To ask how often you replace your rug

Just that really. Do you think it's reasonable to replace a living room rug after a year or would you keep it for a few years? Does the colour make a difference? How long have you had your current rug?

You can rent an industrial carpet cleaner here for 20-30 pounds a day. have a look online. But you have to clean it yourself. shouldn't take long and the videos online make it look so satisfying.
you can also clean sofas and fabric dining chairs too. looks really easy and very cheap

Ps I brought my living room rug 8 years ago and its still going strong. I would never buy light colours though. I do have a bigcrease going up it thats getting worse, so if anyone has any tips I'd really appreciate it!

We've had ours 20 years. I wash it once or twice a year with the carpet washer. Amazing how much dirt comes out!

I clean mine with the carpet cleaner ! It costs hundreds of pounds so why would I throw it away !

I currently think you're massively unreasonable. That's largely though because this thread reminded me I was looking for a new rug, which led me to a new tv stand, further sideboards and a new coffee table.

I am now skint (but happy about new storage)
