Because there is literally nothing else to do?

I am very lucky. Got a secure job, roof over my head, family safe and well etc. I shouldn't moan.

But everything that gives life salt, spice, flavour has been taken away and it is so depressing.

I want everyone to be safe , I have followed all the rules . I think the only answer is a time machine!

I am just so sad. I don't know how we will ever regain normal.

“You nearly exactly what I meant, but as you are choosing to be pedantic would property suit you better“

“To be fair I read it the same way and thought you'd kept them indoors since March 20th”

Yes, I thought that too. Poster said "They have not left the house once since March 20th". Huge sympathy for health issues and hope they stay safe and well, but it wasn't clear that the children had been able to go in the garden‘“

I’m the same, and read it that the children hadn’t been allowed to leave their house for 12 weeks.

If I’M bored with the same old walks, I can only imagine how the family must feel. I would wonder if it’s absolutely not safe to go outside at any time of day, no matter how empty the streets or field or park, to give the children some stimulus and lift? Obviously that’s a risk assessment that will already have been made and it must be tough for all concerned. I hope there will soon be some light at the end of this long tunnel.

To the OP - I’ve been okay with the walks up until today when I came home and said how utterly bored I was of my area! I think we’ve walked every inch of it, explored every trail and wood which have been lovely but now...I do think early spring is an interesting time to start walking as so much changes in nature but I’m finding it less so now.

We did go on a near-empty train to a local coastal town this week, taking all precautions and that was nice. The loos everywhere were open and few people were around

I now love going for a walk, which I didn't before. I am lucky enough to live opposite a golf course and it is like stepping into the countryside, the birds sound amazing, and the lake and the ducks never fail to enchant me. It is my gateway out of the prison of being stuck at home / WFH as a vulnerable person. I have also discovered the joy of walking listening to an audio book, another form of escape. I plan to keep these walks up long term Smile

I got up at 4 and went up the mountain to see the sunrise. Absolutely stunning. 🌄

lilgreen · 13/06/2020 08:40

Don’t have a local mountain.lucky you.

Ghostlyglow · 13/06/2020 08:45

YANBU. I used to love going for a walk. Sick to bloody death of it now.

Bargainhuntbore · 13/06/2020 08:55

@lilgreen i feel for those not having access to what is out there. Im so lucky to have access to it without having to travel. Time will come.

lilgreen · 13/06/2020 09:04

I do have access to lots of lovely parks and a nature reserve park within 5 mins walk so I’m lucky compared to some but would love to be able to see mountains or the coast on my daily dog walks.

So today I did something new, something I've not done since lockdown started... I went on yet another blooming walk.

I'm so bored of all the areas near me in walking distance its getting very monotonous and samey and without access to a car it's really limiting where I can go.

I know there are worse things to moan about and it's very self indulgent. I think it would be easier if I could see something new or if there was purpose to the walks but nope its either the same scenery or staying indoors.

Gwenhwyfar · 13/06/2020 17:15

Totally agree Tiny. There's just nothing to look forward to is there.

TazSyd · 13/06/2020 17:49

I’m feeling pretty down about it all today too. Holidays cancelled, working from home for 3 months now. No cinema, or museums to go to. It’s just monotonous isn’t it.

MsTSwift · 13/06/2020 17:52

We have switched to tennis. Kids 12 and 14 we aren’t great but can have a knock about and at least more interesting than yet another walk

Andwoooshtheyweregone · 13/06/2020 18:03

I find I’m waking in a bad mood as it’s just more of the same

TazSyd · 13/06/2020 18:20

Shopping isn’t normally something we do for fun but I’m thinking of taking DD out for a trip to the local shopping mall, when it reopens next week. Just to break the monotony.

Now that we are allowed to do other things I have 2 friends that still just want to go for walks all the time.

I'm spending this weekend with people who are happy with having a coffee or drink or 2 out instead. I understand caution but also fed up with these friends thinking it is ok for them to basically say a walk or nothing. Maybe I'm being unreasonable but these are not people living with vulnerable people or anything like that.
