What is your favourite pudding?

I have so many favourite puddings but if I had to choose it would be a really decent banofee pie, with cream. I don’t understand how previous generations survived without it. They must have suffered terribly.

What’s your favourite pudding?

Chocolate molten cake and ice cream
Lemon meringue pie
Apple crumble and custard
Cherry lattice pie and custard
Damn I’m hungry

jessstan2 · 02/07/2020 21:56

Apple or apple and blackberry tart, pie or crumble.

formerbabe · 02/07/2020 21:57

Creme brulee
Lemon tart
I went to the Ivy years ago and had berries with white chocolate sauce...it was really delicious

Doilooklikeatourist · 02/07/2020 21:57

Creme brûlée's or lemon tart

Zoflorabore · 02/07/2020 21:57

Jam roly poly and custard 😍

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 02/07/2020 22:02

@MinnieJackson There are some rare exceptions to the rule, but not many. I can make decent things at home, and I have had good desserts in major cities like NYC (delicious cheesecake) and in our city we have a fabulous local ice cream producer.

Overall, though, they put too many additives in things here and, as you said, everything ends up tasting synthetic. My DH loves a lot of American desserts because he grew up on them but definitely sees the difference and why I don't like them. Apparently it's to increase shelf life--things don't go off for about a month. It's so strange. I just can't get on board with either the flavour or the texture of chocolate here. I'll only eat Lindt or Ferrero Rocher!

CatBatCat · 02/07/2020 22:12

Thick butterscotch tart

Lockdownlumpy · 02/07/2020 22:27

I'm not sure I can pick a favourite, I have a very sweet tooth.
But on the list would be
A truly amazing sticky toffee pud with excellent custard
Pavlova
Banoffee - not shop bought
My mum's lemon cheesecake
Trifle
Nigellas chocohotopots with obscene amounts of cream
Portuguese almond tart - cant get it here :(
A really good creme brulee with a proper hard cracky top

WeAllHaveWings · 02/07/2020 22:27

rhubarb crumble and custard

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 02/07/2020 22:30

Lemon meringue pie (made from scratch)
Clafoutis is lovely (Batter pudding with cherries if anyone doesn’t know, dead easy too.)
Bread and butter pudding, standard version, not mucked about
Any crumble - apple and mincemeat crumble is v nice in the aftermath of Christmas if there’s any mincemeat left.

I always mean to try making a Sussex Pond Pudding But have never got around to it - supposed to be food of the gods. It’s a suet pud with a whole lemon and brown sugar inside, which turns into a lemony goo when cooked.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 02/07/2020 22:32

The caffe reale mini pudding from Pizza Express (blob of mascarpone with marinated spiced figs and a coffee).

LadyPrigsbottom · 02/07/2020 22:32

Another vote for creme brulee! Delish.

Deelish75 · 02/07/2020 22:35

Lemon cheesecake with summer berries compote.
Jam rolypoly and custard.

WinWinnieTheWay · 02/07/2020 22:37

Rhubarb Crumble with Cream.

formerbabe · 02/07/2020 22:38

I do love a really good quality chocolate mousse

MinesaPinot · 02/07/2020 22:43

Bread and butter pudding with good custard. The best I've ever had was in Gary Rhodes restaurant in the City years ago. Nothing has really come close but I have it every time it's on a menu, in the interests of research of courseSmile

Home made banoffee pie

Have to say nowadays I'd rather have a good cheeseboard rather than a sweet pudding, except for the above naturally.

passthemustard · 02/07/2020 22:43

ALL OF THEM

frustrationcentral · 02/07/2020 22:44

Bread and butter pudding!

cricketmum84 · 02/07/2020 22:45

Definitely tiramisu ❤️

Jeaniealogy · 02/07/2020 22:45

Yorkshire

JammyHands · 02/07/2020 22:46

There's a thing called 'grand dessert' which is like a tasting plate of a dozen puddings, one of which must be coconut icecream, and on the rare occasions when I see it on the menu, I'll always have it.

Apart from that, Armagnac prunes with vanilla ice cream.

BillyAndTheSillies · 02/07/2020 22:48

Eton mess. I get really disappointed if it's not on a menu.

ginghamstarfish · 02/07/2020 22:49

Trifle, closely followed by Tiramisu.

Egghead68 · 02/07/2020 22:49

Ice cream, roulade, trifle.
