Because there is literally nothing else to do?

I am very lucky. Got a secure job, roof over my head, family safe and well etc. I shouldn't moan.

But everything that gives life salt, spice, flavour has been taken away and it is so depressing.

I want everyone to be safe , I have followed all the rules . I think the only answer is a time machine!

I am just so sad. I don't know how we will ever regain normal.

I have just come back from a walk around a reservoir I have never walked round before.

The joy of walking somewhere different has made my day.

Thaddit · 07/06/2020 18:44

I was planning a walk this evening but have just seen online that someone has been stabbed in the face nearby. They have been taken off by air ambulance and there are police everywhere. I will have some supper and an early night instead. Killing Eve is on so will watch that later.

Ginfordinner · 07/06/2020 18:46

Goodness. I hope they are OK.

I have given up on Killing Eve. I watched the first three episodes of this series and got bored.

Alsohuman · 07/06/2020 19:00

That’s horrible Thaddit. I’ve just walked the dog and it was lovely. It’s chilly, grey and damp so everyone else stayed at home.

Figgygal · 07/06/2020 19:06

Same
Very lucky, following the rules, staying safe but my god we have explored every inch of our village and I’m sick of the sight of it

We do now go to village football club with kites and frisbees to break it up. Eldest ds is obsessed with Pokemon again so he’s happy walking about but the stopping and starting every 2 minutes drives me bonkers

zingally · 07/06/2020 19:17

hand up I'm sick of walks!

To be fair, I had a walk every single day of lock-down for 7 weeks solid. But then they just trailed off all together. I didn't go for a walk at all last week, and honestly didn't even think of it until now!

CowCuddler · 08/06/2020 17:40

I'm sick of people going for walks in my village and parking outside my house, meaning that I can't park there after work.

Walking isn't compulsory. If you're sick of it stay at home.

I've confirmed what I suspected all along: I could happily be a hermit, I don't like people or going anywhere. I love being at home and am sad that things are starting to get back to normal though obviously it has to at some point.

Lilemmi · 08/06/2020 17:54

We are shielded, id love a walk out! Being stuck in the house since March is hard. I know we are allowed out for 1 hour now but theres a lot of people about here and we live in a highly affected area.

totalinsomniac · 08/06/2020 18:05

I hear you OP!! Milestone birthday at the weekend. My family made the best of it and it was lovely but I want to go to the pub 😂😂

Stumpie222 · 08/06/2020 18:30

SO bored with “going for a walk” but feel guilty saying this as I know the pressure younger people are under with home schooling/working from home. Relief to own up though and hear so many in agreement. A walk is only worth it for the reward of a pint/ coffee/cake

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 08/06/2020 18:32

There are beauty spots that are providing public toilets but I'm considering buying a shewee

Waitaway1970 · 08/06/2020 18:44

Wish I could go for a walk. 100 days of isolation - supermarket visit once a month/ that’s it. No other stepping outdoors at all. Wish I could go for a run or a walk. Even more would be fab to eat out.

myblackboots · 08/06/2020 19:11

Why not go for a short drive and try a new walk? We go out around 5pm when most people are heading home so beauty spots aren’t crowded. Take a picnic. Or meet up with a mate in their garden - or local park - take your own drink and have a socially distanced natter. Anything to break the monotony.

Itsalwayshard · 08/06/2020 19:25

Try shielding, I'm so glad of a walk now I'm allowed 😊.

Harls1969 · 08/06/2020 19:41

I've really enjoyed walking, seeing the wildlife and being in the fresh air. But...I'm sick of 'around here'! I live in a residential area and it's boring to walk through that and the more commercial and industrial areas to get to anywhere pretty. Actually, it's not walking there...it's knowing we'll have to bloody walk back through it to get home! I'm so glad we can now get in the car and drive closer to the river/green spaces (we don't go to any of the popular tourist spots before someone gets on their high horse!)

Luddite26 · 08/06/2020 20:24

I'm sick of all the economic turmoil and life on hold for everyone and for kids.
But I did vow 10 years ago when my son became paralysed at 18 that I would never take walking or having to get off the settee to find the remote for granted again. I would give anything for him to walk through the door. I think so many people with children in wheelchairs or in wheelchairs themselves would love to go for a walk every day forever and ever with their kids. X

OneKeyAtATime · 08/06/2020 20:39

We alternate between walking, running, cycling and playing football. It s been ok so far but the weather is turning bad ..

ifonly4 · 08/06/2020 20:44

Obviously I wouldn't say no to a meal out, but at the same time I appreciate the fact that we've been able to go out unlike those shielding and company which some of the elderly haven't had for weeks. We've been walking all ways and found lots of streets/country pathways we didn't know existed. I'm trying to focus on what I can do, not what I can't.

laughingnow · 08/06/2020 21:06

Well this thread prompted me to get off the sofa. On my walk I just saw 2 foxes, 2 deer, about 20 bunnies, a swan, a grey heron, loads of swifts, some parakeets and 2 joggers. Also one aeroplane - quite a rarity - and all within a few hundred yards of the M25. I’m so pleased not to find that boring.

JFM27 · 09/06/2020 00:40

I live fairly near my city centre so i do walk in there to M&S twice a week for a change as did today, and i got 2 pairs of boots in their sale, its a big store with sale stuff on ground floor, for a ridiculous price. Also the shops seem to be gettting ready to open up and city at last seems to be coming to life slightly which was encouraging., as shops opening next week. But as same as many of you the loo situation concerns me.Stores opening next week fine but most of them are still closing loos,Well im sorry but if they want customers they will have to open loos, with all this queueing etc people will need facilities. As i live so near city i can walk in,shop get bus home in 5 to 10 min so im not too bad, though i try and avoid drinking.Same as if pub gardens open they will have to have some kind of loo arrangement.People cant drink and not need the loo.i see no reason not to open them if they are cleaned regularly and bleach etc is used.Otherwise im afraid customers will be thin on ground.

amispeakingenglish · 09/06/2020 08:57

I miss swimming

TazSyd · 09/06/2020 12:48

I also miss swimming @amispeakingenglish, along with body balance. YouTube yoga just isn’t the same.

newnamefornow2020 · 12/06/2020 21:22

I have ME and I'm sick of not being able to do anything. After a post-covid relapse I can't walk more than about 500m and there's nothing else to do! I could go out in my wheelchair but just being pushed round the local neighbourhood doesn't seem that exciting! So I switch from sofa to garden depending on weather. I had a week off work last week and I'm thoroughly sick of people asking me if I 'went on any nice walks'.

Tomorrowsanewday · 12/06/2020 21:30

I said exactly this to my friend yesterday, who I’d met for a socially distanced walk Grin

I like walking usually, but I think it’s different deciding to go for a walk because you want to and going for a walk because unless you want to sit at home 24-7 it’s the only option of exercise and fresh air you have.

I’ve never seen so many joggers. It’s great they are making the effort but I wonder how many will keep it up after lockdown lifts.

AlCalavicci · 12/06/2020 21:47

Some of my friends have been doing 'walk swaps'
they all live within about 10 miles of each other and drive , once they got fed up of walking round there own areas the swapped with some one else . Then after a while that got boring to so now they hide little treasures for each other things like a odd shaped pebble , a piece of fruit / veg , chalk mark , etc ( nothing that will do any harm it it is not found ) and send each other text clues and hunt for them , great with or without DCs apparently.
If you dont have anyone else to do it your DP could hide something for you to find and vise versa
