Because there is literally nothing else to do?

I am very lucky. Got a secure job, roof over my head, family safe and well etc. I shouldn't moan.

But everything that gives life salt, spice, flavour has been taken away and it is so depressing.

I want everyone to be safe , I have followed all the rules . I think the only answer is a time machine!

I am just so sad. I don't know how we will ever regain normal.

OP posts:
northernlittledonkey · 07/06/2020 14:47

I hate walking with a passion, always have even as a child. Love cycling though, especially at the moment, I go out for an hour most days. Really miss swimming.

northernlittledonkey · 07/06/2020 14:47

A museum, that’d be ace!

SoftSheen · 07/06/2020 14:49

We have been attempting some tennis on the public courts. We're not very good, but it makes a change and is lots of fun.

GaspingGekko · 07/06/2020 14:50

It's over 40C here at the moment, I would love to go for a walk.

Home schooling keeps us busy through the day at the moment, but in 3 weeks time we will have 8 weeks of summer holidays. I honestly have no idea what we will do.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 07/06/2020 14:51

I’m bored of walks too then I think of what it would be like if we couldn’t walk outside, then I’m thankful again.
It’s like medicine now - not much appeal but necessary for the benefits.
I’m waiting for the rain to stop so I can take dc out for a quick walk. Ive promised them cake and tea/hot choc when we get back as they’ve lost all enthusiasm too.

ToothFairyNemesis · 07/06/2020 14:51

I think you are being a bit unreasonable I would love to take my dc for a walk in the woods or a run on the beach like their friends are on social media.
They have not left the house once since March 20th.

deplorabelle · 07/06/2020 14:53

I've been shielding so I'm not sick of walks yet - shielded have only just lately been allowed out lately.

I do sympathise though OP. I think it helps to have a project on the go. I've been learning a language and overhauling my garden. Thinking of getting out musical instruments and trying to remember how to play them.

Try not to dwell on what you can't do, it'll only make you sad

Cornettoninja · 07/06/2020 14:53

@dillite I sympathise. We went out for about six hours yesterday (drove to a scenic location with lots of park space and a river for a picnic and to play some ball games) and though it was lovely I purposefully didn’t drink anything because my bladder just can’t take it. It’s was a great day but it did make it slightly uncomfortable.

Cornettoninja · 07/06/2020 14:55

Has anyone tried pokemon go or geocaching to liven it up a bit? (No idea whether ‘lively’ is the right word - I’ve never played them!)

Ickabog · 07/06/2020 14:56

Totally bored of the same walks here too, i'm another who would really love to go swimming, or for a walk round the zoo or a museum.

I saw a heron on a walk the other day, and it was the highlight of my day. I realise that makes me sound very sad Grin

pigsDOfly · 07/06/2020 14:58

Wonder how many will move house just to get away from a neighbourhood they're now sick of looking at

Seriously considering this.

I love walking normally but I'm just fed up with the same thing day in day out.

I walk with my dog and to make it worse she will sit down and refuse to move if I try to deviate from the one or two walks that she like to take so I'm pretty stuck.

I have, in the past, driven to different places for walks only have her sit down and refuse to move.

If I move house she'll have to get used to new places, that's my plan anyway.

I've actually taken to trawling rightmove.

schoolsoutforcovid · 07/06/2020 15:01

Rollerblading 😂

Oilyoilyoilgob · 07/06/2020 15:01

I loooove walking but I really want to have the option of stopping somewhere to eat/drink after it. Like a lovely home cooked Sunday dinner with a log fire burning, I miss our past life Sundays 😩

schoolsoutforcovid · 07/06/2020 15:02

"Home schooling keeps us busy through the day at the moment, but in 3 weeks time we will have 8 weeks of summer holidays. I honestly have no idea what we will do."

Carry on homeschooling seems the obvious solution

DarkDarkNight · 07/06/2020 15:02

Same. I live in a gorgeous part of the country but as I don’t drive can’t get to the beautiful countryside as it’s only accessible by car.

I’m so fed up of doing the same route.

dudsville · 07/06/2020 15:04

I'm enjoying walking but I am also bored. The next thing I have to look forward to today is a bath later. Woop Woop! A bath! Yay!!!! It's getting dull.

EmbarrassedUser · 07/06/2020 15:06

Another one bored with walks. Did manage to find a new one this week though 🎉🎉 Also, there’s a really nice restaurant doing takeaway near us and you can sit by the water outside and eat it which we did. With a cider! Highlight of our annual leave which is sad!

Lifeaback · 07/06/2020 15:06

Couldn’t agree more OP I’m fed up. I’ve always hated walking without purpose. We live in London so are limited to our local parks- all of which are lovely but not lovely enough to enjoy when it’s the same thing every day!

I would love to pack the kids up and drive somewhere nicer for a different walk but public toilets being shut makes the idea too stressful

CremeEggThief · 07/06/2020 15:07

I'm lucky enough to have several nice walks of varying lengths near where I live and I really believe in the power of a good walk to lift the spirits and blow the cobwebs away (lifetime of living with low-level depression), but even I was bored and uninspired by any walk when I went out earlier today.

Twigletgirl27 · 07/06/2020 15:08

I said exactly the same today and I live in a lovely part of the countryside. But like many we're staying close to home so same scenery day after day. I'd love to visit coast which is about 40 minutes away but up till now haven't felt comfortable doing that, and also no toilets!

ThisShitDontMatter · 07/06/2020 15:10

Yep same here but in Scotland they have closed roads so you cant go to places - its utterly draining and depressing. There was no point in easing anything really if they are going to be like this! Oh but wait, they went out their way to close roads to beauty spots BUT for a Black Lives Matter protest they didnt close the space planned to do it! Im not against BLM before anybody suggests so.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 07/06/2020 15:10

Same

hammeringinmyhead · 07/06/2020 15:10

Ugh, yes. I've got a 5k loop I do with the toddler. My problem is I live near lots of places that everyone else also likes to walk around so if I drove to Shearwater for example I'd not get a parking space, let alone be able to social distance. I tried a local Woodland Trust place and the car park was sealed shut.

BendingSpoons · 07/06/2020 15:11

YANBU. We have a 1yo and 4yo so we can't walk that far. At the start of lockdown I was enjoying exploring local places more and grateful to have one particular place near us that the kids love. Now I can hardly bear to go on a walk there. Although we did today because I needed a change from Playmobil. I know we can drive somewhere else but we can't go far with no toilets and the nicer places are often pretty busy. I know I am moaning and having read other things I am grateful for what we have, and probably need to be more so.

Alyssum34456 · 07/06/2020 15:11

Walks in general are great. Walking close to home and constantly dodging people is boring and anxiety making.

I long for when we can walk properly, walks where you can go for miles and then stop off in a local pub for a pint of lemonade and a decent toilet.
