After being blessed with learning about Paverotti's singing with Skunk Anansie on another thread, along with other great tracks.... can I ask for recommendations of artists or groups you love and can't understand why they aren't much better loved... trying to widen my music loves without listening to the radio.
I'll start with Natty - reggae- albums "Man Like I" and "Release The Fear"
Teddy Thompson- folk/pop/country/bit Everly brothers- albums "Separate Ways" , "Piece Of What You Need" and several others.

Lizzie mcalpine. Her voice is like butter. I love it

buckeejit · 04/07/2020 21:41

Just the thread I need as I need new music in my life!

I'll add Regina Spector as think she's fab. Also Mark Kozelek.

Pearl Handled Revolver
Excellent band, seen them live twice and have a few CDs. Kind of rock/blues I'm rubbish at genres, really good though!

I had tickets for the Birmingham concert in May. First time too. I could've cried.

I love the shows he does with his band Poundcake too.

Beth Hart is a fantastic blues singer, I wish blues was more mainstream cause more people need to hear her!

Scout2016 · 04/07/2020 21:47

@GizzaNuther think it would be my 4th time... we're rescheduled so fingers crossed you are and worth the wait.
What this Poundcake though? Of that I do not know...

I sometimes wonder how successful Viola Beach would have been 😔

Alistair Griffin, top notch singer/songwriter
callmeadoctor · 04/07/2020 21:56

And a cover from him:

Man and the Echo - brilliant, brilliant band (especially live!) who are still playing small venues and have an awesome stage presence. I genuinely can't believe they aren't huge!

St Paul and the Broken Bones - fantastic soul band from Alabama, again great live!

Echo Town - due from the south west who I saw at a local festival a couple of years ago. Phenomenal energy and sound from only two people.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 04/07/2020 21:58

The Longpigs. They were amazing. Also Wings - never got the respect they deserved as they weren’t The Beatles.

RubyWho · 04/07/2020 22:00

Paper Dollhouse
First Aid Kit
Litany

GizzaNuther · 04/07/2020 22:01

What this Poundcake though? Of that I do not know..

It's a band that he's in where they do a lot of cover versions as well as a few of TT's own songs. They've had a couple of albums but the easiest way to see them is in the Youtube videos that fans post of their shows.

I'm not good with links but:

Brandi Carlile. She’s the artist of a lifetime for me.

The Lovely Eggs.
Talented 2 piece, utterly hilarious too. They are husband & wife and tour with their mums & toddler. Worth following on Facebook etc they're very funny.
They make a lot of noise and are amazing live.

Fionn Regan. Beautiful songs. The soundtrack of me & dh falling in love Wink

Raleigh Ritchie - his song 'stronger than ever' was featured heavily across a lot of sporting events (it's very triumph over adversity) but my favourite is Bloodsport '15.
