Because there is literally nothing else to do?

I am very lucky. Got a secure job, roof over my head, family safe and well etc. I shouldn't moan.

But everything that gives life salt, spice, flavour has been taken away and it is so depressing.

I want everyone to be safe , I have followed all the rules . I think the only answer is a time machine!

I am just so sad. I don't know how we will ever regain normal.

Yes I'm with you. Walks are too much of a ballache when you've got 3 kids under 5, so you've got to take a buggy and all the food and snacks you need as nothing is open.

It's not worth the hassle when there are no facilities open, even loos, so it limits how long we can be out for.

I tried to be more imaginative and made more effort at the beginning of lockdown but now I can't be bothered and we're spending increasing amounts of time at home.

I'm not even sure I can be bothered once lockdown lifts either as the whole social distancing thing is going to create loads of queues and hold ups, and again with small children that just saps the enjoyment out of going anywhere.

Nothing is easy or fun anymore. It's quite depressing when you think about it.

I’m bored of lockdown in general but haven’t quite felt bored of walks yet. I’m enjoying going on ridiculously long expeditions to somewhat maintain my high fitness levels. I’ve even walked the general route of my nearest train line Blush

Don’t get me wrong it’s not the most fun but for personal reasons it’s miles better than being stuck at home

girlywhirly · 07/06/2020 15:14

I’m also sick of dodging other pedestrians, and even more so of cyclists on pavements and footpaths, adults and teens on bikes like tanks, swerving around blind bends with no warning. It is getting repetitive doing the same routes and today drizzly and grey so not particularly enjoyable.

At least if we walk down to our town centre (0.9mile one way) we are going for a purpose, food shopping from butcher, deli, baker etc independent shops, and getting the exercise at the same time, we did this almost every Saturday morning anyway.

PumpkinP · 07/06/2020 15:15

We don’t go for walks anymore. We live on a housing estate and it just isn’t enjoyable, maybe if we lived next to a nice park we would. The kids don’t enjoy it and find it boring/pointless so I only go out once a week/fortnight for shopping

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 07/06/2020 15:18

We've given up this weekend. We are onto our third movie of the day, the tablets are on too, and imnonto my fourth cuppa.

Fuck it. We are sitting on our arses for the day.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/06/2020 15:18

Same, and because there are no toilets I can’t even go far or meet a friend now we’re finally allowed to (Scotland) because I am nervous about my IBS. I just tramp round the streets!

Thaddit · 07/06/2020 15:20

I started a lockdown photograph album from my walks which has kept me amused throughout. Spring and early summer have been beautiful this year so I am grateful to have the time and opportunity to enjoy it. I found a cordoned off area of ground early on and have checked it regularly, two weeks ago the flowers appeared and were bee orchids. This was the most excitement I had had for days.

I am very fed up though and am in training to eat chocolate for England when the rescheduled Olympics happen next year.

PoetaDeLosSandwiches · 07/06/2020 15:20

YANBU I feel the same.

There is graffiti around here - Boring Dystopia. That sums it up for me.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 07/06/2020 15:21

There’s definitely been an increase of impatient cyclists on pavements - if pedestrians annoy you so much why don’t you cycle on the bloody road like you’re supposed to??

Suzie6789 · 07/06/2020 15:21

I have crohns so going anywhere without toilets is a risk I’m not prepared to take. So fucking sick of this all now. I feel like a prisoner in my own home.

GreyGardens88 · 07/06/2020 15:22

Get an empty train somewhere different then

EvilEdna1 · 07/06/2020 15:26

I am so bored of pointless walks that I have started gardening and I bloody hate gardening.

ProudMarys · 07/06/2020 15:30

I feel like some of the days. I just want it to be over and things to go back to normal with everything the way it was and there is no end in sight...It's good to vent even though you don't even have any answers. Often when I had a good moan (like on MN) I can feel more prepared to think more positively but I think a good moan helps. So thanks

coffeandcake30 · 07/06/2020 15:31

Definitely not unreasonable, it's getting DULL and I just want to be able to go and eat nice food, take my daughter swimming, go to the gym, walk somewhere with a pub at the end. But like someone else has posted, with social distancing how much fun are our old activities going to be? Will it be worth the hassle sometimes...?

Camomila · 07/06/2020 15:32

I'm so glad we are allowed in peoples gardens again and I don't have to constantly avoid people/worry about DS running off in the fields or on walks (we live in a flat with communal gardens so even sitting in the garden you have to watch out for people)

I'm currently sittiing in DSs playhouse in my parents back garden eating an icecream, making the most of it as its due to rain all next week!

Home42 · 07/06/2020 15:33

I walk twice a day everyday no matter what (got a dog!) do am not bored of walks but I am generally bored. I want to go to the local tourist town, walk by the river and then eat pizza in a restaurant with my boyfriend but we don’t live together and are in Wales so not permitted. 😔

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 07/06/2020 15:33

I started riding again two weeks ago. It's demands a change of the usual scenery and is the highlight of my week.

Up until the gyms closed I swam for at least a mile a week, then relaxed in the spa pool and had a nice sauna afterwards. I'll never again take for granted what a beautiful luxury that was. Without it I'm going spare!

I'm fortunate that my village has lovely walks with woods and a river. I'm still sick and tired of walking round it in circles (but I never tire of the garden).

What I want most of all is to breathe the salt sea air and listen to the waves breaking on the beach. But that's going to have to wait until the loos reopen.

Surely this is nearing its end.

hammeringinmyhead · 07/06/2020 15:35

Probably not. If I were to go to my nearest city in August or September, how many shops are going to say I can't take a buggy in? Where can I park one if Costa is social distancing seating? Will my toddler sit quietly while I queue to get in Baby Gap?(no)

hammeringinmyhead · 07/06/2020 15:38

Sorry, I mean "Probably not" in reply to whether old activities will be worth the hassle!

Ginfordinner · 07/06/2020 15:38

My pilates instructos are both doing classes on Zoom, and I look forward to those. I am also bored of walking in the same places. Unfortunately the places that we can drive to for a walk are also popular with half the county. We live in an area with loads of reservoirs with paths around them, and everyone and their dog walks around them.

And since we have had shedloads of rain over the last few days everywhere is really muddy.

bigbluebus · 07/06/2020 15:40

I live in a rural village and was getting fed up of doing the same walks repeatedly. We then got the bikes out so we could go further afield and ring the changes. I also remembered the other day that we have a book of guided walks around our nearest town 5 miles away so we did a combo of 3 of the walks from that and went to places we've never been to in 28 years if living in this area. It's easy to get bored unless you can ring the changes a little.

UserFriendly14 · 07/06/2020 15:43

YANBU. As others have said, I get so annoyed trying to work out if someone else or me will be the one to dive out of the way, I feel like I can’t switch off.

My toddler is starting to hate being in the pram and taking him out is such a chore now. I feel like I spend an hour before we go trying to get his shoes/coat on, prepping the —bribes— snacks and just getting myself ready.

SockYarn · 07/06/2020 15:52

YANBU. Sick of it.

And because Saint Nicola does not believe in the common sense of the Scottish population, we're not allowed to travel anywhere interesting to walk.

Pokemon Go and podcasts are great. But "going for a walk" after 12 weeks of tedium is just SO DULL.

monkeyonthetable · 07/06/2020 15:52

YANBU. I absolutely love walking but I really miss kayaking, dance classes and yoga with a real live teacher, swimming outdoors, or going to the local pool then having a steam and sauna afterwards. I'd love to run but had a foot injury that has only just healed so can't even attempt c25K.

And I so miss restaurants, cafes, pubs, theatres, gigs, galleries, comedy clubs.

lilgreen · 07/06/2020 15:52

We have a dog so we walk twice a day 365 days a year, rain or shine. Love walking. But I get that it’s boring if you don’t normally do it. I’m in from a wet dog walk and decided that there’s nothing else for it but a roast to warm us up.
