Ok so this is somewhat lighthearted but myself and DH are constantly arguing about who is right.

....how do you make up squash?

One of us puts the water in first then adds the squash
The other one puts the squash in first and then adds the water.

How do you make it up and why do you do it that way? Water first or squash first?

I'm hoping to prove my way is the right way (😬)

I don't want to put YABU OR YANBU next to either as it'll out which way I do it!

I do both! Usually squash first but depends on whether I’m nearer the tap or the squash bottle. Feel like a weirdo now though.... Confused

YetAnotherSpartacus · 19/07/2020 11:59

Squash first. Also - jam then cream and tea then milk unless I know the cup very well and then it is milk then tea to give the milk a little time to warm up.

whiteroseredrose · 19/07/2020 11:59

Squash first. You always add the large volume to the smaller one for better mixing. (Old chemistry lab days!)

@PanickingAtDiscos

No, different things 😀

WokeEwok · 19/07/2020 12:00

@malmi that sounds a bit lazy, and I’m just checking, but is your water activated charcoal filtered - or are we talking bog -standard Brita? Because I’m judging you if so

IamMaz · 19/07/2020 12:01

Squash first so you can judge the strength.

Deadringer · 19/07/2020 12:02

Squash first.

What's the difference?

LadyPrigsbottom · 19/07/2020 12:04

Deliberately not reading the thread before I answer! I am considering this question with the absolute seriousness that it demands, you see Grin.

I put squash in first, because the water from the tap mixes it up a bit. If you add the squash first it would just linger round the top and you'd get a mouthful of really strong squash followed by a glass of water.

BadlydoneHelen · 19/07/2020 12:04

about 2 quid usually

"Simply dilute with the amount of water you prefer, and enjoy!"

Squash first.

SkylinesTurnstiles · 19/07/2020 12:06

Water first!

DadDadDad · 19/07/2020 12:06

It always amazes me that people have to debate practical things like this, when surely the answer is to a simple experiment. Make one cup one way, another cup the other, and do a blind tasting or get a third person to try both. To be more rigorous you might repeat the experiment a few times.

If one tastes better then you do that way. If you can't tell then it doesn't matter.

MrsFezziwig · 19/07/2020 12:06

Aren't squash and cordial the same thing?

Cordial is what posh people call squash (see also loungewear/pyjamas)

2155User · 19/07/2020 12:06

@BadlydoneHelen

That made me laugh!

I think, although don't know exactly, the difference is the fruit/sugar concentration

Elmo311 · 19/07/2020 12:07

Squash first!

teenagetantrums · 19/07/2020 12:07

Squash then water.

ConstantlySeekingHappiness · 19/07/2020 12:08

Squash first!

back2good · 19/07/2020 12:09

Squash first.

Unless you're just adding a touch of flavour to a water bottle for sports usage.

EatsShootsAndRuns · 19/07/2020 12:09

Squash first and then far less water than the bottle suggests. I prefer a drink to have an actual flavour rather than a hint of.

Busymum45 · 19/07/2020 12:10

Always squash first !

EatsShootsAndRuns · 19/07/2020 12:11

@malmi

I presume that's the quickrst method? Grin

ShellsAndSunrises · 19/07/2020 12:12

Squash first. Water first tastes wrong.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/07/2020 12:12

@Lottieskeeper

Water 1st, this is also an often debated topic in our house.

If you put the squash in first it gets all bubbly when you add the water so you can't get a full glass/ bottle.

Exactly this!!

Water first-the ribena goes all bubbly if put in second.
Maybe it varies by brand?
