Do you have PJ days

Sometimes at weekends and days off we don't get dressed - often when I'm cleaning the house and the kids just having movie days. I seem to be the only one of my friends to do this. They all say they would at least get dressed in case someone came round. My weekdays are frantic and due to my job I'm always properly dressed and made up. AIBU to stay in PJs?

I think it's a bit grim and always shower. I have days where I shower and put on lounge wear, but that's a bit different to stagnating all day.

Peeta · 22/07/2020 22:45

I don't, it reminds me of being depressed and staying in my pyjamas and not showering til 7pm on bad days, so it's not a nice association.

On my days off it makes me feel much better to get up, showered and dressed, and out for a walk in the morning. If I'm not going back out again I often change into 'lounge wear', leggings and t shirts etc. Stuff I wouldn't wear out the house, but it's always clean and I wouldn't get changed if my close friends were coming round.

I read on the style and beauty board about the "one mile wear" wardrobe: clothes that are comfy enough to wear round the house, but nice enough to wear out. I need to develop a few outfits like this!

If it made me happy to stay in my pyjamas all day then I would. It just reminds me of a downward spiral. If I'd never been depressed I'd probably see it differently.

FrustratedMess · 22/07/2020 22:48

Just because you are in pj's, It doesn't mean you aren't washed..

Inthemuckheap · 22/07/2020 22:49

No never. I don't own PJs. Waynetta Slob springs to mind.

IfNotNowThen2 · 22/07/2020 22:57

I don't own any. And I never, ever, stay indoors all day, it would make me really depressed.

thriftyhen · 22/07/2020 22:59

I associate wearing nightwear in the day with being ill, so no I wouldn't. Also, the horses need doing every day, and that would just leave me with spiky bits of hay in my pyjamas!

Youbigdosser · 22/07/2020 23:04

Don’t bother me I’m a big dosser that will go shop in my pjarmas someone even took a picture of me once and posted on a local fb group 😂

MarinaMarinara · 22/07/2020 23:05

I find it almost impossible to motivate myself if I haven’t got dressed. Plus I feel a bit grubby if I haven’t showered. So not a relaxing or enjoyable experience! Each to their own though - I mean, ultimately those who choose to ha PJ days are not impacting me in any way.

SheilaHammond · 22/07/2020 23:07

No I don’t do this. Like others it’s important to me to do self care stuff because of some horrible depressive episodes. So I make myself get up, wash, teeth, dress properly in clean clothes, eat breakfast, go out with dog. If started in pjs it would soon slide into not washing, sleeping all day, not going outside etc

Kaiserin · 22/07/2020 23:27

Dear me, I'm glad I'm one of these apparently rare few people who can actually function without getting fully dressed!

I don't do PJ days because I don't wear PJ full stop, but I certainly have "just shower, change pants, and put a large T-shirt on + maybe some yoga pants" days, and they tend to be very productive in term of getting jobs done around the house!
And sometimes (shock, horror!) maybe I'll just laze out on the sofa all day watching telly, because my weeks are busy enough as it is, and I bloody well deserve a proper day off from times to times.
Apparently that never stopped me from being highly productive the rest of the time. Weird, uh?

Busymum45 · 22/07/2020 23:29

I can't stay in.pjs all day, yuk!

ShebaShimmyShake · 22/07/2020 23:30

I can't stay in my pyjamas all day, I hate it and don't feel fresh. I can wear very ugly and comfy clothes but I absolutely must shower and put on daywear even if the pyjamas look better.

I like to be in my pyjamas early in the evening but I can't just get up and not change my clothes all day. Even if I'm ill.

KittCat · 22/07/2020 23:33

I work nights so have lots of pj days 😴

indemMUND · 22/07/2020 23:39

Get up, get showered, put on fresh pj pants and an oversized band t-shirt. If I leave the house I change to proper pants/jeans and a fitted band t-shirt. Change straight back when I come home. Nothing wrong with pjs around the house if they're clean and so are you. Why stand on parade or be uncomfortable in your own home?

bumblingbovine49 · 22/07/2020 23:44

I often get up and put on a bra and t-shirt but leave my pyjama bottoms on to do a YouTube excercise video. When I am not working after thst, I often get distracted but watering the garden, doing the laundry , cleaning or whatever needs doing around the house then it is time for lunch. It seems pointless to shower and get dressed after the excecise because at that point as I will.just make another set of clothes dirty / sweaty in the garden and while cleaning .

I usually shower by mid afternoon on those days as by then I want to go for.a walk or something. If it is awful weather or I don't want to go out, I do sometimes feel.like I might as well.wait until bed time and shower and put on clean PJ's then..Blush

So yes sometimes this does happen to me. And yes I do feel a bit grubby by the end of the day but I quite like the anticipation of having a nice shower and putting on clean clothes before bed.

LockdownLemon · 22/07/2020 23:52

The only PJ days I have are when I sit at my desk first thing in the morning to check work emails and I'm still there at tea time as I haven't had any time to leave the desk to get dressed.

bumblingbovine49 · 22/07/2020 23:57

Those who WFH in pyjamas - don't you have any Teams meetings?

On work days ,.if I'm a bit behind, I do my exercise ( sometimes in pj bottoms) and then rush to logon for a meeting (yes without showering). I run a brush through my hair and sometimes throw on a smarter top but yes I have been many a morning Google meeting with pj bottoms on, ones that have been then used to exercise in.
I usually find 5 mins to shower and change at some point in the morning or in my lunch break. If If I am not running late I shower and change and even sometimes manage to go for a walk after the exercise before starting work. It all depends on what time I can drag my arse out of bed.Grin

DeeTractor · 22/07/2020 23:58

I own more pairs of pyjamas than I do "actual" clothes. If I'm not going out, I'll get up, shower and put on fresh pyjamas. If I'm out I put on pyjamas as soon as I get home. I do not understand sitting around the house dirtying good clothes.

Then again, I commit the cardinal MN sin of wearing clean pyjamas every single day. I am not "slobbing about" in stuff I've slept in all night. I just don't see how wearing "comfy clothes", which usually means something like joggies and a tshirt (which sounds suspiciously like pyjamas) is any better than just... wearing pyjamas.

Chickenwing · 22/07/2020 23:59

I have been wearing pyjamas since lockdown began. Can't see the point in getting dressed for hanging about the house.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 23/07/2020 00:00

Me and ds are often still in pjs at lunchtime, and I actually hand to send him today to get showered and dressed in time for tea Blush I do think we’ve got into some bad habits with lockdown and everything - staying up late, sleeping late, and then showering late as well, so I’m maybe looking to change that up. I don’t think it matters at all occasionally though, and I don’t judge anyone doing what they need to do to get through in these strange times.

Recoverandthrive · 23/07/2020 00:00

Yes and I love them.

savetti · 23/07/2020 00:03

No, because I’d feel yucky and I’d stink, with greasy hair

sunrainwind · 23/07/2020 00:27

Only when really ill. My children always get dressed too. However we always go out somewhere so need to be dressed!

dodgeballchamp · 23/07/2020 00:42

Yep. Frequently. Sometimes I do the morning dog walk in a PJ top and joggers. My friends know what I’m like so if they call round and I’m in pyjamas they’re not remotely surprised and I’m not ashamed. I don’t shower every day either. I’m a self confessed slob but I’m fine with that

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 23/07/2020 00:44

I have to get dressed. If I don't I feel unmotivated and crap - most I can manage is until about 11am and then feel the need to get dressed!
Can;t get on with the day otherwise.
