Is it cruel to throw sea monkeys away?

MIL got the the kids sea monkeys for Xmas I've only been the one bothered about them. They freak me out more than anything and can't bare the thought of bringing them to the new house.

Are these the type of pets you give away? Are they pets I don't know 🤣

"Get them put humanely to sleep at the vets" Smile

NotYourHolidayDick · 09/07/2020 09:22

I really want some now. But I'll call them seamen and refer to them regularly for immature purposes.

I fucking hate it when people proclaim to actually laugh out loud.

But I'm now officially guilty ffs

I remember being tasked with cleaning out the stick insect tank at primary school! The teacher didn't tell us how/where to dispose of the sand at the bottom so my friend had the bright idea to tip it in to the infant classes sand pit. Imagine the surprise a few months later when baby sick insects started emerging and crawling up the arms of terrified 5 year olds 😬

anxietrist · 09/07/2020 09:31

Thank you! I needed this this morning

Igotthemheavyboobs · 09/07/2020 09:35

I accidentally knocked my friends ones off the side and replaced with some water with pepper in it. She never noticed 🤷‍♀️

Omg I Love This Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/07/2020 09:57

I foresee a sea monkey shortage in the uk now.

bluebadgehelp101 · 09/07/2020 10:02

OP I assume you got them insured? Phone up your provider and they can advise you. There must surely be a get that specialises in micro aquatic pets.

bluebadgehelp101 · 09/07/2020 10:02

*vet!

TheyAreMinerals · 09/07/2020 10:12

Simians of the briny deep
Are you sentient beings
Or just water bugs?

midnightstar66 · 09/07/2020 10:16

Fun fact of the day - Do you know when the Greek Orthodox fast before Easter they are not allowed to consume animal products of any kind. There is even a special Flora as the normal margarine doesn't pass - must not be fully vegan - yet shrimp/prawns (and squid) are allowed. Make of that what you will!

This thread is the gift that keeps on giving! I've smiled, sniggered, and chortled my way through it, but when the resemblance to Dominic Cummins was made it pushed me right over the edge. Real laugh out v. loud momentGrin
So that was last night. And it's still 'giving' this morning. BRILLIANT, as Arthur Shappey would say.
Thank you everyone.

Laiste · 09/07/2020 10:58

I haven't belly laughed at a thread here for A Long Time.

Well done night shift :)

gotothecooler · 09/07/2020 11:01

Has anyone nominated this for classics?

5tressed · 09/07/2020 11:07

I too lost it with the randy OP bit Grin

''berryhead2013 - ... I have four pregnant ones just now randy little things like you op I am the only one who gives a shit about them''

Quietlyloud · 09/07/2020 11:35

I had these when I was younger. I don’t remember being particularly attached to them. I do remember the water going gross and I couldn’t see anything so they were thrown out. Many years later and I’m not scarred. I’ve had a lot worse happen to me though so maybe you’ll be affected by the loss of sea monkeys if your life is otherwise really cushy?

I was told they were the lumps in orange juice with bits and that has stuck with me lol

Temp123999 · 09/07/2020 11:46

I don't think @OP will be back

Quietlyloud · 09/07/2020 11:58

PablosHoney To be fair your comment was trying to be a gotcha moment. The other poster said they wouldn’t personally flush them but didn’t say anything about others doing so.

doingitforthefrill · 09/07/2020 12:12

Just by reading the thread title I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed!

PablosHoney · 09/07/2020 12:15

Nope, it was a reference to hating killing things.

Quietlyloud · 09/07/2020 12:18

midnightstar66 That’s brilliant lol

Quietlyloud · 09/07/2020 12:26

PablosHoney I mean you’re wrong but sure, carry on if you like. The poster only said they wouldn’t flush them, no mention of anyone else, even used the word personally but you chose to attack them and add your own spin onto what they said. I mean, it’s there in black and white, we can see that you’ve started something for no reason lol

RedOasis · 09/07/2020 12:31

@frostedviolets she didn’t buy them MIL bought them. Stop being mean. She’s not talking about puppies or kittens or babies tho is she?

CaptainMyCaptain · 09/07/2020 12:33

@Dylaninthemovies1

Why the fuck would you feed a fucking pet to other fish?
Food chain. Big fish eat smaller fish. Snakes eat cute furry mice.
PablosHoney · 09/07/2020 12:36

I’m quite happy for it to stand, pretty bombastic of you to assume you know better than I do about what I wrote, the poster said they hated killing things, that discourse wasn’t even about the darn sea monkeys. I did not personally attack them if I did it would have been deleted and lol to you too 😂😂 you write just like the poster you are defending, name change much.
