To feel sorry for woman who believe their lip fillers make them more attractive??

It’s not really AIBU as it’s my opinion but anyway...

I was at work yesterday and a young woman came in and clear as day had lip fillers. I was looking thinking , I can not understand why people pay to have this done. It looks awful.

You can tell straight away that they’ve had fillers

I assume slightly enhancing them can be a positive in some cases, but some just go too far until they look like comedy lips and over do it.

I was just looking thinking, I bet that woman looked more appealing and attractive to the average person with her own, natural lips!

I felt sorry for her that she was thinking that would make her more attractive....

I dread my DD growing up seeing these imagines and finding them beautiful.

Starcup
're your response to lyinwichin

Well you are judging other women and how they look. I agree with Lyinwichin and she is not as you say ' passive aggressive' but just very perceptive as to the motives of your post!

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe

Totally agree with you.

Considering I was bullied at school for the size of my lips (which tbh are not as big as, say Angelina jolie) I can't understand the fascination. Although I'm pleased with the fact that is one part of my body that doesn't need surgery Wink

MrsA2017 · 13/06/2020 20:04

I think “beauty enhancements” of all kinds are on a scale.... you’ve got a basic haircut at one end and full cosmetic surgery at the other. I might hate someones haircut, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have had it and I feel the same about anything on the scale.

I had a nose job and it was the single best thing I have ever done for myself.

I’m sure some of it is trend-led, and some women may look back and regret having a procedure performed - but that doesn’t make them silly, stupid or requiring sympathy in my opinion.

And just to join in....

Filler or no filler?

Personally I think no filler, but either way they look very nice.
Jezebel101 · 13/06/2020 20:06

Agree with LyinWitchen

If saying I feel sorry for people who get fillers, they're supposed to look better but they look horrid isn't bitchy, then bitchy isn't what it used to be.

And besides, it rarely really does look horrid, even if a bit over done. It just looks different. I don't care what anyone has done if it makes them happy, they certainly don't need my pity.

Jezebel101 · 13/06/2020 20:08

MrsA2017 - a little filler on the top lip? If so you have lovely lips. If not, you still have lovely lips!

U2HasTheEdge · 13/06/2020 20:11

Quit with the faux concern. If you want to talk about how crap some women look with lip fillers then just own that.

We all know women are under a lot of pressure to look a certain way. It is nothing new unfortunately. There is no genuine concern in your posts at all, anyone with a bit of sense can see that.

Starcup · 13/06/2020 21:12

I would be interested to see if there’s any correlation between the posters on this thread stating how revolting, ugly, unattractive lip fillers are and the type of woman who has made similar comments about me at various points during my life despite the fact my lips are totally natural.

ShebaShimmyShake · 13/06/2020 21:24

I think if someone makes a nasty comment about your lips, the only response is to go full Heath Ledger. "Why so serious???"

HotSince82 · 13/06/2020 21:25

@ShebaShimmyShake noted! Grin

Starcup · 13/06/2020 21:26

In what way? Why have people made comments about you in the past? @FatalSecrets

OP posts:
FelicisNox · 13/06/2020 21:26

YABU and judgemental.

The majority of women who have over filled lips didn't ask for that when they walked into the clinic. They wanted a subtle enhancement and have clearly fallen victim to unscrupulous clinicians.... no one chooses to look like a clown.

Is it a shame that society has been driven to this due to doctored media images and bullying? Of course.

Does that give you the right to look down your nose and pity people who don't need or want your pity? Hell no.

FatalSecrets · 13/06/2020 21:32

In what way? Why have people made comments about you in the past?

Why....? Why do women make comments about other women? Take a look at this thread Confused

Usually along the lines of “ugh, I would never have my lips done” and “did you ask for your lips to be so full” was a highlight.

@Felicis

Well that’s strange because some pp were saying that ‘that look’ for lip fillers the OTT ones are actually considered desirable.

In the same way that false boobs can look totally false but that is the intention- some people actively seek that look.

Some people were saying it’s almost like a status symbol to shoe wealth as it’s obviously not cheap

@Starcup

What is your aim from this thread, honestly?

You don't like fake looking lip fillers. So what? Don't get them and find something interesting enough to occupy your time instead of bitching about those who do.

Starcup · 13/06/2020 21:39

@FatalSecrets

Well you made a statement suggesting that people who think that the OTT look lip fillers don’t look as attractive as what a persons normal lips would look, makes them the sort of people that would judge everyone for everyone.

They mane a choice to do that. Wearing glasses for example isn’t a choice or having extra large teeth. So someone mocking someone based on this is absolutely awful.

Don’t confuse this with people choosing to follow a fashion trend and some people saying they can’t understand why.....

Yesmate · 13/06/2020 21:40

OP how can you possibly now what the majority of women wanted when they walked in to the clinic? What study is this from? Where are the results?!

2007Millie · 13/06/2020 21:40

@Starcup

Well you absolutely did not answer my question there in any way. Good avoidance.

Starcup · 13/06/2020 21:41

@2007Millie

Same as you Millie. I’m defending my right to have an opinion without 6/7 people who don’t agree tearing it to shreds 😀

OP posts:
FatalSecrets · 13/06/2020 21:42

Starcup you’re missing my point entirely

My point is that I have had comments made about my lips by people who have assumed I have had fillers. I’m quite sure they pat themselves on the back as the “I can always tell type and yet I have never had fillers, it’s just how my lips are naturally.

But might be worth Those people considering just for a moment that maybe you can’t always tell and is it really an attractive part of your character to make such comments to people?

Maybe not quite the level of superiority they are hoping for.

2007Millie · 13/06/2020 21:42

@Starcup

I actually cannot even figure out what you're trying to say Hmm

Starcup · 13/06/2020 21:43

@Yesmate

Oh I don’t I or what they ask for, I don’t/can’t proclaim I do.

I was simply pointing out that there is an look’ that certain people want to achieve and actively ask for. Not suited how true it is...
