MIL got the the kids sea monkeys for Xmas I've only been the one bothered about them. They freak me out more than anything and can't bare the thought of bringing them to the new house.

Are these the type of pets you give away? Are they pets I don't know 🤣

Honestly the things I've learnt about sea monkeys tonight. I went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole.

So it's a whole community of sisters doin it for themselves?
Definitely need to keep them going in that case!

ZoeCM · 09/07/2020 00:17

Be fair...In the Night Garden is pretty bloody terrifying.

I have to admit you have a point.

runlift · 09/07/2020 00:20

Ours lasted 5 years until my parents finally killed them when we were on holiday. They felt bad and offered to get some more - no please no!!

They even died once in the heatwave but there must have been some eggs as they came back to life before I chucked the water out!

LaGoulueRevenue · 09/07/2020 00:50

I really want some now. But I'll call them seamen and refer to them regularly for immature purposes.

It's like something out of a horror film. The sea monkeys that just wouldn't die.

So those tiny hammers probably wouldn't work either. They'd just bounce back.

I hope OP puts them in the sea. I am hearing the theme tune of Born Free ringing in my ears as I imagine the wonderful time they wil have in their native salt water.

They are kind of spermy. to look at, I mean. Like a cross between ET and a sperm in a biology textbook.

Flashback to dp accidentally binning DDs dried, sea monkey eggs and DD dramatically calling him a murderer as the bin men went off down the street 😂😂😂

DannyNedelko · 09/07/2020 01:09

They live in salt water, so take them to the seaside and release them into the sea.

It'll be like the end of Free Willy.

FlamedToACrisp · 09/07/2020 01:26

@StarScream22

1. Have them each individually euthanised by a vet for 80 quid a pop
  1. Blend into a nutritious protein shake
  1. Pour into water balloons and make sea monkey bombs to pelt your loved ones.
Grin best answer!
undercoveraessedai · 09/07/2020 02:10

@ZoeCM @PablosHoney naice mice?!

BadLad · 09/07/2020 02:42

The sea monkeys are a couple of weeks too late.
When the rat with the broken leg turned up, the OP of that thread gave him ibuprofen.

HeechulOppa · 09/07/2020 03:02

@Timesdone How dare you suggest asking the flea to bite someone else, can’t you see that would be undermining and disrespecting its right to choose where to eat for lunch?!!

HeechulOppa · 09/07/2020 03:06

I feel you guys might lose your minds if you found out there are also Fancy Rats.

I once had second best in show at the Fancy Rat equivalent of Crufts preens

If it wasn't too early for popcorn and beer, I'd be having popcorn and beer.

PablosHoney · 09/07/2020 08:10

Is ibuprofen safe for rats 😂😂

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 09/07/2020 08:46

Oh my god it's still going. I love this thread.

ICouldBeTheOne · 09/07/2020 08:54

Don't know if it's been mentioned but this takes me back a few years to a MN thread where the OPs DP or flatmate had flushed her sea monkeys down the toilet because they stank and some posters feared for her life as he must be a psychopath and if he could flush sea monkeys, it was the same as killing a puppy with a hammer and she could be next...it got a bit out of hand and was deleted I seem to recall

barbedwired · 09/07/2020 08:56

This thread is the gift that keeps on giving Grin

Lorddenning1 · 09/07/2020 08:58

@BadLad someone was suggesting she take it to the vet to put it to sleep, it was a wild rat ffs, it did take an unexpected turn with feeding it medicine like 😬

BerriesAndLeaves · 09/07/2020 08:59

Definitely get them humanely put to sleep at the vets

midnightstar66 · 09/07/2020 09:11

I wonder if my python would like a fancy rat as a treat or if they all just taste the same!

WendyHoused · 09/07/2020 09:20

Just wait until you discover stick insects...

(Reproduce asexually, are almost all female, lay zillions of eggs, eggs can be dormant for years and still hatch, baby stick insects are minuscule and can escape any cage, spreading across the house. My friend’s staircase was crawling with them)

⭐️ for Heecjul’s award winning rat. My son’s rats won ribbons at a local show and he was so proud!
