And for an extortionate amount?! Who is buying these?
I've just seen one listing that they can post in UK for £3.70 first class.
Surely if you were even going to buy one of these 'gifts' you'd get one locally easy enough, and not have to pay the 'UK postage'Hmm seeing as they all look the same anyway

Btw I'm not trying to flog sweaty sweets Grin

Iwalkinmyclothing · 15/07/2020 15:03

No I don't mean pizza sweets. I mean random people just filling a pizza box up with sweets and chocolate and selling them for say £20

Bloody hell, that's bonkers

I might start doing it Grin Grin Grin

Finfintytint · 15/07/2020 15:04

I always report the raffles. They clearly don’t have a gambling licence.

bakereld · 15/07/2020 15:04

These sweet boxes all are all over my local FB page. I really want to know who on earth is buying these rip off boxes of crap.

AdobeWanKenobi · 15/07/2020 15:05

Before lockdown came the following post on local FB:

"Dose anyone no where I can by really cheap sweets cash n carry?"

She got several answers. A month later she was flogging pizza boxes at extortionate prices. I couldn't resist and did comment "was the cash and carry you were looking for not that cheap then?" Grin

She's still trying to sell them now. Be out of date before she shifts any.

SkinnyChicky · 15/07/2020 15:07

If rich people with more money than sense buy them then whats the problem. Well done to the people making a few quid out of them,

Mrsjayy · 15/07/2020 15:07

I used to volunteer at a place where some of the members were into the Raffles, there was a huge row because they suspected the organisers were just giving away cheap tatt and pocketing the money (they were) what a drama it was

NotShiny · 15/07/2020 15:08

I've just seen one....crap little cardboard box with a ribbon...you can chose the colour of the ribbon.. wow with..

1 crunchie bar
1 flake
1 twirl
1 dairy milk
1 small pack Haribbos

Tenner. You can pick them up at the shop for half that. .but oh forgot.. you get a ribbon!!!

QualityFeet · 15/07/2020 15:08

We have picnic boxes here. Hideous overbaked saturated fat with squirty cream and nothing edible. People raving about them whilst I judge.

Surely these sweets would go rock hard, as they're not wrapped properly?

Waiting42021 · 15/07/2020 15:09

I’ve noticed this too! I have no idea who would buy them, but somebody must be. They don’t even look impressive and I really question some people’s’ hygiene too Envy

I also saw someone I know doing those raffles. As a pp said, you didn’t need to be a rocket scientist to work out that she was buying a paddling pool for £30 then selling 20 tickets at £3 each. No idea how people fall for such shite.

She shut the page down in the end due to ‘limited interest’.

Mrsjayy · 15/07/2020 15:12

My sister bought a posh cheese and cracker hamperfot 2 from a tearoomn30 quid but you got a mini prosecco each so value for money 🙄

KitKat2020 · 15/07/2020 15:12

I’ve seen quite a few ‘ sweet businesses‘ pop up on my Facebook and on Instagram. I wonder if there is an MLM element to it, they are all so similar.

tobedtoMNandfart · 15/07/2020 15:12

Well! Fuck me. Money for old rope... I mean ... WHY???!!

theoracle11 · 15/07/2020 15:12

Another one is people taking orders for Sunday Roasts Envy not envy

These look like the boxes in our bottom kitchen cupboard where we chuck all the random sweets DC receive from various places.
Didnt know I could be monetising this!

ShineyMcShine · 15/07/2020 15:15

I'd do this if people were stupid enough to buy.

ShineyMcShine · 15/07/2020 15:16

Just looking at those pics, I feel like my teeth are falling out.

theoracle11 · 15/07/2020 15:18

This was a personal fave. The choc Swiss roll nearly sold it to me....

But they are! Some of the posts I see are from the buyers!!

JaniceWebster · 15/07/2020 15:20

it's a good idea, people buy them, no one is hurts. I might start something similar.

WHY do people buy them I have no idea, but if there's a market for it!

Darkestseasonofall · 15/07/2020 15:20

It's a way to advertise drugs for sale.
Sweets delivered, pick & mix etc, it's code for drugs, I found out a few weeks ago Hmm

JaniceWebster · 15/07/2020 15:22

I do agree, same as the milkshake/waffle shops. Always a front However there have definitely been a lot of non-drug sellers selling these sweet boxes lately
