Ok so this is somewhat lighthearted but myself and DH are constantly arguing about who is right.

....how do you make up squash?

One of us puts the water in first then adds the squash
The other one puts the squash in first and then adds the water.

How do you make it up and why do you do it that way? Water first or squash first?

I'm hoping to prove my way is the right way (😬)

I don't want to put YABU OR YANBU next to either as it'll out which way I do it!

OP posts:

Squash first!

TokenGinger · 19/07/2020 11:33

Definitely the juice first then water.

Saves having to mix it after.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 19/07/2020 11:33

Squash first, then you can work out how strong it'll be by how high it comes up the glass.

GreenTulips · 19/07/2020 11:34

Squash first

What adult can’t gauge the right amount?

DollyDally · 19/07/2020 11:35

Squash first as then it’s evenly mixed. Which are you OP?

SnuggyBuggy · 19/07/2020 11:35

Squash first, you can do water first but it needs mixing

malmi · 19/07/2020 11:36

A bit of squash in first and swill it around to coat the cup, them pour that out.

Add enough water to loosen the coating and again swill that round until you have a basic squash mix.

Now I like to use chilled (pre filtered) water from the fridge but if that's too cold then I might mix with some boiled water from the kettle so bear that in mind.

You then add the squash in increments with your filtered water and stir in between each 'increment' iyswim. I use a fork to stir because it creates eddy currents which blend the squash into the water more effectively but some people do prefer a spoon and that's fine.

So with each increment you will add about 10ml of squash and about 30ml of water but you can vary this ratio based on taste.

There are different ratios if you plan to add ice cubes in too but I usually keep it simple by making ice cubes from made-up squash instead of just plain filtered water, meaning I can choose whether to add them in at any point (I like being spontaneous with the ice you see).

Hope that helps??

Squash first

Lottieskeeper · 19/07/2020 11:38

Water 1st, this is also an often debated topic in our house.

If you put the squash in first it gets all bubbly when you add the water so you can't get a full glass/ bottle.

CazM2012 · 19/07/2020 11:39

Water first. But as I make it in a 2 litre bottle to serve out of the fridge I can mix it easily with the lid on.

RiftGibbon · 19/07/2020 11:40

Squash/cordial first. It doesn't mix well the other way and it's harder to get the right quantities.

heartsonacake · 19/07/2020 11:42

Squash first. It’s never even occurred to me anyone would do water first Confused

Alfiemoon1 · 19/07/2020 11:43

Squash first

CupoTeap · 19/07/2020 11:44

@malmi Grin

Squash first

Oldraver · 19/07/2020 11:47

I think if you put water in first it takes ages for the squash to mix in, so usually squash first

Apolloanddaphne · 19/07/2020 11:50

Squash first. Always.

TheGreatWave · 19/07/2020 11:51

Squash first, but I will concur that ribena does tend to get stronger as you go down.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/07/2020 11:52

Squash first. Saves stirring. [lazy]

nauticant · 19/07/2020 11:52

Squash first. Water first is for numpties.

WitchDancer · 19/07/2020 11:53

Squash first so the water mixes it. Water first is just wrong!

Starbuggy · 19/07/2020 11:54

Squash first because adding the water mixes it. If you do water first you have to actually mix it

FortunesFave · 19/07/2020 11:55

OP you have to tell us which one you are now.

Starbuggy · 19/07/2020 11:55

Although I’ve just realised that when filling a water bottle I do water first then squash Confused I guess because I usually rinse out the bottle, then fill it. But it’s easy to mix in the squash by shaking the bottle. Don’t try shaking a glass of squash!

vanillandhoney · 19/07/2020 11:55

Squash first, then you can add as much or as little water as you need. If you do water first, what do you if there's no room in the glass/jug for all the squash you want?!

It stresses me out just thinking about Grin

Ninkanink · 19/07/2020 11:56

I add squash first, so that I can measure accurately.

Then I add water and give it a stir to combine.
