And for an extortionate amount?! Who is buying these?
I've just seen one listing that they can post in UK for £3.70 first class.
Surely if you were even going to buy one of these 'gifts' you'd get one locally easy enough, and not have to pay the 'UK postage'Hmm seeing as they all look the same anyway

Yes I've seen these. Often with melted sweets squashed on top of them. Like stuff I would get ten year olds to make to keep them happy for half an hour

x2boys · 15/07/2020 14:28

I think you can get them in the pound shop ,or at least ,HomeBargains,B&MBargains type shops?

NotShiny · 15/07/2020 14:31

Yea, they are pretty crap arent they. It's like the ads for a picnic box, a few sandwiches cut in half to look like there's loads, 4 cupcakes and a price tag of £30 each. Do they think we cant go to Tescos and do this ourselves a hell of a lot cheaper?

NotShiny · 15/07/2020 14:32

One lady by us does a "cheap deal of a tenner a box", and theres something like 5 chocolate bars in it...think Mars bar, crunchie etc....does she think we are all flipping mad?!

username108 · 15/07/2020 14:33

Yes, and its always a certain type of woman/mummy that does it and calls herself an 'entrepreneur' or 'running my own business'. Same as the ones posting boxes of brownies for 20 quid. Just feck off hun

user1456324865563 · 15/07/2020 14:34

If they're still offering it, there must be some people actually buying them?!

NotShiny · 15/07/2020 14:36

User I think at the start their friends get cajoled into buying..then sales dry up...then they branch out to selling home made bath bombs for a tenner, that you can buy in cheap shops for 20p.

x2boys · 15/07/2020 14:37

I think people buy these types of things for Xmas stockings etc ,add ,bow and a bit of glitter and people will buy all types of tat.

HappyPunky · 15/07/2020 14:40

I got added to a group for a woman who does raffles.
She sells a number then draws it live so it might be a bottle of vodka worth £15 and she'll sell 30 tickets for £2 each so after postage she'll make about £40. It seems to be her mates buying numbers.

lillylemons · 15/07/2020 14:42

poundland sell the pizza sweets dd's brought them a couple of times.

NotShiny · 15/07/2020 14:42

Blimey..what an awful thing to do, make money out of your mates. Would be better if she gave it to charity.

OohKittens · 15/07/2020 14:45

I'm not on facebook and the one thing I miss is the crap people sell. Please someone post a photo Grin

I'd be asking for her gambling licence number!
Mrsjayy · 15/07/2020 14:50

Friend of mine has been selling stuff like this for years she goes to the cash and carry and does sweetie hampers she gets them sold especially around Christmas, it gives me the heebie geebies all those jelly sweets sweating in a box Shock I didn't like mix ups as a kid though I like my sweets wrapped

dontgobaconmyheart · 15/07/2020 14:53

Its shameless isn't it. I suppose they got a few sales in peak lockdown when people were up in arms and imagine the 'sales' from their 'business' will continue even though everyone can get the same for 1/10th the price in a shop.

I only retain FB for use with an elderly relative who insists on the messenger but see this stuff all the time. Around here it's the 30 quid 'afternoon/cream tea' - aka couple of tesco packet scones, catering mini jam and cream and 'bespoke' sandwiches (because there are 3 choices and you can choose two) with a 'homemade' vicky sponge.

I know some are short of money during lockdown but trying to rob others blind and make them think you're doing them a favour by using a spiel is pretty cretinous. All the 'reviews' in the comments are so blatantly their family and mates, it's pitiful. I doubt they even have proper food hygiene certificates for their address, or insurance.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 15/07/2020 14:54

I get these for my dc's Xmas stockings, but as I am a cheap ~~and horrible~~ mum, I get them from poundland. Ds3 thinks Santa owns Poundland, by the way, as he has noticed just how many of the things that were in the Xmas stockings are for sale there Grin

HappyPunky · 15/07/2020 14:56

@00100001 Grin I stay in the group because I'm so intrigued at how long she can keep it up

SecondStarFromTheRight · 15/07/2020 14:57

Can someone post a picture? Haven't seen these and am imagining some bizarre squished sweet monstrosity from the descriptions so far.

Mrsjayy · 15/07/2020 14:58

I know places want to earn money but those afternoon teas look such a faff.

No I don't mean pizza sweets. I mean random people just filling a pizza box up with sweets and chocolate and selling them for say £20, there's maybe £8 worth of sweets in it

Pics or it didn't happen ...

Beautiful3 · 15/07/2020 15:00

Agree. I have seen numerous ads for junk food. Sweet boxes, cup cakes, brownies and cream teas with sandwich fingers!!! All at rip off prices!!! Do some people actually buy these? Please tell me if you do!

Someone I know did this

She’s a mini Instagram influencer and held a raffle for her used/2nd hand clothes. It was a large amount of stuff, all brands like pretty little thing etc so nothing particularly quality, and mainly clubbing attire so bikinis, bralets & mini dresses. She charged £20 a ticket and sold around 65, so made an absolute killing vs what the clothes were actually worth!

Mrsjayy · 15/07/2020 15:02

£6.50 for this @SecondStarfromtheRight;
