I’m not a Dr but looking at the speech Kanye West gave last night, he is clearly unwell. Shouldn’t somebody be looking after him, checking his medication, keeping him away from events etc until he is better??

He has bipolar and with his church he’s had a few messiah issues. They need to 5150 him again.

excuseforfights · 20/07/2020 14:21

I tend to dismiss it all as crazy Americans. I managed like 10 seconds and then had to switch off.

Well they don’t do it for trump.

Trump's not unwell, he's unpleasant.

There's no treatment for that. 😉

Yes, Kanye West needs to be hospitalised. I'm concerned next thing we'll hear that he's died suddenly. I read that his mother used to manage his medication and he listened to her. When she died, he stopped taking his medication regularly and has had much more unstable illness since.

I feel sorry for him and also Kim and the kids.
It must be horrific.

Smallsteps88 · 20/07/2020 14:25

Trump's not unwell, he's unpleasant.

He’s both.
The issue is he has always been unpleasant so the illness has been masked by it.

CottonSock · 20/07/2020 14:25

I agree with @DitchinVirgin. Amy Winehouse shows it happens in the UK too.

TheMarzipanDildo · 20/07/2020 14:27

*I don't agree.

If I had nearly killed my daughter, or my parents had nearly killed me, I'd be equally emotional.*

Given that you feel like this, how would you feel about your father telling the world that you had nearly been aborted?

I’m not entirely sure why his parents told him that they considered aborting him either. It’s clearly affected him.

Didkdt · 20/07/2020 14:28

This is what happens when the country's leadership election comes down to a political version of the X Factor. People think the presidency is glitz and glamour, no one wants a serious dry figure in charge they want character. A Kardashian/West Presidency should never have gotten off the ground. Neither should Trump to be honest.
It's about the contestants pulling out all the stops to tug at people's heartstrings and polarizing public opinions.
In this case the casualty will be North those clips won't go away.

@callmeadoctor

Are Mumsnet allowing this chat? They pounce on anything to do with Harrys mental state? (just saying.........................)
I didn’t realise it wasn’t allowed (if indeed it isn’t). Haven’t seen any threads re Harry (presume Prince Harry? Or Harry Styles?? Didn’t know either of them were not well)

What illness do people think Trump has? Dementia?

I’m not casting aspersions on Kanye West, I thought his bipolar was well known Confused

I hadn't seen the rally until this post. He's always been very passionate but this seems to be above and beyond that and quite worrying.

He's definitely not ok, I'm sure it was leaked somewhere last week that he was having quite a bad bipolar episode and I'm surprised this rally went ahead.

He's always been quite divisive but the footage I've seen is really upsetting. Strange to see the opinions where people discuss the Kardashians influence on him, but it's been quite widely reported that Kris who usually pulls all the strings in that family is not actually happy with him speaking in public right now because of how he could be construed.

ChicCroissant · 20/07/2020 14:41

He needs someone who can say no to him. He may not listen, but it needs saying.

He can never take back what he's said about his daughter and his wife, regardless of his state of health at the time.

Overtime2019 · 20/07/2020 14:44

I've just read a post saying he won't take meds. As he said it impacts his creativity and kim is standing by him by not taking them. I hate to say but i think that we are going to read someday that he's taken his own life if he doesn't get the help he badly needs.

SuperStay7 · 20/07/2020 14:59

Kanye is definitely a sick man. He clearly hasn’t been managing his bipolar disorder for years. All this church stuff and now politics. It all smacks of manic-episode grandiosity.

I feel sorry for him to some extent - he clearly doesn’t have good people around him who will step in and manage the situation in his best interests, and that kind of mania always precedes a big crash down in to depression. It’s sad,

However, I met Kanye through work just before his first album was released, when he was a well known music producer in the industry, but not a world famous multimillionaire - and he was a deeply unpleasant man. A bully, and extremely misogynistic. So...the sympathy only extends so far.

Livingthecovidaloca · 20/07/2020 15:00

The Tin hat in me thinks it’s an underhand Trump/Kushner strategy to split the black vote... whisper in KW’s ear enough times that he can do this, and he thinks it’s a good idea. They need to take just enough votes away from Biden.

RunningFromInsanity · 20/07/2020 15:05

He’s not ill, he is arrogant and spoilt. Everyone close to him is paid to be there so they aren’t going to tell him he’s being deluded.

Egotistical people with lots of money are dangerous.

I've literally just been thinking the same and came here to see if anyone had started a thread about it. I hope it doesn't happen and that someone in his circle can help him

I thought this too and KW - being a Trump supporter himself - is probably in on it. Was in on it. He's now a bipolar in a manic phase and no longer in control of himself.
Maybe83 · 20/07/2020 15:12

@15:05RunningFromInsanity your incorrect.

He was sectioned a few years ago and has a bi-polar diagnosis.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/07/2020 15:14

I’m not sure what the line is to be involuntarily ‘sectioned’ in the US? He comes across as very unwell.

Laws in the US can vary a bit from state to state, but where I live in order to be involuntarily committed you have to be ruled 'a danger to yourself or others'. If that happens you're placed on a 48 hour 'hold' (normally called a '5150') and a judge then decides if you can be detained longer than that.

So Kanye can be off his meds, spouting nonsense, making grandiose statements, even blowing through his fortune and it's quite possible nothing will be done. He would have to be either suicidal, actively endangering himself/others, or threatening violence on others.

Instead he's allowed to make a spectacle of himself and become an object of pity or ridicule. Luckily the Kardashians have a shit-ton of money because, in the end, money talks and a SHL can do wonders. For the run of the mill family of a mentally ill person all you can do is hope and pray your loved one makes it through a MH crisis alive.

Pinkyyy · 20/07/2020 15:34

Given that you feel like this, how would you feel about your father telling the world that you had nearly been aborted?

I'd feel happy that I was alive and even more pro-life.

back2good · 20/07/2020 15:58

Awful for their daughter to now have that out and about as public knowledge. I know someone who was told their mother wanted to abort them by her (emotionally abusive) father. She never really got over that.

Notredamn · 20/07/2020 16:03

His delusions of grandeur are getting to the point I recognise in some people I've known who were desperately unwell. It's heartbreaking. This time, what he's said could destroy his own family. It's very, very sad.

KilljoysDutch · 20/07/2020 16:13

I Thought this too especially with his diagnosis and refusal to take meds. They're letting him down so badly by allowing him to become this spectacle for people to point and laugh at. Not surprised by his pro-life stance though he's always been vocal about his lack of respect for women but he'll get votes from his fans and pull them away from Biden.

longwayoff · 20/07/2020 16:19

@LolaSkoda. Brilliant?

TibetanTerrier · 20/07/2020 16:30

They Americans have already voted one complete fruitloop into the Oval Office, so Mr West will probably win by a landslide.

The Chump is a rampant megalomaniac and pathological liar, with a soupçon of dementia added for flavour.
