loungewear so even if I'm not going out. I get dressed still into something comfortable but I feel more ready for the day and don't have to feel embarrassed answering the door to the postman in my pjs at 1pm Blush

SimonJT · 22/07/2020 14:56

I don’t own pjs, but I wouldn’t be comfortable not showering when I get up or putting something on I had slept in.

OhNoNotMonday · 22/07/2020 15:00

No because we aren't slobs. Yes I do have pj days and actually I am not a slob either. I think it depends on your definition of a pj day and very much personal choice anyway.

If wfh will get up and shower and get dressed and start working. Don't like dress down days at work so will work in normal business clothes even if wfh.

If not working from home and got nothing to do that means leaving house then I will get up shower and put pj's on. I sleep naked so pj's really aren't dirty.

When working at home or in office, if not going out will just get undressed back into pj's. Don't see the point in getting changed for a couple of hours into comfy's to then get changed into pj's to then go to bed naked.

FlamedToACrisp · 22/07/2020 15:02

@Fallsballs

I’m fully dressed in high heels, tan tights and office suit by 6am and don’t take them off until the 6 children are in bed, anything else is disgusting and slobby obvs.
You haven't left your tights in someone else's car lately, by any chance?
DollyDoneMore · 22/07/2020 15:05

No. Never.

I don’t get it.

Wear clothes you feel comfortable in, sure. But why wear nightwear?

Snowpaw · 22/07/2020 15:08

I have a routine with my toddler that we get up, get washed and get dressed before going downstairs every morning. She knows what to expect every day and likes the routine and I feel like I’ve achieved something once I’m downstairs in clean clothes. It helps when you have small children to embrace the small things you achieve each day I think. My mental health would be shot otherwise.

LadyPrigsbottom · 22/07/2020 15:08

I sleep naked so pj's really aren't dirty.

Nothing to do with the thread, but I once had to do a fire safety training session with a former US military fire fighter. He said try not to sleep naked! You either end up wasting time finding something to wear instead of getting the hell out of your house or some fire fighter has to lift you out with your bare arse right by their head.

Other tips I will never forget from that session:

If you have dcs and you want to get them out a window, throw out a whole load of soft stuff, mattresses or whatever fits, and throw them on top, then jump out after. Never jump out and tell them to jump, "I'll catch you", because they sometimes won't jump.

Also, have smoke alarms inside all your bedrooms. If a fire starts in your room and the smoke alarm is in your hall, it can take too long for the smoke to make it out to the hallway to set off the alarm.

Was a good session. Excuse derail!

purplewolfie · 22/07/2020 15:11

I'm still in them now :D

Waffleswaffles · 22/07/2020 15:12

No, but my normal clothes are comfy.
Just out of interest, how many films make a "movie" day?

Bluewavescrashing · 22/07/2020 15:13

Yes, often. I shower, brush my teeth and put clean pjs on though. Feeling unwashed is gross.

WokusPocus · 22/07/2020 15:15

@LadyPrigsbottom that was an extremely informative derail! I never sleep naked, it's too ....drafty...

I always like to shower and dress when I get up. I know that it's good for my mental health to feel like the day has properly started. My teenaged dc don't agree with this though and each day is a perpetual battle to get blinds up, windows open, clothes on etc.

LadyPrigsbottom · 22/07/2020 15:17

Ah glad you found it informative @WokusPocus! It was a really memorable session. I think I did it about ten years ago, but there's even more I could tell you about it as it was such a good session.

Summer41 · 22/07/2020 15:18

If my DP isn't around, myself and kids do the same as you. I love it and it saves on washing! DP thinks it's disgusting so we don't do it in his presence but if he has to go away on a business trip it's PJ time!

BalanchineBallet · 22/07/2020 15:20

No never, neither do my DC or husband.

Also, never had a movie day. As someone above asked? How many films is a day?? No way would or could we stay in all the house a whole day.

Lemonmaid · 22/07/2020 15:24

Do as you please! Personally I would get washed and dressed into something comfy other than PJ's, but whatever makes you happy.

Just don't go shopping in them

YgritteSnow · 22/07/2020 15:25

Yes at least once a week since lockdown.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 22/07/2020 15:27

Every day is a PJ day here at the moment unless we're going out for something.
