What is your favourite pudding?

I have so many favourite puddings but if I had to choose it would be a really decent banofee pie, with cream. I don’t understand how previous generations survived without it. They must have suffered terribly.

What’s your favourite pudding?

Oh gosh one pudding? That’s so hard. Hmmm, mind you, I think of a pudding as being slightly different to a desert...... so that narrows it down a bit to sticky toffeE pudding or apple and
Blackberry crumble. Both with custard or very thick double cream.

RamblinRosie · 02/07/2020 23:53

Creme brûlée, we usually spend 10 days every year travelling round France, if I don’t get at least 5 cremes brûlée I am sorely disappointed!

Homemade gooseberry/rhubarb/damson fool.
Delia’s chocolate roulade.
Lemon dainty.

rosiejaune · 02/07/2020 23:55

@Turnedouttoes

Ooohhh I love a pavlova or Eton mess but sadly I’m dairy free.

Perhaps Apple crumble and custard

So? You can make those vegan.

I don't really eat the kind of thing people are talking about here. I mean some of them are OK, bit I prefer savoury food.

So my favourite afters (rather than pudding specifically, though I don't really eat befores/afters either, I mostly snack) would be cherry or baby plum tomatoes. Really firm and deep red ones.

Tillygetsit · 02/07/2020 23:57

Key lime pie.

shas19 · 02/07/2020 23:58

Hawksmoor sticky toffee pudding, kladakka (basically a brownie but really sticky) with salted caramel ice cream, baileys tiramisu, raspberry posset..literally everything

SerenityNowwwww · 03/07/2020 00:00

Oh yes posset ( doesn’t it sound like a cute wee mousey creature?). Also Cranachan.

AhBallix · 03/07/2020 00:03

Proper alcoholic sherry trifle.

Allmyeye · 03/07/2020 00:05

Ice cream especially things like maple & walnut, hazelnut and pecan.
Home made Baileys cheese cake.
There’s also a commercial desert I’ve only ever seen in three places. It’s called chocolate Lumpy Bumpy and it’s lovely. All layers of chocolate cake, mousse and creamy stuff.

Mrmojorising71 · 03/07/2020 00:23

Sticky toffee pudding 😍

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/07/2020 00:25

Eton Mess

Crankley · 03/07/2020 00:32

In winter there's nothing better than home made rice pudding with a nutmeg crust and some jam.

End of August, when Victoria plums are in season, I make plum batter which is plums in yorkshire pudding with all the juices mixing with the batter - it's heaven.

I love home made profiteroles with amaretto cream and raspberry inside and instead of choc sauce I dip the tops in caramel.

I've recently heard about bananas foster which is bananas cooked in butter, brown sugar, rum and banana liqueur., topped with vanilla ice cream which sounds yummy.. I've put in an order for the liqueur - can't wait to try it.

If I just want a bowl of ice cream, Waitrose's chocolate and blood orange is my absolute favourite but also love Haagen Dag strawberries and cream.

Graphista · 03/07/2020 00:44

Death by chocolate cake as found where I was living late 80's/early 90's and I haven't been able to find it ANYWHERE since -

Layer of Chocolate sponge, layer of chocolate buttercream, another layer of chocolate sponge, then a layer of chocolate mousse all enveloped in chocolate ganache and topped with curls of 3 colours of chocolate.

Hot chocolate fudge cake with good vanilla ice cream is what I've ended up having instead

Tablet flavour ice cream - place local to me does a tablet and irn bru ice cream which isn't as sickly as it sounds.

But yes thoroughly enjoy steamed sponge puddings with custard too preferably chocolate or golden syrup flavours

shas19 · 03/07/2020 00:46

Oh and lemon meringue pie, all homemade. Once you've cut off the excess pastry you can dip it in the left over curd and soft meringue 🐖

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 03/07/2020 00:50

Jam roly poly and custard

Torvean · 03/07/2020 04:16

Old fashioned rice pudding with the skin still on top.Grin

vampirethriller · 03/07/2020 07:13

Trifle with orange or strawberry jelly and there has to be glace cherries and hundreds and thousands on top.

LakieLady · 03/07/2020 07:56

@Chochito, have you ever tried a splash of grappa on your affogato? It is bloody fab and is now my go-to pudding if we eat in an Italian restaurant.

LakieLady · 03/07/2020 08:05

I like puddings so much I couldn't possibly pick just one. Creme brulee and panna cotta are 2 favourites, but I also love sticky toffee pudding and chocolate sponge with chocolate sauce.

What I would love to eat again is a lemon and ginger cheesecake I had at a pub just up the road. The lemon was like a lemon sauce marbled through the cheesecake, and it had thin slivers of stem ginger in it. I've thought of trying to replicate it at home using lemon curd, but never got round to it.

My favourite pudding to make at home is Mary Berry's raspberry mousse, it's delicious. And DP makes fantastic bread and butter pudding.

TheGroak · 03/07/2020 08:11

@Crankley the plum thing sounds divine! I love Victoria plums!

Also, I love cooked banana. Banana fritters with caramel sauce, BBQ bananas....love it.

Spaceprincess · 03/07/2020 08:15

It used to be waitrose double chocolate cheesecake from the patisserie thing but they stopped doing it in 2018 :(

TheGroak · 03/07/2020 08:16

Now I’m over invested in this thread, I can see a good old 1970s Black Forest Gateau hasn’t been mentioned and you know what? I’m quite partial to a slice. With pouring cream.

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 03/07/2020 08:20

Affogato.

redwoodmazza · 03/07/2020 08:30

Crispy Butterscotch Pie - this was always my birthday pudding when I was little - and I'm very old now with a son of 28 who also loves it!!!

JulesJules · 03/07/2020 08:35

Affogato or creme brûlée.

If it's on the menu I will always choose creme brûlée, and if it isn't I will usually have cheese.

k1233 · 03/07/2020 08:39

Lemon delicious
Anything with a good quality lemon curd
Lemon meringue

But my all time favourite is my mum's homemade pecan pie - you cannot buy anything close to how marvelous it is.
