I'm mean, yes I want things back to normal BUT I am still concerned in case we get a spike again. I agree we all need to be careful BUT clearly all these people just thought F* it.
All we've put up with so far with lock down and it seems every one on the beach in question decided to piss it into the wind.

If I were the government I would think I couldn't trust people to use sense at all and put lockdown back in place until either a vaccination or until people realised that if they want lockdown relaxed then they need to prove they can be trusted to show a bit of caution.

Rant over.

YABU - I am a big fan of herd immunity, clearly I am not alone

This is the best time for a second wave - most hospitals have plenty of capacity.
Vaccine is not going to be a solution. It will be like with flu.

Sparklesocks · 25/06/2020 22:24

Do you mean Bournemouth?

madcatladyforever · 25/06/2020 22:26

I have the rage - I'm trying to to think about it because I need to go to sleep. Thinking about all of the Thursday clapping for the NHS then people do this.
Let bloody COVID spread until it kills everyone off. The human race deserves to die.

Janaih · 25/06/2020 22:26

This much promised second wave has been coming for weeks, if not months now...

Agree the scenes are not pretty, but what did they expect on the hottest day of the year with nothing else open?

So what about those of us that have been shielding due to being high risk? Do we not get a chance of a life that everyone else has had? The option to go back to work, to see friends?

Should we spend all our lives indoors then so you can all get 'herd immunity'?

Rosehip345 · 25/06/2020 22:27

They’re idiots.
But I think the government can’t afford to keep everything locked down and are willing to sacrifice the old and vulnerable, especially if they put themselves in harms way.

Notcontent · 25/06/2020 22:28

I think leaving the risk of Covid-19 aside, what is really shocking is how this current situation is bringing out the worst in people. Really horrible, anti social behaviour everywhere.

Milssofadoesntreallyfit · 25/06/2020 22:28

Don't get me wrong I do agree with the theory behind herd immunity but there has been quite an impact on NHS even with lockdown, so it does need to be managed a bit, hence lockdown in the foray place.
The gradual reduction of lockdown may allow this to happen at a pace which us manageable to NHS etc.

I've also realised in a lighter note that my phone autocorrects lockdown as lick down.....

Yes, Bournemouth

I hope that if there is a second peak it’s these arseholes people get furious at and not BLM protestors.

Milssofadoesntreallyfit · 25/06/2020 22:30

First place not foray place!!!

Yes, even without Covid I thought it looked grim - apparently the roads were completely gridlocked and people could barely move. Sounds like a horrible afternoon, beach or not.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 25/06/2020 22:31

There was a 200 strong brawl in Exmouth recently too. What is wrong with people

SummerHouse · 25/06/2020 22:32

YANBU pissing into the wind is frowned upon at the best of times but now? They will be spraying each other in covid.

pilates · 25/06/2020 22:32

It’s shameful and depressing

HollyBollyBooBoo · 25/06/2020 22:34

@Janaih Eh? A second wave predicted for months? We're only just coming out of the first wave! Don't you see the graphs in the news?

Milssofadoesntreallyfit · 25/06/2020 22:34

Husband has just wondered about what folk will be like when pubs open.......
Imagine the it being booze fueled!!!!

I think I might hibernate until everyone gets it out of their system!!!!

People are stupid yes, but this is entirely, 100%, the fault of the conservative government. They want people to start moving about and spending money. They have actively encouraged this. The communication about the easing of lockdown has been leading people to do this sort of shit. And it absolutely has shown how pathetic Britain is compared to other countries. Lager fuelled thugs taking their families to the beach, getting trashed, shitting in car parks and having a punch up. Its embarrassing.

BogRollBOGOF · 25/06/2020 22:37

The absence of other leisure activities and having to day trip rather than stay in accommodation has significantly aggravated the numbers congregating and traffic congestion. Plus easing lock down means more people working and less people hanging around bored of 3 months of groundhog day.

The less you let people do, the more they will turn up in the same permitted cluster of locations.

(No I'm not going to a beach until I can stay near one because I wouldn't get pleasure from hours of travel and congestion to end up on a packed beach with few facilities, but I can see why this is happening).

Flyingunicornsmyass · 25/06/2020 22:37

We live in a seaside town, for the past 2 days we've been unable to go out for exercise where we live because of the crowds and increased accidents, not to mention the brawl of 12 people arrested last week. I've lived by the sea for years, it's busier at the moment than every other summer I've lived here. 280 people died in a single day last week, I am sick to the back teeth of the 'it's in the guidelines' logic whilst ignoring how much common sense seems to be lacking.

Ohffs66 · 25/06/2020 22:40

Hundreds of people and a mass brawl going on on a beach in South Wales tonight, the pictures and videos I've seen shared are horrifying. Locals can't get out of their streets for all the traffic, people driving drunk, just not enough police to control it. Absolute carnage.

I’ll bet folk will be well chuffed to know that there’s plenty of beds and ventilators available when they’ve caught the virus due to people’s stupidity.
LockdownHairdo · 25/06/2020 22:41

The point about herd immunity is it doesn’t work unless we have an effective vaccine because you can get Covid-19 more than once. Also Covid-19 damages your health in the long term for a lot of people. Anyone thinking we can rely on herd immunity needs to give their head a wobble.
