Do you have PJ days

Sometimes at weekends and days off we don't get dressed - often when I'm cleaning the house and the kids just having movie days. I seem to be the only one of my friends to do this. They all say they would at least get dressed in case someone came round. My weekdays are frantic and due to my job I'm always properly dressed and made up. AIBU to stay in PJs?

I don’t get dressed on the weekends unless I’m going somewhere. I’m entirely unashamed about it.

OhNoNotMonday · 22/07/2020 15:27

LadyPrigsbottom we do actually have alarms fitted throughout the house including bedrooms, I do have a dressing gown that is kept at the end of the bed as DSS lives with us and I wouldn't be able to go to the toilet in the night without putting it on. Point taken though.

On a slightly different note, we went to a wedding 2 years ago and a friend of ours sleeps naked but also sleep walks. Locked herself out of her premier in room naked and when she woke up in the hallway naked & couldn't wake her dh up to get in the room - if this was me I would never sleep naked again!

goteam · 22/07/2020 15:30

I change out of PJs but do wear comfy loungewear at home, loose joggers / harem style trousers, flip flops and t-shirts with no bra. I can't stand restrictive clothing. The kids occasionally wear pjs all day. Only if they have had a run of busy days though and genuinely need it.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 22/07/2020 15:31

I’ve trained the kids to not come downstairs until they’re washed and dressed too. I found it much easier to get everyone sorted before coming downstairs. Otherwise, it just got stressful and took ages to leave the house to do anything.
This way we can just decide to go somewhere and no one is arsing a round trying to get dressed.

Winterwoollies · 22/07/2020 15:33

No no no. I cannot bear not being dressed, it makes me feel like an unmotivated, slovenly pig. I like to be up, showered and dressed to start my day, otherwise I feel like the day has been totally wasted.

LadyPrigsbottom · 22/07/2020 15:34

@OhNoNotMonday

Noooooooo!!!! What did she do? Did she have to walk to reception starkers? I'm pretty ok with showing my body if I have to, but omfg, that would traumatise me a bit (also the receptionist Grin).

Happymum12345 · 22/07/2020 15:41

Maybe a morning, but not a whole day.

LST · 22/07/2020 15:45

God there are some vile judgemental twats on here isnt there. I really struggle to dress myself some mornings. I have RA and it fucking hurts. How dare people assume slob. And for those saying 'yuck' get a fucking grip.

GotGameByThePound · 22/07/2020 15:48

I love having a shower and putting fresh pjs on.

AryaStarkWolf · 22/07/2020 15:52

Yes of course, love a good PJ day

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 22/07/2020 15:52

Yes, love a pj day sometimes when we get rid of the kids DH and I will do the jobs we need doing then shower and put on lounge wear and chill with a bottle of wine and a movie. I live for these days. Some weekends if it’s been busy our children also like to stay in pjs and relax indoors.

Mrsjayy · 22/07/2020 15:53

@LST nobody is being vile or judgemental or even a twat posters are talking about themselves not anybody being a slob Confused

AryaStarkWolf · 22/07/2020 15:55

Sorry to hear that. I just like a PJ day because they're comfy and I know how to relax. Couldn't give a shite if some uptight people think I'm a slob to be quite honest

Sunshineandflipflops · 22/07/2020 15:55

Not unless i'm ill. I feel grotty until I've showered and dressed and it's rare I have days when I don't leave the house at all as I get cabin fever. As someone else said, I feel unmotivated in my PJ's and there is always too much to do for that!

LST · 22/07/2020 15:55

@Dollydonemore why not?

ChavvySexPond · 22/07/2020 15:56

I've always got up a couple of hours before everyone else and pottered about in my dressing gown tidying up, washing up, doing laundry, emails, lists, supermarket delivery, checking homework, watering the garden, whatever needs doing, then change into exercise gear and workout then shower and get dressed for work.

Lockdown's been the same in that I get changed when I'm doing something different but the timetable is somewhat changed.

I now start work immediately on regaining consciousness at dawn and get a few hours in before my husband needs the office at 9am and then I do my couple of hours of essential pottering about whilst remaining contactable for work and homeschooling and supervising the children. Then I work out. Then I go back into the office while my husband is on lunch.

After that it's the afternoon and I'm just going for my shower! Blush

I don't like to answer the door in my skimpy workout gear so I keep my dressing gown downstairs to throw on and any delivery people who arrive in the AM will have seen me in all my un-showered be-dressing gowned glory.

Even when I do eventually get dressed it's just shorts and a vest with stretchy bra and big pants underneath.

And that's only until we've eaten dinner whereupon I do my skincare again as per Caroline Hirons instructions and put PJs on again if we're all going to settle down and watch something.

So I guess the answer OP is I don't have PJ days but the impartial observer might think I do!

LST · 22/07/2020 15:56

@mrsjay have you actually read the thread?

Crystal87 · 22/07/2020 15:56

No. I can't just not bother having a bath or shower, I'd feel gross.

OhNoNotMonday · 22/07/2020 15:58

LadyPrigsbottom she just curled up tapping gently our door (thankfully only next door) hoping someone didn't come down the corridor and that my dh didn't wake first, luckily I am a very light sleeper (which she knows). I was very confused opening the door as she had sort half bent to try and protect her modesty so her head wasn't at normal height and she just sort of fell at me. She hadn't had a sleep walking episode in ages so didn't think she would do it. Once we had shoved something on her we went to reception to get her a spare key to the room, her dh never woke up.
Not going to lie, she will never live it down - ever.

WinWinnieTheWay · 22/07/2020 15:59

I can't wear PJ's all day, although the dc do sometimes if it's a lazy rainy day.

I will wear "house clothes" comfy clothes that I wouldn't wear to the shops or indeed anywhere. Not very different from PJ's but is a psychological trick to feel less of a slob iyswim.

AryaStarkWolf · 22/07/2020 15:59

I don’t own pjs, but I wouldn’t be comfortable not showering when I get up or putting something on I had slept in.

I don't sleep in the PJs I would wear around the house

RonnieBob · 22/07/2020 15:59

I do sometimes but only if I’m 100% certain I won’t need to see anyone so usually that’s when DH is home so he can answer the door if needs be.

Lockdown however has changed my habits and now I prefer to be up and dressed as normal top half but then wear trackie bottoms/PJ bottoms on bottom half for comfort.

It’s my lockdown compromise Grin

halcyondays · 22/07/2020 16:01

Tbh none of us ever usually get dressed unless we’re going out.

ohthegoodtimes · 22/07/2020 16:04

My dd had a pj day party this year for her birthday and only one of the kids said they have pj days too. We get washed and get fresh pjs on though.

ChavvySexPond · 22/07/2020 16:04

@MrsPrigsBottom That's is precisely why I don't sleep naked and my "slippers" are Velcro Mary Jane trainers. In a night-time emergency I'm functionally dressed, on the move and doing something useful within 4 seconds of becoming conscious.

The house is NOT burning down in my watch while I open drawers.

The chucking kids out of the window thing is an EXCELLENT tip Smile
