What is your favourite pudding?

I have so many favourite puddings but if I had to choose it would be a really decent banofee pie, with cream. I don’t understand how previous generations survived without it. They must have suffered terribly.

What’s your favourite pudding?

Baked Alaska! Grin

Mamamamycorona · 05/07/2020 11:19

I love a good panacotta or cheesecake. Not big on hot puddings

Many, many years ago M&S did a Chocolate Yule log at Christmas. It was delicious. Had it for a couple of years then they changed the recipe. Chocolate ganache and whiskey or rum in it. It was frozen so we’d have to wait a bit to eat it.
Then Sarah Lee’s Double Chocolate Gateaux. Again gorgeous then the company got taken over and recipe changed.

Clafoutis - it's sort of yorkshire pudding with cherries instead of sausages
Bread and butter pudding
My Mum's lemon meringue - have tried others, but none taste as good. She used to make the lemon base really tart, and excellent contrast with meringue. Sadly she died 20 years ago, so will never have that again.

& not usually my first choice, but the pannacotta that I had in a restaurant yesterday was exquisite!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 05/07/2020 11:29

Oh, yes, another one for Caffe Reale at Pizza Express

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 05/07/2020 11:30

and rhubarb crumble (with oats not flour)

AlpineBell · 05/07/2020 12:10

I used to have a pudding at school eg. Sponge and custard and a pudding at home in the evening when I was a kid but was pretty skinny. We could buy crisps from the school tuck shop at break, but other than that didn't snack much. That must have been how we got away with it.

TimeWastingButFun · 05/07/2020 12:18

A really good quality creme brûlée

pigletpie2177 · 05/07/2020 12:19

Either a really good sticky toffee pudding or a really good melt in the middle chocolate fondant. Sadly too many of them are disappointing 🙈

MaryShelley1818 · 05/07/2020 12:39

Jam Roly Poly and custard - a proper suet one.

Passmethechocolatecake · 05/07/2020 12:42

Warm apple and blackberry crumble with cream. I’d trade my left arm for that right now!

Heytheredelilah99 · 05/07/2020 15:14

Ooh....Rhubarb Crumble and Custard
Lemon meringue pie
Lemon posset - have has a couple times in restaurant and really liked it but rich.

MotherofPearl · 05/07/2020 15:20

I've made a lemon meringue pie today, inspired by this thread. Delicious.

LadyPrigsbottom · 05/07/2020 15:25

Oooooh yum mother! I think Lemon Meringue might be my second favourite and it's a really close thing. Only homemade though. I'm not keen on most of the shop bought ones...bit bland.

MotherofPearl · 05/07/2020 15:29

Yes I agree about only homemade Lady. Shop bought puds are often claggy and tasteless, and not worth the calories. Though of course restaurant ones can be delicious.

Lonelykettleshed · 05/07/2020 15:35

Joining in with the créme brûlée votes. However, I don't want it faffed about with - don't ruin it with rhubarb or such like in the bottom of the dish.

Rhubarb crumble and custard
Tiramisu
Cheesecake and cream

forgetthehousework · 05/07/2020 15:38

Damn, damn, damn. Now I want to make a dessert ...
And eat it all!

Auridon4life · 05/07/2020 15:40

Plain Cheesecake with my home made strawberry sauce or a cream cake selection

LadyEloise · 05/07/2020 16:00

Does anyone know where one can get a great Gateau Diane ?

pigletpie2177 · 05/07/2020 16:13

Oh I forgot about lemon meringue, can I have three favourites? ☺️

Disfordarkchocolate · 05/07/2020 16:17

If I had to choose one it would be lemon tart. Really though, I need a top 10.

Bodgedboxdye · 05/07/2020 16:27

When my uncle used to manage a pub, my sister and I used to get hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream for dessert. The best.

Warm chocolate brownie with ice cream.
Apple and black current crumble with custard.
The chocolate cake and chocolate sauce you got from school.
The syrup sponge and custard you got from school.
