What is your favourite pudding?

I have so many favourite puddings but if I had to choose it would be a really decent banofee pie, with cream. I don’t understand how previous generations survived without it. They must have suffered terribly.

What’s your favourite pudding?

Pavlova or Eton mess

Skigal86 · 02/07/2020 21:13

Or my dear departed dads sherry trifle. Best served for Boxing Day breakfast!

bestbrowsintown · 02/07/2020 21:14

My favourite is probably lemon tart though

Stripeytopgirl · 02/07/2020 21:14

Co-op brand Chocolate cake with double cream or
Home made banoffe pie. Can’t decide.

C1u4toff · 02/07/2020 21:16

Coconut and jam sponge and custard. Only ever eat it once in a blue moon as I do a specific diet and its too calorific

sneezetwice · 02/07/2020 21:17

Never been able to look at apple pie since I was in infant school. It was served for pudding in school and I saw a baked spider inside the pudding. I realised years later it was probably burnt core or pips but I still can't deal with it. And that reminds me, pink sponge with strawberry custard and green sponge with mint custard!

missyB1 · 02/07/2020 21:17

Another vote for syrup sponge with custard, good old fashioned English pud!

mrsBtheparker · 02/07/2020 21:18

Not a great pudding person but when I make Delia's Little Sticky Toffee puddings I make an exception! I also double the sauce recipe, it seems a popular move.

Roominmyhouse · 02/07/2020 21:19

I don’t think I can pick between lemon tart and sticky toffee pudding. Both with cream please!

WanderingMilly · 02/07/2020 21:20

My favourite is called "fairy pudding", it's an old recipe from MIL (when I was married) and involves a type of lemony sorbet-type centre with a real custard (made with eggs, sugar and cream etc. not modern custard) sauce poured round.
Sadly I lost the recipe and haven't been able to make it for years....

BonestoBones · 02/07/2020 21:21

I love cheesecake except orange or strawberry flavours why they exist I don't know.

I also made a bread and butter pudding but with scones at they needed using up. It was fucking lovely. I highly recommend.

rottiemum88 · 02/07/2020 21:24

Summer - tarte au citron
Winter - rhubarb crumble and custard

I'm with you. No sweet tooth unless you count wineHmm

BobbinThreadbare123 · 02/07/2020 21:29

Lemon tart
Sticky toffee pudding
Chocolate brownie with peanut butter ice-cream
Cheesecake - pretty much any but this beast www.maryberry.co.uk/recipes/desserts/heavenly-lemon-cheesecake-on-a-ginger-crust is the absolute dog's bollocks

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 02/07/2020 21:35

Oooh...chocolate sponge pudding with custard, praline and caramel roulade, crème brûlée with a really solid top, dark chocolate torte with raspberry coulis... I think I have a problem! I live in the US now, and dessert is one of the things I miss most about the UK. Sweet things are almost universally shit here.

MinnieJackson · 02/07/2020 21:36

Creme brulee

MinnieJackson · 02/07/2020 21:38

@IncorrigibleTitmouse I've heard so many bad things about American sweets! Are they really that bad? I imagine them to taste synthetic but what about homemade ones like cobblers and pies?

Starbuggy · 02/07/2020 21:39

Banoffee pie

I’m very upset that Asda have taken it off their website for home delivery ( or my local one has anyway). Not even unavailable, just not there at all Sad

longcoffee · 02/07/2020 21:40

Waaaaaaaaah! I'm so huuuuungry!

All of them. All the puddings.

SillyBub · 02/07/2020 21:44

I very, very rarely have a pud, but if any of these are on the menu, I'll succumb to the temptation.

Lemon cheesecake
Affogato
Lemon tart
Rhubarby things that aren't too sweet.

Basically I like my puddings tart or espressoey!

rabbitheadlights · 02/07/2020 21:52

Not a huge pudding fan and usually go for the cheese board .... However a homemade Manchester tar with lashings of custard!! Yes please

rabbitheadlights · 02/07/2020 21:52

Tart**

MrsAvocet · 02/07/2020 21:53

Impossible to choose! If I had to pick one, probably creme brulee but it would be difficult to think of a dessert I don't like to be honest. Another serious contender is the walnut and maple ice cream that they serve at a little restaurant near us. I have had the same flavour elsewhere and its nice enough, but never as good as this particular place.
I used to be a big sponge pudding fan. My Mum's homemade sponge puddings were incredible and she had quite a repetoire. I have never had any as good since she died though, so I am always slightly disappointed and rareky pick them now.

bluechameleon · 02/07/2020 21:54

Banoffee pie is definitely up there. Other contenders are profiteroles, bread and butter pudding and rhubarb crumble.

LellyMcKelly · 02/07/2020 21:54

Apple crumble
Rhubarb crumble
Blackberry crumble

Served with lashings of hot Custard. Food of the gods.
