And for an extortionate amount?! Who is buying these?
I've just seen one listing that they can post in UK for £3.70 first class.
Surely if you were even going to buy one of these 'gifts' you'd get one locally easy enough, and not have to pay the 'UK postage'Hmm seeing as they all look the same anyway

@Darkestseasonofall

It's a way to advertise drugs for sale. Sweets delivered, pick & mix etc, it's code for drugs, I found out a few weeks ago Hmm
No it's not. People who buy drugs know where to by drugs. They don't search through middle aged women's Facebook posts looking for £5.50 pick n mix adds! Grin
Mrsjayy · 15/07/2020 15:23

Oh god that Swiss roll is just sitting on top not even in a wrapper they could have at least got a packet of minirolls to chuck in.

LaurieFairyCake · 15/07/2020 15:23

Yeah it's got to be money laundering or some shit

No one is that stupid ....

QueenCT · 15/07/2020 15:24

I admit I do have cakes and Sunday roasts delivered
But from legit businesses with actual food hygiene!

Mrsjayy · 15/07/2020 15:25

Wellll.an ice-cream shop here is apparently a drug front but I can't see anybody looking for their herion from Shelly on Facebook

Lyricallie · 15/07/2020 15:26

@theoracle11

This was a personal fave. The choc Swiss roll nearly sold it to me....
This one even looks pretty empty surely you would spread it about to make it look full.

I saw them online for father's Day on Etsy and was going to get my SDad and FiL one but I refused to pay their prices. I bought some flat pack boxes off eBay for £0.70p of something and went to Tesco and bought my own nice stuff (which was all wrapped) for them. Especially during pandemic I don't know if I would want people's hands and now cleanliness ratings on my sweeties.

Also I love the one before that had the chocolate bar that said multipack not for resell 😂

AldiAisleofCrap · 15/07/2020 15:28

I always report the raffles. They clearly don’t have a gambling licence.
@Finfintytint why?

QueenCT · 15/07/2020 15:28

These are the kind near me but from businesses so the savoury one is from a local cheese/deli place

I don't think the idea of selling mixes of sweets is totally mad. I like sweets but only specific ones so tend up leaving half of bags of haribo etc because I don't like them. So I have bought from companies like sweetzy. Are they overpriced compared with the supermarket? Yup. But I get to choose my mix and they have sweets I can't get in my local shop.

However, a box shoved full of sweets by some random on Facebook who probably hasn't had a hygiene inspection? Nah, no chance! And those slices of Swiss roll.. how are they supposed to stay nice and not stale/squished into everything?

Mrsjayy · 15/07/2020 15:29

I was given s ferrero rocher tree from my birthday a. Year or so ago it had melted and reset!

Starburst8 · 15/07/2020 15:31

Yeah I can guarantee you it's not code for "drugs for sale" 😂
My cousin actually sells these naff boxes. I do look and think are those sweets gonna be hard by the time you get them?
I personally haven't had any of these boxes, I don't like the sweets but most of all, I don't like the idea of grubby hands on them (not that I'm saying their hands aren't clean 😂)

Think I'll stick to buying a chocolate four pack for £1 at morribobs

DaisyDreaming · 15/07/2020 15:31

I would rather see people selling cheap sweets that MLM, my newsfeed is full of people who have hit their new scentsy target, can cure covid with some magic oil or lose weight with their product. Not that I’m willing to pay for over priced sweets that have been handled!

GhettoDefendant · 15/07/2020 15:32

Meh, not something I can get worked up about. Lots of people have lost their jobs and are obviously desperate to make money somehow. If there's a market for it, then fair play to them!

selling them for say £20, there's maybe £8 worth of sweets in it

Capitalism 101 isn't it? How much do you think it costs to get a pair of jeans made in Bangladesh? The £80 people pay for them from a high street store website? Course not.

NotShiny · 15/07/2020 15:32

That's funny queenct...its a pack of cheap salami and a cheese board you can buy in aldi!!!!

Finfintytint · 15/07/2020 15:33

AldiAisle. I report to admins who remove the post. I like things done lawfully Smile

Notredamn · 15/07/2020 15:33

Yes....wtf? I could buy the exact same myself and cobble them together either in a box or a plastic cup. Why would I pay for someone else to do it for me at an inflated amount and then have to wait for it to be delivered?!

GreyGardens88 · 15/07/2020 15:35

These look vile, I imagine the sweets all stale with long strands of hair in it

At first I thought you meant the gummy pizzas and fry ups etc you can get, I always though they looked vile and grim too even as a kid

TheStuffedPenguin · 15/07/2020 15:36

It's like all the shit that people sell in the lead up to Christmas !

Pippapotomus · 15/07/2020 15:36

I have a friend who started doing roast dinners delivered during lockdown. But she's a proper caterer with an excellent hygiene rating and usually does weddings and formal functions. She has locally sourced meat and vegetables, and it arrives looking amazing and well cooked.

She advertised on the town Facebook page, and someone commented with their rival service and a photo of a plate swimming in gravy, wrapped in clingfilm sat on what has to be the grubbiest hob I have ever seen.

QueenCT · 15/07/2020 15:36

@NotShiny it's properly lovely stuff from the deli so local cheese, pork pies made on site etc. I ordered (not the graze box!) but some local produce when I couldn't get a supermarket slot. Yes it was more expensive but I couldn't go to Aldi as shielding and it was organic/free range/locally produced

FizzyPink · 15/07/2020 15:39

Clearly I haven’t got the right Facebook friends, I haven’t seen any of these and I love a bit of Facebook selling tat!

I do have to admit I bought a kg of pick n mix from an Instagram ad at the start of lockdown which was actually quite reasonable and delicious but may be why I’ve put on a stone since Blush

QueenCT · 15/07/2020 15:41

You can even get breakfast in a pizza box Grin

AmyC40 · 15/07/2020 15:42

Here our pizza box 'cheese board' (£20 and for 2 people but easily fed 3 of us) and 'cream teas' (this is just one person's and £10 pe head!) are excellent value and worth buying for a special treat.

Finfintytint · 15/07/2020 15:45

Do you think the photos are an example only and the delivered items come properly sealed in food safe packaging and at the right temperature?

Think I may know the answer.

MrsWombat · 15/07/2020 15:49

They are doing this around my way too. Same sort of thing at Christmas with Hot Chocolate cones.

From reading between the lines with a relative of mine who does the raffles, it's some sort of tax credit/benefit dodge loophole. If they earn a certain amount of money being self-employed they'll get something from the government so they buy and sell stuff off each other and it's the same £100 being passed back and forth between groups of friends. I'm not knocking it, you'll find me on the £10-a-day thread on Money Matters bumping my P/T wages up to £120 to get tax free childcare. Grin
