And for an extortionate amount?! Who is buying these?
I've just seen one listing that they can post in UK for £3.70 first class.
Surely if you were even going to buy one of these 'gifts' you'd get one locally easy enough, and not have to pay the 'UK postage'Hmm seeing as they all look the same anyway

OMG I'm creased up at the Swiss roll, Doritos Bouquet and afternoon tea with nescafe 3in1 🤣

Because for some people it’s their form of income....and yes I do sell ‘pizza boxes’ of sweets but these things only work when there’s a demand.

Let me know if you want one OP Wink

I've been seeing the 'afternoon tea' a lot, and some of them look nice but no way would I food that's been handled by some random stranger in a kitchen that might be minging, with pets and kids all over it. There's a reason food producers should have hygience certificates, for what they're worth, especially nowadays!

At the minute my facebook is full of bodyshop consultants, FM fragrance consultants, sweetie box sellers and bakers. It's rare I see a post which isn't someone trying to flog me something.

My workplace had a huge issue with raffles, a member of staff set up a raffle page, and would raffle off whatever, she sold a ticket to a colleague who then won, but was told the product wasn't available despite being something easy to get hold of like a litre of vodka. Instead the colleague was given a refund. Refunded colleague was particularly pissed off and told other colleagues who had bought tickets. It turned out it was all a huge scam and the raffles never existed, the woman who set them up just took the money for the tickets and then refunded the winner.

Love all the defensive posts with their naice boxesGrin

BertieBotts · 16/07/2020 20:32

How is that doritos one a bouquet?? It's just a fucking multipack Hmm

Frequency · 16/07/2020 20:40

exBIL bought some pizza box sweets for my kids when he heard they were struggling in lockdown. I assume they came from a proper shop since Just Eat delivered them. The kids loved them, even the 16yos and they came with a personalised note from exBIL.

If people are willing to pay where's the harm? And we get sunday lunch delivered quite often if I've been on nights or am hungover, albeit not in a pizza box but again, I'm failing to see the issue?

Nicola did you mean to attach the photo of your DD?

I'm ok thanks, loads for sale locally if I change my mind.

Just letting you know you posted a pic of a little girl on the park with your sweets photo

@puddleduckmummy

To be honest, they are exactly the kind of sweets that I would absolutely shove in my face. However, I would take my fiver/tenner to the shop and buy twice the amount to shove in my face. I also feel it’s more hygienic to do that than too, you don’t know how many sweaty little hands and dribbly mouths have been all over those boxes 😬
And this is my point exactly

Just to be clear, I am not ridiculing the sellers. If they get the custom, fair play.
I just can't understand how they get the custom.
I don't think of myself as struggling financially, neither am I right with money, but I just couldn't see myself paying a tenner for a box of sweets for myself or my kid, who will obviously then think it's free reign to eat the whole box 😂 when I could have got it at the fraction of the price. I agree on paying for labour etc to get things made / something unique, but its sweets (and god knows what else) tipped in a box. And as anyone can do it, and they clearly are doing it, surely this dilutes the market??

FelicisNox · 16/07/2020 21:36

Haven't seen this but my FB feed is flooded with local homemade brownie companies: 6 brownies for £13?

No thank you.

I would NEVER buy from someone who doesn't know how to use 'etc.' don't care how snobby that sounds
Spinningdot · 16/07/2020 22:00

I just don't understand why anyone would need this crap delivered, why they can't just go and buy it in any shop/supermarket!! If you can't leave the house because you're shielding then you're not going to accept deliveries of sweets that have been handled by fuck knows who! Is this sheer laziness?

PenguinsOnParade · 16/07/2020 22:27

The prices on the big bars here just really highlights the crazy cost even more.

I think Hygiene is the issue.

I don't feel there is value in these items. Something crafted by someone with a talent, yes. Something cooked and delivered to save me cooking and cleaning up (and probably tastes better than my cooking), yes. Something made with equipment I don't have at home, yes. Value in all that. Some sweets thrown in a box and a massive markup on them, I just don't get it

These boxes are made by a woman in a village starting with B!

StuffThem · 17/07/2020 00:28

@NicolaC12 do you have a food hygiene certificate and a kitchen that has passed inspection?

I assume they came from a proper shop since Just Eat delivered them.

Let's hope just eat have higher standards than Uber Eats Wink
