Because there is literally nothing else to do?

I am very lucky. Got a secure job, roof over my head, family safe and well etc. I shouldn't moan.

But everything that gives life salt, spice, flavour has been taken away and it is so depressing.

I want everyone to be safe , I have followed all the rules . I think the only answer is a time machine!

I am just so sad. I don't know how we will ever regain normal.

It really doesn't bother me. I go for walks from time to time. Mostly I just stay in. I like being at home. I am fine with it.

Lovemusic33 · 07/06/2020 16:20

I’m bored of walking too and I usually walk a lot, I miss the gym and pool ,doing the same exercise every day gets a bit tedious.

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/06/2020 16:20

I miss swimming. It was a regular Sunday thing for the family and even though we had to travel to the nearest pool (our local one has been closed for a year for a major refurbishment) it was a constant fixture in our weekend.
Some locals have been river swimming, but although I enjoy it I'm not a strong swimmer.

SockYarn · 07/06/2020 16:23

Honestly, @ToothFairyNemesis, I couldn't care less. As the saying goes, you do you. Take whatever advice you want, I really don't care.

But why you feel the need to pop up on a thread about people being bored going for a walk with your wee post about "Well WE haven't left the house since March 20th" as if you expect lots of gushing responses about how brave and stunning you are beats me.

And yes OP, going for a walk is fine. If you have the choice of a lots of other things to do and can consider it among a range of options. At the moment it's the ONLY thing to do outside and it's dull.

LoveBeingAMum555 · 07/06/2020 16:27

It's strange how much you miss things that you didn't appreciate at the time! We would go for a long cycle ride on a weekend with a cafe stop, or a long walk with a pub stop, it made it feel like a real treat and its not the same without it. I am also sick of the same places, we live in a tourist area so a lot of places are busy even during the week.

CoronaIsComing · 07/06/2020 16:27

I can’t remember who wondered how many people will move areas after lockdown but we already have 😂. At least we can now go for a walk without coming back stoned from all the week that was floating out of every other house 🤨

CoronaIsComing · 07/06/2020 16:27

*weed obviously!

Rosebel · 07/06/2020 16:31

At least you can go for a walk. Both my midwife and GP have advised against it. I'd love to out, not much fun in our shoe box garden. I'm sick of the same 4 walls, sick of nagging my children to do their school work, sick of tv and internet. Even fed up of reading and writing. Need a break from my family. I wish it was all over.

crimsonlake · 07/06/2020 16:37

I might be odd but I do not understand all the people who are suddenly walking who never bothered before?
Admittedly I still go out to work 4 days a week but on the days I am home I do not get the urge to suddenly take up walking.

Sparklesocks · 07/06/2020 16:39

@crimsonlake well if you can’t go to most shops, sit in cafes or restaurants, go to gyms, go to pubs, go to the cinema, go bowling, travel, stay in a hotel/spa for the weekend, go to parties, see more than a handful of friends and family at a time (and not outside)...what else is there to do for leisure?

Sparklesocks · 07/06/2020 16:39

*not inside

borntohula · 07/06/2020 16:40

I know what you mean. I have a very active DS with ASD so I've been walking all over the place with him (thank goodness he's still at school part time. I've suggested my slightly older DS takes his camera so we can at least look for interesting stuff to photograph.

Sadbridetobe · 07/06/2020 16:41

What a strange thing to say Crimson.

OscarWildesCat · 07/06/2020 16:41

YABU, me too, a walk with a pub or 2 along the way is one thing, a walk around the housing estate I live on, not so much 😴

ssd · 07/06/2020 16:41

I'm sick of walking around too.

I want a mooch through the shops and a coffee with a friend.
I want dinner out somewhere cozy.
I want to treat my kids so they can have a night out with their pals.

I want my old boring life back. Now.

Incrediblytired · 07/06/2020 16:42

Welllll... you can be bored and that’s not unreasonable.

I’m a walker and I’m sooooo sick of all my favourite places being full of people who aren’t usually walkers....

Alsohuman · 07/06/2020 16:43

Delighted to hear so many people are finally tired of going for walks. Please stay at home so we can have our dog walking areas back.

SockYarn · 07/06/2020 16:43

I do not understand all the people who are suddenly walking who never bothered before?

I think it's people who used to go swimming, to the gym, a pilates or zumba class or to something like Parkrun. Everything closed, if you want to be active it's pretty much all you can do.

ssd · 07/06/2020 16:44

Where have you been living, the moon?!?

Thousands of people are furloughed and are walking to get exercise, help their mental health and just get bloody out the house.

Ickabog · 07/06/2020 16:44

I want my old boring life back. Now.

This situation has made me realise that what I thought was a boring mundane life was nothing of the sort. It's crazy how much I took for granted. Sad

Distiller91 · 07/06/2020 16:44

I go walking twice a day with my two year old. I think he is getting just as fed up as I am now. We don't have a garden, obviously there's no nursery or playgroups so really it's all we can do. He's really not done bad at all with the social distancing aspect so I'm very proud of him for that

Sparklesocks · 07/06/2020 16:47

I would love to have a mooch around the (non food) shops (actually taking time to look at things), stop and have a coffee and read my book - maybe a spot of lunch and then text DP on the way home to see if he fancies going out for a drink later, or trying the new Italian which opened recently. Sigh. A different world.

ssd · 07/06/2020 16:47

Jesus listen to some of you... The nerve of people wanting to go a walk, don't we realise there's walkers there already or dogs who want to sniff other dogs arses wandering around?

Sheesh we should all stay in then.

BogRollBOGOF · 07/06/2020 16:47

I haven't been for a run since last Monday and that didn't hit the spot.

I've been walking most days with the DCs mainly motivated by the thought of what a foul mood they will be in the next day if they don't get out.

Mojo is gone.
I don't want to battle with parking at a beauty spot.
There's some lovely parks, but paflocked playgrounds cut out a lot of the attraction.
Not motivated to book a walk at the National Trust well on advance.
Bored.

Going for a walk in 15 mins. Yey.

Well you've answered your own question there haven't you. If you were at home 7 days a week and the only time you were allowed out (up until last week) was to go to the supermarket or out for a walk, you might have found yourself going for the odd walk too.

I used to go for an occasional walk before all this, but usually with a shop or pub at the end of it! Now that its just literally wandering aimlessly its lost a bit of the appeal, and I've seen more than enough of my local area, as beautiful as it is.

Glad we can finally go a bit further afield for a walk, but not when there are moany bastards like some of these, wishing we'd all go home so they can have their woods and country parks back to themselves. Think yourselves lucky that you live somewhere that others would travel to be. Imagine what their lives must be like living in a built up area or somewhere that traffic makes walking with kids unpleasant and dangerous.
