To say I don't think schools will be back in September?

In fact I don't think they will be fully back until Easter 2021.
I'm posting this now because I've enjoyed looking back at my Feb posts (under a different name) that predicted what was going to happen and loads of people saying I was barmy/lost the plot etc.
I've read loads of posts this week celebrating that kids will be going back in September. Gosh I do hope they are right, mine are going stir crazy and haven't learnt a thing, however I think it's all fantasy and come September it will be the same as now, keyworkers and at best the odd year group. Please vote IABU all schools will be back in Sept or IANBU most will still be at home. Then come September I will update this post and see who was right.

Deja vu? I swear someone posted the same thread earlier this week

Hedgehog44 · 26/06/2020 21:15

Mine is back part time. I am hoping for full time in September. Boris is opening everything else up!

seenbeensbean · 26/06/2020 21:16

Not another school thread, there has already been one of these this week.

Reallyhow122 · 26/06/2020 21:16

If thousands of people can go to the beach surely kids can go back to school?

Realityofsen · 26/06/2020 21:21

They will be regardless of the virus. They will just start doing more to keep the virus out of the news so people are less aware and kids will be back fully as if nothing happened.

MakeItRain · 26/06/2020 21:23

I think schools probably shouldn't go back and that our cases are rising. But I think they will all go back. Where I work we're expecting all children back (primary) and classes to operate in separate "bubbles" of 30. (No assemblies/whole school play time etc). I think no matter what happens (cases rising etc), schools will go back like this.

funinthesun19 · 26/06/2020 21:25

Oh god I hope you’re wrong Sad

wanderings · 26/06/2020 21:27

I'm sure the grand plan is:

31st August: scrap social distancing, without telling anyone before this date, including the schools.
1st September: schools fully back.

Yep ^

Honestly, I think there will be riots if all children are not offered at least part time face-to-face (although I hope for full time) education in school. The current situation is unsustainable.

Bollss · 26/06/2020 21:28

Easter 2021? Never. They will have been off over a year. Ridiculous and unnecessary.

Yobeans · 26/06/2020 21:30

They will be back, whether it's 'safe' or not is another issue.

Norabird · 26/06/2020 21:36

I think they will. Whether they should or not is an entirely different matter and only time will tell.

I predict that we will be told to continue operating bubbles, but that the bubbles can be increased in size to 30 and no need to have physical distance within the bubble. It will mean children being taught in their classrooms with specialist teachers coming to them rather than the children being moved around the school. No assemblies, lunches in classrooms, staggered start and finish/break/lunch times.

Years 10-13 may continue with online learning with the option to sit in school in a classroom to do it if there are issues with access at home.

Dogsaresomucheasier · 26/06/2020 21:46

I think schools will go back in September and then have 2 week closures to various sub groups when someone tests positive. It will be carnage. Next years GCSEs will be meaningless. There will be civil unrest by the late Autumn.

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 26/06/2020 21:48

As a PP said, if they can go to the beach, they can go to school. YABU.

Chocolatecake12 · 26/06/2020 21:49

I do hope you’re wrong.

@Reallyhow122

Eh? What has going to the beach for a few hours got to do with running a school?

Please explain how the two are in any way connected?

SodOffCovid · 26/06/2020 21:52

This topic has been done eleven million times already
YABU. Unless there is a second peak the kids are going back

SockYarn · 26/06/2020 21:52

Fuck me, have you lot been on the gin?

Civil unrest and no school until Easter? Any advance on next Easter? Christmas 2022 perhaps with martial law imposed by Halloween for good measure?

TerrapinStation · 26/06/2020 21:54

But maybe not by someone of such great insight as the OP who so cleverly predicted the future previously, we should all now take note Grin
MarshaBradyo · 26/06/2020 21:55

September for all children was Johnson’s second announcement. Better stick this time.

cardibach · 26/06/2020 21:56

@Norabird that’ll work well for science, music, pe, art, technology and probably a few other things I haven’t thought of...
What about setting?
It’s not tenable. At secondary they have to be able to move or it’s not an education worth having. And for passing exams, Y10-13 need teachers. Remote learning is better than nothing g but won’t get people through exams.

cardibach · 26/06/2020 21:57

Johnson announces whatever he thinks will make him popular. When it hits reality, it tends to be dropped.
MarshaBradyo · 26/06/2020 21:58

I know he’s as reliable as an old banger 😫

I’m willing him to not drop this one.

Justtakeatowel · 26/06/2020 22:00

We'll be back!
